Oh, and WE have to help every failure from every failure nation? Where are parents and the communities of these children? Why are they not raising animals and growing crops? We've given over a century of mercy, medical supplies, teaching, morality training, farming equipment, raw materials, food, and clean water. What have they done with this generosity? I kind of agree with everyone that the child could've been handled more gently. But really, he's going to feel pain no matter how gentle the handling is, the skin breakdown is pretty severe.

im studying for an exam and watching this and its breaking my heart to see CHILDREN suffering like this. Ive decided to contribute to humane missions in Africa as soon as I am done my undergrad and help these kids who really need it.

I understand trying to show the world what this little boy has, but i don't understand the roughness. He is clearly in pain and i don't see the aid in poking him continuously for the cameras. We get that he is swollen. He should've been given pain medicine if possible.

kwashiorkor is due to deficiency of food and antioxidants. low protein causes ascites (fluid in abdomen cavity). he needs food hence feeding chicken and fish etc. if you are in impoverished nations i guess you spend your money on treating illness rather than alleviating symptoms. but it is heart-breaking to see children in pain.

We don't really know that kwashiorkor is a result of protein deficiency, as opposed to simply food deficiency. No one really knows why a child gets Kwashiorkor as opposed to marasmus.
