It really doesn't matter what he's playing... it's the way he plays it and through which effect he plays it... he has that kind of musical ability. Give Les a shoe box with rubber bands on it, mic it, run it through some good effects and a decent amp... it will blow your damn mind, I guarantee it!

but, the bass sounds horrible IMO compared to any one of his CTs. That bass has too much mids and it just sounds like a tin can.

@primussucks I've looked at hundreds of photos of Carl Thompson basses from the first one he made up to the replica he made for Les Claypool of Les' first CT, watched the video of Carl installing the frets and hours of Carl's videos on You Tube and have never seen a CT bass with a scroll that even closely resembles this bass. And again I stress I have never seen a CT bass with the tuning machines in line. Also Les put out in his email newsletter he was designing his own brand of basses.

@ibanezbloke According to the Primus' newsletter, it's a new bass designed and built by Dan Maloney (who also built the Les' banjo bass). Les said "it is part Fender Jazz Bass, Precision, Rickenbacker 4001, Carl Thompson, Jaguar E-Type (yes, the car) and a bit of Dr. Suess" and "Ideally some of these instruments I'm developing will be available at some point", so it could be a regular signature bass, but I think it doesn't sound as good as his Carl Thompson's basses. :(
