There weren't "many" that lived past 120 and the person that wrote that passage probably didn't know anyone who ever had (being that the average life span was in the 30's!)

Hey genius! chapter 10 talks about what WILL become of Noahs sons decendents in the future. Its just explaining what we see today and where and how it all got started! there was no such thing as rain, there was a higher concentration of oxygen to the point where it impregnated even water. this would cause plants, animals, and humans to live longer and grow larger.

Some believe the Firmament spoke of in chapter 1 would've been a thick ice shield covering the whole earth, which would've completely blocked out harmful radiation from the sun and contributing to extended lifespans. Genesis 10 is an OVERVIEW, and Genesis 11 speaks of one event within Genesis 10. Genesis 10:5 says, "from these...", and 10:18 says "Later...". These imply that Genesis 10 says how the descendants later spread. Genesis 11:1 talks of the event of the tower of Babel, that occurred prior to the spreading out of people.

Like I said, GENESIS 10 is an OVERVIEW of the family tree of Noah's sons (read verse 1).

Notice that in verse 25, it says,

"And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; FOR IN HIS DAYS WAS THE EARTH DIVIDED"

Hmm...I wonder what the latter part of that verse meant.

OH YEA! Chapter 11 reveals what happened around Peleg's time! DUH!

Well, let me inform you of a little TRUTH...

My grandmother had 7 children (my aunts and uncles). They were ALL born in my home town in the same house. Now, they ALL moved to different parts of the UK, and within a space of 20-30 years, they ALL got attached to the specific dialects of the country (one even has a SCOTTISH accent, for crying out loud!). One has a London accent, my dad has the Welsh dialect, and one has a southern-english one.
