Is there any telescopic evidence of the moon taking hits to this extent? I've known people with some pretty nice home telescopes, maybe someone has seen something.

The moon has always been leaving us its not being pushed its actually just drifting away essentially. this is because its taking some of the earths rotational energy (slowing the earths spin) this is seen in the tides. The moon the quakes you are talking about does not really make sense yeah it may have some geologic activity because its still cooling which would make it shrink. lot of conspiracy theories fun to hear though. not sure how losing the moon would shorten the day either.

The earth's gravity field is different than it's magnetic field. Glacial rebound does not change the mass of the earth. The mass of the earth is what keeps the moon here, not its magnetic field. There is gravity everywhere. God is Ok with the walls. "render unto Caesar" ......

Something that is rarely or never spoken of is that the moon is a hollow body. If one were to do a POV analysis of the gravity. The vector sum at the center will be zero. Then if you go further and sum the force on the inside surface the prevailing grav force will be pointing toward the outer surface. Most likely then the normal energetically stabile shape will not be simple and solid but "hollow".  I've never seen a treatment of this except with me. Earth is probably hollow as well.

If a group of beings was intelligent enough, and geared up enough, they could likely make an "inner world biosphere" out of a body like the moon. It would be more stabile than the surface dweller planet. It could be civilization is something that is just used to stabilize that place. It could be; people are a kind of an "escaped life form".
