My first Harry Potter memories were from fourth grade. The first Deathly Hallows movie came out in my senior year of college. Cheers to the Harry Potter generation!
Can you imagine how people must have freaked out when this trailer first started showing in theaters, before stuff was in the new on the web before it actually happened. Just out of nowhere, this musicbox starts playing, people going, "Wha...?" and then you see a boy with glasses, "There's no such thing as magic!"BAM
Love how the WB logo disintegrates into the owls. Really cool effect. Also, I'm thinking Dumbledore's narration/reading of the letter was a deleted scene.
this trailer is quite dumb and dry. but this is where it all began after the books. the trailer of the first movie - but not just any movie; one of the most epic movie series of all time.
I was 13 when I saw this trailer in theaters. I about jumped out of my seat I was so freakin excited and I was pulling on my mom's sleeve going "It's Harry Potter, mom! Harry!"
I was 10 when I read the first book for the first time and since then, I love to read and I want to be a writer myself. THANK YOU, HARRY!! <3

WOW!!! all these years and now harry potter is gonna end :'( im gonna miss this series.....it's funny tho, if i see daniel radcliffe in another movie all always see him as harry potter, i just can't picture him as any other character
I remember seeing this trailer, it was so awesome, I didn't knew about the books back then (I just heard that some parents hated because they said it teaches kids dark arts and all that satanic stuff, I LOL'D at that time and I LOL'D now, what idiots :P).
I'm sad and happy because it ended, it was a fun ride. :D
I have an ongoing sense of depression now that its all over..... it happened after the books ended but at that point at least I still had to movies to give me my Potter fix....
@Lightn0x If it started to lose its charm around the fifth one then the evidence would point to you not liking David Yates, the director of the movies from the fifth onwards. I'd have to agree with you too.
The 8th Harry Potter Movie is stunning! My buddie and I just now experienced it leaked online. We stumbled upon it on watch harry potter. us (no spaces)
it's the philosopher's stone!! FFS stupid americans. JK Rowling named it the philosopher's stone, everywhere else the movie and books are called, harry potter and the philosopher's stone. i just don't understand why americans felt the need to change the name for themselves..
I DONT WANT IT TO END!!!!! i grew up with HP ill be crying so many times in the last film with all the deaths and happy ending and then cry again knowing im never gunna see it in the cinemas again :(
HOLY F*CK! I remember seeing this with my dad and my cousins on pay-per-view @ a Marriott hotel in San Diego, CA during spring break 2002!!! I was 8 @that time!!!! time does fly!!!! One of my fav. movies.
@amandapanda15012 Yeah and the trailer for Harry Potter 7 is so much more dark and depressing and most of all, agressive!.. HP 1 was like "welcome to your first flying lesson" and HP7 is like "Voldemort I"m gonna kill him!!" HP 1 2 and 3 made you feel good on the inside.. where as 5 6 and 7 just make you feel sad that everyone is dying!
Warner Bros. released this teaser trailer on March 8th, 2001. Hard to believe in 2 weeks it'll have been 10 years ago!
I'll always remember the amazement I felt upon seeing this first "footage" of Harry Potter in the teaser. Even though only 4 of the books were around @ that point...seeing what the first movie was going to look like was so exciting!
As I myself am writing a high fantasy adventure I love these movies. Though I'm not writing about wizard school or anything b/c well frankly I think harry potter series ate that up :)
My story will have magic adventure and all that stuff in it, but it's much more like a Robin Hood meets Lord of the Rings meets Legend of the Seeker. Of course I'd not rule out collaborating with Ms. Rowling and etching a cross-over, though that'd be years ahead of us. I must first finish my novel :)
@mattman2900 Something like The Assassin's Apprentice Trilogy by Robin Hobb?
If you are a fantasy writer(I do know that high fantasy isn't the same as the other fantasy sub-genres but it's all fantasy after all if i'm not mistaken), have you ever read A Song of Ice and Fire series written by a master fantasy and sci-fi writer George RR Martin? It's the best that the genre has to offer(even better than LOTR).Could you tell me your opinion about it if you had?
Seems like such a long time ago, tho, it be nice for a theater to do a Harry Potter Week, and show all 7 leading up to the final 8th film (#7 Part II). A proposed schedule could go like this:
Friday - Philosopher's Stone Saturday - Chamber of Secrets Sunday- Prizoner of Azkaban Monday - Goblet of Fire
Tuesday - Order of the Phoenix Wednesday - Half Blood Prince
Thursday (9pm)- Deathly Hallows Part 1 followed by Part 2 at 12:01am Friday
I still remember the very first time I saw this trailer in theaters. I remember thinking that the music was amazing, but I also didn't have a desire to see it for some weird reason.
I remember the first time I saw this teaser my first thought was "Holy Hell what did they do to it?! I was like, that's supposed to be Hermione?? Why are Harry's eyes blue and why is his hair so neat?? Oh God they killed it!" But then I watched it a couple more times and watched the full trailer every day that entire summer and and I was jumping at the heels to see it. I loved it and now, almost ten years later, think they couldn't have found more perfect kids to play the main three.
i remeber i was about 5 when this came out. at first i didnt show any interest till my mum dagged me to watch the dvd as the chamber of secrects was coming out soon. when i wastched the philophers stone i was like WOW! and then it just kept on getting better and better. to this day my fav movie had and probaly always will be the chamber of secrects. i remember buying a gryfindor dress as a kid. and my mum thought the slytherin had nicer colours i remember my expression when she wouldnt buy it!
@MegaHarryPotter123 I was two years older than you, which means that you must be fifteen now. I think you should have read the books before seeing the movie. Movies spoil imagination.
I remember watching this teaser trailer back in '01 over and over because it was so awesome and better than the official trailer. Today, watching it, i still feel the hairs standing on the back of my neck at certain awesome parts and it's so cute that daniel looked like such a beatle back then.

