we were playin and i was setting and our libero kind of shanked the ball towards the outside going back for his approach, the outside slipped and i ran across the court, dove, and kicked the ball at the outside on the grounds face and it went and rolled over the top of the net and scored hahaha

Six months ago me and eleven other boys were playing. If we won it would be a match-point. One guy from the other team stroke, but the ball hit my head and returned to one of our team. He scored and we won... they told me that, because I was unconscious, but the game was so fast that nobody saw me in that moment.

As long as it's on your side of the court, and you haven't touched the ball, you can hit with any part of your body. It's perfectly legal.

You can in fact kick the ball, but only if there is absolutely no way you can save it with the hands. if you just kick it without pressure during a game, then the ref will give the point to the opponent. So, you can kick it, but only if it is of utmost importance and no other way exists.

It really depends on the high school league. The higher up leagues typically allow it. The "no kick" rule is really just a teaching rule to make sure kids don't "rely" on kicking. I can't kick for beans, but a lot of kids I coach seem to think it's useful. Beats me.

To those who asked about the legalilty of the play...yes, contact with any body part is legal. The only major rule set where it is currently illegal is NFHS (most states use this rule set for high school play), but next year, NFHS will allow contact below the waist to conform with pretty much everywhere else in the world.
