What? A game that isn't released the year after it's released? That couldn't possibly mean they want to be good (although the release of 13-2 is bullshit since this game was announced at the same time as 13 and it has a sequel already). Been playing Final Fantasy games for about 11 years now. First was VII, then I went back and played VI, VIII had a fab story, I didn't care much about IX... X came by and I was in love with the series again, definitely my second favorite. Played XII and it was pretty good. Wasn't a big fan of XIII. In all these games, the music is fantastic, the stories breathtaking.
I've been waiting for Versus XIII for about 6 years now. You'll see me waiting for the midnight release.

Bunch of rushed products that are half-assed. FF has had no good story since FFX. With this game, it has been confirmed there is a HUGE world to explore and the return of the airship which you can control and fly through the world as well as other mech-based vehicles and machines...a promising story, state of the art graphics....

@DRAGOOOOOOOONNNNNNNN there is no such thing as the best but most of then final fantasy games had mixed reviews. it's always good to try them out as sometimes the plot may draw you in. from final fantasy XIII onwards, the story got to the dark side whereas the older final fantasy games are in its brighter side. X was considered as one as the best final fantasy game as said by many receptions. i'd suggest that if you like FF12 then stick with it.

A darker story and world...and well, Tetsuya Nomura is the lead director and he seems to be the most talented guy working at square right now. And CGI trailers are obviously in no way representative of gameplay.
I really want this game, because it's said to be similar to KH. And since I don't exactly the turn-based style of Final Fantasy games, I'm also interested in XIII and XIII-2.

@finalfantasynoctis1 Ummm, Sakaguchi even stated that the credit to the recent FF games has to go to Kitase (FFVI-FFVIII, FFX, FFXIII). He only contributed as Producer although he put more focus into FFIX. All of Sakaguchi's FF games consisted of the "crystal" formula.
Watch them fucking change it on the american release just like FFXIII's. that theme was awesome for the game but they ruined it for the US version. they better not change this. hopefully its not wishful thinking.

To be frank, this is one of the best video game tracks Ive ever heard. Knocks of anything in Metal Gear Solid and any final fantasy or legend of zelda. I even have the song on my Ipod!
Final Fantasy isn't the only game series SE makes, take a look on their website. FFXIII was a great game and FFXIII-2 will also be extremely good. FFX HD is also in the making.

JRPG, sad to say, has become a niche of the genre despite being the original form of RPGs, while being dominated by Western RPGs that is overly simple...

I wish they used an upgraded version of the Kingdom Hearts battle system to simulate the fast paced battle seen in the one trailer rather than using the battle system from Final Fantasy XIII, it looks so slow and dumb...
@Ramen86861 I picked up XIII on launch day. It's not that I hate the battle system, but after seeing the Trailer for Versus XIII, a battle system like the one in Kingdom Hearts would fit the play style of the game better than the battle system in XIII in my opinion. Think about it: In XIII as good as it was, the character still didn't act as soon as you commanded them to, but in Kingdom Hearts, the battles were very fast paced and exciting with a lot of options during combat to improve the flow.
@antivercetti I see your point. They're talking about doing the vs 13 battle system in the rest of the FF's... they even said they'd be willing to make 15 an action RPG. It's not that I don't agree, it's just that I'd like to play vs 13 to try it out first. If its that good, I'll live with FF being an action RPG series... if not... I'll beg them to do XIII battles again.
XIII wasn't designed to be an action RPG. It was realistic while turn based at heart.
This is just too beautiful for words and breathtaking.....a masterpiece. It reminds me of "Dearly Beloved" from Kingdom Hearts in a way. That's just me, though.

@finalfantasynoctis1 Ummm, Sakaguchi even stated that the credit to the recent FF games has to go to Kitase (FFVI-FFVIII, FFX, FFXIII). He only contributed as Producer although he put more focus into FFIX. All of Sakaguchi's FF games consisted of the "crystal" formula.

Even Sakaguchi himself said don't keep doing the same thing over and over again. I'm pretty sure you'll be getting a job, if you don't already have one, and raising a family soon. Then who's gonna play the old school formula? Therefore, they need to get new fans, and the new fans want action RPG, which is what FFXV is being considered at the moment.

@207053 thing is, the FF series is one of the few remaining "untainted" old-school RPG franchises around complete with the whole turn-based mechanics that remains true to the original. FF13, however (even though one of my favorites plot/soundtrack wise) changed the mechanics and simplified it to the point that even an idiot can play it. JRPG, sad to say, has become a niche of the genre despite being the original form of RPGs, while being dominated by Western RPGs that is overly simple...

FF13, IMHO, followed the western trend to make it more marketable to the common gamer... but people, who were loyal to the franchise were disappointed by this (including me). Don't get me wrong I love WRPGs too (Bethesda, Bioware), but there should be distinction. That's what makes JRPGs like FF-series unique.

@rongascon I´m totally agree with you, but I have nothing agaist this FF because it doesn´t follow the numerical series, like FF dirge cerberus FF tactics and Dissidia is just a variant to attract other kind of public and not just fans of the series... I think.
I think the worst was FF XI-XIV especially the XII, OMFG the XII sucks a lot, and is soo easy too...
just try to play the game and see, and if you don´t like it just remember this game doesn´t follow the numerical series...

I wish they used an upgraded version of the Kingdom Hearts battle system to simulate the fast paced battle seen in the one trailer rather than using the battle system from Final Fantasy XIII, it looks so slow and dumb...

It's not that I hate the battle system, but after seeing the Trailer for Versus XIII, a battle system like the one in Kingdom Hearts would fit the play style of the game better than the battle system in XIII in my opinion. Think about it: In XIII as good as it was, the character still didn't act as soon as you commanded them to, but in Kingdom Hearts, the battles were very fast paced and exciting with a lot of options during combat to improve the flow.

It's not that I don't agree, it's just that I'd like to play vs 13 to try it out first. If its that good, I'll live with FF being an action RPG series... if not... I'll beg them to do XIII battles again.
XIII wasn't designed to be an action RPG. It was realistic while turn based at heart.