@prettyinpink622 I wouldn't say John Williams is epic. Howard Shore is epic. Danny Elfman is fucking epic. No, John Williams' music is...special, actually magical.I think that he is at his best in E.T., Jurassic Park, Home Alone and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. But his best work is Hedwig's theme.
@michelleinhk really does bring you back doesn't it? Back to the days when we were eleven... I want the days back that were worry free and out imaginations were just fledgling and Harry Potter made it fly. I wish i were back.
One of the movies that everyone remember, thanks to JK Rowling for create it and to Chris Colombus to give it life to the people that never read the books.
BTW, Roger Ebert, the only film critic ever to win a Pulitzer Prize, considers this movie a genuine classic that will withstand the test of time. And by now the series of books by J.K. Rowling is generally considered by serious book critics (both here and abroad) to be modern day classics - not just as an example of fantasy fiction, but as genuine literature.
Anyone who calls this movie "a genuine classic" doesn't have the faintest clue about what makes a great film. The script is clunky, the characters are thinly drawn, the acting is wooden and every aspect of dramatic tension is sanitised to pure mush for fear of upsetting 4 year olds.
If those are the ingredients for "a genuine classic", then I'm Brad Pitt.
I know what you mean since age 10 IM a huge fan of HP went to see the movie I was astounded to be honest I wasnt much of a fan before the movie but boy was Im missing somthing now Im 18 and I cant wait for DH Im a big movie person but this is on the top of my list. This gave me my dream to become an actor Im still going for that Dream of course by now its not only Potter influence but I will always remember the day I came out of the theatre
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
HIS PARENTS DID NOT DIE IN A CAR CRASH!!!!! i hope you are joking!!!! do you not realize that voldemort killed his parents?!?!?!?!? you are such a crack head if that's what you think!!! and learn how to spell unknown you whore!!!!!! I HATE YOU IF YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THAT'S HOW HIS PARENTS DIED YOU IDIOT!!!!!!! IF YOU'RE GONNA POST STUFF LIKE THAT DO NOT EVEN THINK THAT YOU KNOW STUFF ABOUT HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well, though it was in 2001, it is still considered by many to be part of the 90's film era because of the type of photography used to film the movie.
i know he or she is a idiot. its simple if she saw the movie. voldemort, killed his father with avada kedavera first, then his mum put the spell on him. then, voldemort used avada kedavera to kill his mum. simple things. simple things

Just so we're clear...dumbly nodding along when someone hails this mediocre film as a classic constitutes good prioritising, yes?

well, though it was in 2001, it is still considered by many to be part of the 90's film era because of the type of photography used to film the movie.
