  • Open Suse THE BEST but it is very SLOW,but theres no virus

  • Try Open SUSE 11.1 it's very improved, it's very good on plug n play, if you have some older PC or laptop model it recognises everything. I have it installed on an Asus deluxe with a P4 at 3 GHz, 3 Gb of memory it just recognised every device and connected to the net immediately (via ethernet port). It's very fast in this machine. You can have many browser windows open, the connections are fast because the TCP-IP stack in Linux is better. It's not as fast at full screen flash videos (You Tube)

  • I personally prefer Gentoo. Excellent distro. I used to use OpenSUSE but I had an issue when installing Python 2.6 and Python 3.11 in parallel. Gentoo's Portage allows a huge amount of flexibility, and I love the rolling releases.

  • opensuse by far!

  • OpenSuse Is TEh Best xD

I Used To HAve Windows 7 But Its So Fvuckn Sllow

And I swereed i won't Use It Agian

    Lmaooooooooooooo

  • you're damn right, tomorrow i'm gonna install opensuse

  • @Wolferine95 it's slow because you prolly have a shitty computer.

  • ....sounds like your computer is slow becuase of hardware I have Vista, and my laptop overheats alot but in Linux Mint 8 its barely even warming up... still in Vista things run fast. I have AMD Turion x2 processor, 4GB ram, 128MB shared NVIDIA.

Everything is fast for me in both Linux Mint and Vista... Opensuse is probably faster for u becuase it uses less resources and has lower requirments than Vista/Win7 does... Vista is a resource hog but with my system it runs fine and linux runs COOLER.

  • how did you switch from windows to linux so fast?

say if i was to insall leopard on my PC could i use the same program?

  • i hope to jesus christ you are joking about your whole comment :\

  • welln witch os is he using as a host linux of windows?

  • let the noobs dumbasses play around with their toys called windows seven and windows vista. The Linux boxes rocks, evar! so powerful, so light, so safe and so beautiful ;) what more u want?

  • linux is the bomb and is better than windows 7 also

  • If you're like me and have been involved with computers for the last 30+ years Linux will come naturally.

The people who have a difficult time understanding Windows won't be doing much better in Linux.

I believe that people have a difficult time making the switch because they're either dependant or familiar with their current applications. Many don't know there is a Linux equivalent available. Why spend $350 for MS Office when Open Office is free?

  • insuf iq

  • lol xD

  • yes and people should reallise that there are a whole freaking lot of programs that doesn't need compiling or the terminal

  • First you had plenty of programs running in memory on the Windows machine, I could see them on the taskbar...

Second Windows Vista caches memory so it can be used efficiently, it releases it when necessary & unused memory is wasted memory so you could say Suse with 1gb+ of memory is a waste.

  • i use linux - but this just simply a lie. Firefox on linux is resource hog - it works milion times worse than on Vista. It doesnt mother how much ram it showing to use.

  • Try Opera in Linux. It's far better than Firefox. There is Google Chrome now in Linux too. Opera is just excellent.

  • vista dozznt use all ram u retard, it manages it efficiently. u wanna know how much ram is being used, start the cpu ram gadget.

  • stop asking to be fooled.. microsoft efficiently fools you with fancy desktop gadgets sayin' how much RAM they'd like their OS to be spenting..

Say.. can YOUR 32-bit Vista manage more than 3GB??

  • my vista used all of my 8 gbs of ram on 3 programs XD i hate vista.

  • what programs did u use?

  • I have a feeling you have no idea what Linux really is.

  • Noob alert! Someone doesn't know their history!

  • wtf hahahahhahahahah

  • Hey, How do you switch through multiple operating systems like that. I know you can use Things like parrallels or microsofts virtual machine software but how do you get the cube that you can rotate to choose which os.

  • This guy is an IDIOT, do you not see how many processes he has running?!?!? top right side of screen, atleast 12.. Of course its fkin 1.31gb

    what a moron..

  • LMAO, you're the idiot. Vista is a fucking resource hog no matter how you look at it. As far as resources are concerned, Linux will ALWAYS own that piec of shit OS called Vista. Even MicroShaft has given up on it (hence they're releasing Windows 7 ahead of schedule). Vista was one of the biggest OS flops ever.

  • I've had Vista since the launch day and love it. Its not just leaving RAM out there for programs to use, its utilizing it more to make your memory efficient. Besides, today you could build a 200-300 PC that could easily run Vista with NO problems.

  • How looks like the new death blue screen in windows 7??? and in Vista!!!??? I doesn´t work with this shits here! Tell-me please! The logo tell us all we need... A buble of shits.... The dll hell, and a registry of countless crashes!!!!

  • lmao, that's like saying obama's spending isn't debt. both are resources thrown out on the window. vista is fail and i really hope win 7 will be good. i really got bored of XP.

  • i have windows 7 build 7100 on my regular computer. i have opensuse 11.1 on my laptop.

  • haha...when i had vista even if i didn't have any programs running it would still use about 1.5gb of RAM. just by running my antivirus and a networking program.Vista is just a resource hog, hopefully they change that in windows 7. i think they will, since its starting to look a lot like KDE 4.2 i.m.o. and with linux i only use about 300mb. huge difference.

