You can wash a dog up to once a week if you're using a high quality shampoo AND a conditioner. For dogs not people, the Ph is different. If you rinse the dog completely out it won't get a rash. geek, use a whiteneing shampoo

Once a week is too much as our vets told us it takes the natural oils from the dogs fur which can be bad for it. If i left my dog for a year its fur wud b a mess, it would prob get dredlocks! :P

Ummm, I work at a Petco, I've worked there for a year as a bather/grooming assistant, am almost done with grooming school, and I have 4 dogs that get washed once a month, none of them has dandruff, or a skin rash, or ever has. We have cutomers that bring there dogs in for a wash once a week and there dogs don't have any rashes or dandruff either, I've had dogs since I was 4, we always washed them more than once a year, and they were always fine.
I have a Westie that get a bath once a week. Plus I would NEVER go to Petco. They are horrible to animals. Tainted food. My Westie has no skin issues and they should be bathed at least once a month or MORE! If I don't bathe and condition her once a week she starts to itch. Westies do need a special Westie diet which you can google. I never used medicated shampoo it is dying. You must condition the skin or they will have problems. Please put your dogs on the Westie diet!

Petco is where my Westie would "go". Always had to call for backup. Usually it was next to those grey pillars they have in the store.
