cont, P-51 D's ( Rolls Super-charged engine) worked better at high alts Thus why you had New pilots able to attack and kill vet german pilots ..they knew german tatics from the britsh..theres many factors why like ..german fuel 88 octane due to shortage due to bombing VS Canadian/American sent fuel 115 octane used in a super-charged plane which was even better
James " Dutch " Kindelberger was not a German, and he was the head of the design TEAM which developed the P51 . As for the comments re B29 v Fw190, words fail me ! For those who hate " Nazi's " , its a big club, which included most of the German military establishment, who basically believed that Mr A Hitler was a prong. A salutory lesson for current events !
The P 51 Mustang used by the US airforce was a far more potent purpose fighter bomber to name but one plane used by the allies.
The B 29 Superfortress used by the US air force as well, could carry atleast 10 times the bomb load and had a range about 10 times the JU 88. It could also fly at far greater altitudes and had a pressure cabin and a fire control system, first of it's time.
It had far greater armament as well.
Your just pulling facts out of your ass, cuz ur a dumb neo nazi.
@askjiir The P51 was designed by a German, look it up.
The B29 was a great aircraft no doubt, but that plane benefited from the Luftwaffe being decimated by bombing and the lack of pilots. If you remember, the FW190 used to rip the B29 to shreds, but there were not enough of those planes and not enough pilots.
And I am an American who hates the Nazis, but what is right is right.
@mrceebees14 Your misguided or misinformed The B-29 was never used in germany It came late in the war and was used on japan to drop the Atomic bomb And flew Much higher then the B-17 and faster A Fw-190 was useless over 24.000ft
B-17's learned about fighter cover ..thus the P-51 with drop tanks to escort the B-17 and tear the 109's and 190's a new ass
@freakyflow the 190 d was a high level interceptor version of the 190, the 190d's engine was actually the same engine used in the ju 88, junkers jumo and had a ceiling of over 39000 ft
@packr72 ..Had the Ju- 88 engine yes now think about that. The engline was designed and built for a bomber. A bomber needs Torque : τ is the torque vector and τ is the magnitude of the torque,
r is the displacement vector (a vector from the point from which torque is measured to the point where force is applied ) or T= r x F A fighter needs speed Torgue is great of your hauling a big plane with bombs But put a heavy engine in a light fighter plane you lose.. P-38's made kills at low alts
@askjiir and B29 was developed 10 years later after Ju88. At the time of Ju88 USA was using almost WWI-like wooden bombers with few wings and no glass cockpit at all.
typical...good guys are always from somewhere elso...but not Germany in the time 33 to 45
There was much bravery among germans fighting against the Nazis...unfortunatly just a small part of the people....but the most where frightend and unsave themselves...cause a rebelling german was executed like an enemy.
Sorry Northside - but that is not really true. Both designers were germans (Wilhelm Heinrich Evers and Alfred Gassner) but both leaved germany in 1936 and became american citizens.
Interesting footnote: The original airframe for the prototype of the JU 88, which flew before the war, was much sleeker and simpler than the wartime versions, and was designed by two Americans. They were contracted by Junkers as design consultants because they were the leading experts at the time in all-metal "stressed skin" construction, which was a new concept. This film clip offers a chance to hear the growl of the twin engines in flight.

B-29s did not fly in combat in Europe. One, possibly more, were flown around UK airfields for demonstration purposes.