  • you don't need any antivir on linux as you don't have any prof. app on linux

  • its not and it still uses alot of ram when u dont start programs that need resources, but even on 64bit version when u do need the ram it frees up alot, got to a point where the os was using 350mb(with antivirus and messenger ofcourse) usualy uses more than 1gb

  • @hrbear The thing is that thanks to adobe flash lags in fullscreen.

  • sweet skybox dude

  • jaja casi 3 veces mas consume de memoria win vista, es realmente muy malo..

    VIVA LINUX :D

  • To boxedrice, This is true, you should NOT judge Bill in this was, however we must keep in mind that Micro$oft is a a lazy CO, so i am thankful to all of the developers of Linux and i say keep up the good work. Linux For The Win

  • BILL GATES IS GREEDY

Some of our most notorious criminals have shown a passionate side with charity

    Frank Lucus

    Pablo Escabar (? spelling)

    Capone

    Lucky Luciano (? spelling)

Just because they don't hold onto every cent made doesn't make them a charity super hero

  • WINDOWS SUX

AND THE OPENSOURCE COMMUNITY HAS HEARD OUR CRIES

I love LINUX and Apple both

Bill Gates needs knocked off his thrown of greed!

  • ok i agree that Linux beats Vistas butt but bill gates has given most of his money away to charity so you can't go around calling him greedy.

  • you do realise Bill Gates isn't CEO of microsoft anymore right? he retired. Steve Ballmer is the dude you should be hating on now lol

  • not really, Gates is the one!

he started all of this shit. lol.

  • if you think you`re better, go create microsoft2 or somethin.

    Btw, I`m a Linux fan.

  • I use Linux now. Vista was shit. too slow. also I like the added security Linux Gives.

  • vista fails with any test you throw at it

  • OpenSuse es la onda... Mucho mejor que vista, mas rapido màs estable, menos consumo de recursos... Mejor en todos sentidos :)

  • you don't know

  • vista is very slow and that drove me to linux, i have just finished downloading and installing OpenSUSE 11 and it really looks pretty and much faster than Vista ... thank u OpenSUSE :D

  • Exact same thing happened to me. I'm now a proud Linux user running OpenSuse 11 (Gnome). It's faster, more stable and there are TONS of free software programs available for just about anything you want to do. Fragging in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars on Linux is faster than the same version running on Windows. It's finally fit for the masses!

  • I love videos like this! My 4-year-old computer is at the very edge of Vista's requirements so even if it did install, it'd run like junk & have no eye candy -- yet in Kubuntu I can have Firefox 3, Kopete, GIMP, etc. running with Compiz-Fusion at full blast and not only is there no speed loss, it's faster than Firefox 3 alone was in WinXP. :-D

  • are you saying that windows handles memory better than suse?

  • No, those 474 MiB in System Monitor means that 474MiB are used by the programs. But the RAM memory in the Linux systems is always full, by the programs, and the rest for cache and a bit more by the buffer.

In my installation of openSUSE 11 with KDE 4.1.1 and with 1.5 GiB RAM, 0.52 GiB are used by the application, 0.91 GiB by the cache, and 0.01 GiB by the buffer.

In general Windows memory manager is not good.

  • You say that openSUSE 11 uses about 476mb of RAM, but by linux system uses about 50mb of ram (with Xorg+Fluxbox running), and about 16mb ram without Xorg running.

ArchLinux, my friend. It does exactly what you tell it to and nothing else.

  • It has nothing to do with suse, blame firefox.

  • az a baj hogy a linux meg nem gamer opr. de mind1

  • Cedega 6.0 <-- google

  • Játszani Playstation-ön kell.

Minden másra ott a PC és a Linux.

  • Viva Linux...

  • windows vista

    cpu 50 - 70%

    memory 1.3 Gb

    OpenSUSE 11

    cpu 80 - 100& !!!!!

    memory 400mb - 500mb

  • ops me equivoque.

Deberias probar OpenSUSE a ver qué tal...

  • How'd you get firefox to look the same as on windows?

  • you forgot to show the part where firefox crashes when browsing sites with flash video (like youtube) on linux. I've given linux so many opportunities to replace windows, but it has failed miserably every time.

  • You got a point there but since I've been using it in suse 11 it has worked almost flawlessly but yeah it has some minor glitches. Coz when I used it with Kubuntu it crashed like every 15 min or so. I don't know if it's because the distro but now it works really great. Thanks for the comment :D.

  • Vista doesnt use ram the same way as other OS. Vista cashes alot of ram to speed up programs you use alot. And when ram is needed it releases it lightningfast. This just shows that you dont understand the technology behind it all.

  • Sorry, this video doesn't show very well what I was trying to say but I'll do a better one. Still Vista sucks at RAM management, it cashes a lot of ram but it doesn't release it back efficiently. It's just not as efficient as in Linux. Thanks for the comment. XD

  • Sweet video darkeva02!

    Impresionante el fact.
