it would have been too funny if he would have continued rolling passed the table onto a judge lol but it really comes to show that even after something like that happens you can still recover and win the gold!
The guy had a repetition deduction on P Bars that they never took from him. Maybe they took too much off for one skill but they didn't take ANYTHING off for the repetition error!
I know you dont get a deduction for doing the same skill twice...but you do for doing the same skill three times. Its called a repetition error. Trust me..been there.
I like this commentator a lot. She actually explains things very well. She's the only one so far from coverages of this that I've seen that immediately explained what went wrong with Paul's vault... with the angle that they replay it from you can even see how he's drifting to the side in the air. Not bad for somebody commenting by herself!
I disagree. Tim is very knowledgeable and he talks with the coaches and gymnasts. He is also familiar with the routines because he watches them over and over. He makes very few mistakes like some I won't mention who mispronounce names and make assumptions about routines. They even misidentify some of the athletes! That's awful!
Sacramones performance was terrible during the olympics and was the reason why Team USA lost. With that kind of performance and still made it to the national team, I wonder how many coaches did she have to sleep with in order to get the spot. Her ass is so fat, I think her ass is at least 20 pounds extra compared to her teammates. That was why she brought down Team USA. Stupid bitch should go to Jenny Craig. Alicia will go down as the worst, and most disgraceful gymnast in Olympic history.
the problems isn't that they were both gonna end up getting about the same points deducted. The thing is that the judges didnt "catch" the korean guy's mistake until later when they reviewed it. (Paul even mentions it on letterman that they found out later) On the other hand, the judges gave out a really...reeeally high score to someone that made an obvious mistake(rolling up to the judges' table lol) just b/c he represents the strongest nation in the world. AND THEY KNEW IT! :D
the commentator said before Paul's score was showed that she expected a 9.1 or 9.2. That's about what he got, so he wasn't given an inflated score. He had good form in the air and height and distance. A fall was only .5 whether you land on the mat or off. People need to stop judging scores when they aren't judges!!
As a men's judge, I completely agree. Even with my scoring it (and I'm known to be extremely rigorous), I have 1.0 off under the old Code, and my scores were always 0.1 to 0.2 lower than my fellow judges under the 2000-2004 Code.
your a dumbass...what're you Korean? i say that only because the korean judge wanted something deducted or something like that after the competition
plus its not stolen even if they gave him that deduction. The guy from China screwed up too on the high bars he had too many holds or something i forget exactly.
im not ranting or anything...just a long explanation to a dumbass up here^
I hate to say but i had to laugh when she asked if there was a special deduction for sitting on the judge's table. Just seemed...ridiculously funny. At least we know how it turned out in the end :)
"... and that's going to blow it for him." I think not lady.

9.9 start value
0.5 for ass kissing the ground
0.3 for out of bounds
at least 0.1 for lack of height as he barely completed the twisting
0.1 for low landing
0.1 for lack of distance

why is part 1 already the fourth rotation??
NzenitraM 2 years ago 15
@NzenitraM Because Paul Hamm is the only one that people care about.
pwalt2994 1 year ago
@NzenitraM because it would take a lot longer to show all six rotations. this way it is the same length as the womens competitions.

I know what u mean. some commentators act like the listenor is a gymnastic expert and don't explain anything.
AtlanteanxPrincess 2 years ago
That's cause she's a coach, not just a spectator. But ex gymnasts are quite good commentators too.
her0esfan 2 years ago
Ha ha, not Tim Daggett. he's a coach AND an ex gymnast and he's one of the worst commentators out there. The Tim, Al and Elfi trio is a disgrace.
gemuetlichkeit1982 2 years ago
Elfi's not too bad. At least she knows what she's talking about some of the times.

Yeah but he had one of the best comebacks ever. Why hate Paul when he didn't have anything to do with it.
markmansion 3 years ago 2
It would have been far less dramatic if the fall had happened in the first rotation. Then there would be fewer allegations of scandal.

Mrs8Troy8Bloom 3 years ago
it's actually not even gross...you haven't seen REAL body builders have you? paul hamm just has strong biceps
CITR92 3 years ago 2
um, i dont' care if they're "real" body builders or not.
I simply don't go around seeing people that strong on a daily basis, so excuse me for not being used to it.
and, just because it's not gross to you, doesn't mean you have to be bratty to me for not finding it hot.

of course this comes from a korean, the korean judge wanted to deduct pauls score
but even if they did paul still would win anyway cause the chinese gymnist screwed up on the parallel bars, too many holds or something like that

woops i mean KOREAN gymnist
kguy think before you type

its not about race. The judges admitted after that they had made a mistake, but it was too late to do anything.
xxbluejay21 3 years ago
ya i know its not about race but koreans seem to hate paul hamm along with morgan
at least koreans ive seen...and talked to
i normally try not to be mean but i just hate stupid people

The judges made a mistake on atleast half of the events by scoring Paul Hamm too high in the first place.
