That type of thinking, even if only hypothetical, is the diff. between conservatives who understand freedom and liberals who have "great idea's'. Liberals have to fix and tamper with everything.
Haha...if that's true and if you really believe that, then Miss CA never stated that she OPPOSES gay marriage when she answered Perez Hilton's question. Check the transcript.
Funny how conservatives CLAIM to be the party of small government. The party that is outraged by the thought of gvt intruding into ppls personal lives to enforce biased moral convictions, because thats all they seem to try to do. It is in fact the platform of the entire party.
Ppl see through the charade now.
Its why Huckabee, for all your praise, never achieved the Presidency.
Oh yeah, and conservatives support small government, not ZERO government. Funny how you liberals can't make this distinction.
And I know this is going to hurt, but in 20 of the past 29 years, we've elected presidents who agree with Huckabee's social views.
Also, a recent poll showed that for the first time in years, a majority of the country identifies itself as pro-life. So basically, most Americans oppose abortion and gay marriage. Too bad libs like you want to force your views on them.
No it really doesnt hurt, cause when all is said n done Huckabee is hosting his own show on Fox while Obama is running the country...
And while Obama is president he already passed the hate crimes bill which includes more protections for gay ppl than ever b4 in the history of the country...... Really, thats even more important than gay marriage.
One day we'll live in a world where 2men who try to live their lives in love will be more acceptable than 2men trying to kill each other for oil.
If it didn't hurt, you wouldn't be saying "Ouch"...hehe
As for 2 men "who try to live their lives in love", they're free to do so already. Also, regarding hate crimes, do you know something that the rest of the country doesn't? A story the other day talked about how AG Holder is trying to extend protections to gays.
I would hardly consider a government that dictates which of its citizens can make a legal commitment to live a life in love, a 'small' gvt.
Come on dude, you are betraying your own beliefs just win a losing battle...
The only thing every poll on gay marriage has shown is that opposition to gay marriage is getting smaller year after year, and that opposition is mainly held by older generations that are dying off. Youre fighting the future. The future is Love.
Well, you're wrong on 2 points. First, you may not consider that to be 'small' government (since you don't like the position), but I find it to be well within the limits of the federal government.
Second, I fully support giving gay couples "a legal commitment to live a life in love". That's why I support civil unions.
Unfortunately, most gays to whom I've spoken are very intolerant people, and they simply ignore this position I've taken and continue to call me a bigot. (sigh)
And since we started out this whole debate with an attempted lesson in latin on your part, I feel its only fair to return the favor.
"marraige" is nothing more than an english word for the latin derivative which means "union". If its a word youre fighting for all u've managed to do by saying u support civil unions is accept the terms so long as its labled with a different name but means the same thing? Its just silly, u dont really seem to have a position here.
More lies. I never attempted a "lesson in latin [sic]". Also, your knowledge of Latin leaves much to be desired.
Anyway, gays are the ones who are fighting for a word. People are willing to give them civil unions, but apparently that's not good enough. Gays will not be happy until they've forced the whole country to agree with them on what 'marriage' means. That's the (intolerant) position that makes no sense.
"You liberals all have the same MO (BTW, that stands for 'modus operandi', if you don't know)"
See, thats called having a direct reference to back up a claim. I mean give me a break, u left it in my inbox, lol.
Take care dude, this is too easy for me....
Gays dont want anything special, they just want what every1 else has, equal treatment under the law. If ur willing to give all the same rights, then why battle over the name? call it what it is.
As for abortion, life definitely doesn't begin at 8 months. If you believe that it's A-OK to pierce an 8-month-old baby's head, suck out its brains, crush its skull, and then discard its body, then you most definitely believe in abortion-on-demand (ie; zero restrictions).
Also, there are plenty of couples in the country who want to adopt. Too bad you want to limit the supply of children.
What a horrible discussion this is. Whats worse, being burnt alive on a stake or being hung on a noose? A plantation or concentration camp? Which would YOU choose Mr. Huckabee? And exactly how much physical abuse does a people have to endure to be considered worthy of equal rights? Why is a Christian man, who should be the first to show compassion, so often the last? Thank God, that God didn't allow Huckabee to be our President... read a book on the topic b4 commenting please.
How uninformed you are!! Obama is against same sex marriage, same as Governor Huckabee. At least Huck has a REASON to be against same sex marriage. Obama, the most liberal senator in Washington also is against it. What do you think is his reason???
Im sorry to disappoint You, but you are the obviously uninformed one here.
Barack Obama opposed Prop 8. Its not a guess, its a fact and was a clear position of his campaign...
Just because some1 personally defines marriage as between 1man1woman does not mean they are 'against' same sex marriage, or other ppl making that choice for themselves. You were wrong for assuming that was the case....
Im not uninformed, its just that ppl like u have a hard time understanding that some1 can have a belief n not try to force that belief on others. There are ppl that dont believe in having abortions but dont think they should make that decision for others. Its simple really. Obama made it clear that he believes marriage=1man1woman.
He made it even clearer that he OPPOSES ANY legislation that forbids equal marriage. He OPPOSED Prop8.
You liberals all have the same MO (BTW, that stands for 'modus operandi', if you don't know). My name is regarding Obama's position on gay marriage, which he does in fact oppose, and you yourself even admitted as such. Funny how you people always ignore his stance and twist the discussion into one one Prop 8.
And for the record, people who oppose abortion but believe in abortion-on-demand are completely dishonest because they're forcing their beliefs on innocent unborn children.
Please, refer me to the quote where Obama said he 'opposed' gay marriage. You cant cause there is none....
I never admitted he 'in fact opposes' GM. Even saying that betrays your intention to invent realities that dont exist. Its called LYING.
I know many ppl who PERSONALLY believe that marriage should be between 1man 1woman but dont believe in the government denying that choice for adult citizens.
THE ONLY THING OBAMA HAS OFFICIALLY OPPOSED IS THE GOVERNMENT BANNING EQUAL MARRIAGE.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Obama said, "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."
Take a look at: watch?v=T6q1lGR9FgU

And in your last post you said: "Obama made it clear that he believes marriage=1man1woman. [sic] "
...It's funny how gay people ignore Obama's numerous quotes supporting the definition of "1 man, 1 woman" and how they always change the subject to Prop 8. For that matter, Miss CA wasn't even asked about Prop 8 during the pageant. All she stated was that "marriage should be between a man and a woman" (the same statement Obama made), and you people went nuts immediately afterwards.
My advice: If you don't like Christians or Mormons, then don't become one.
U havent offered ONE reference where Obama OPPOSES gay marriage.
Im Christian, I believe that to deny that Christ was Gods son is a sin. But it doesnt mean I OPPOSE Jews being allowed to worship in our country. Its called tolerance. Its called allowing others to live their own lives in a free society even if their choices dont reflect MY PERSONAL BELIEFS.
Obama has made it clear that he OPPOSES ANY BANS on Gay Marriage.
...So in other words, you are a joke. I don't even know why I'm taking the time to write these long comments since you're not even educated or honest enough to do your own research.
Anyone who spouts off on a subject that they clearly haven't researched is a person who just likes to hear himself talk. Next you'll be claiming Obama believes that the earth is flat, and you'll want quotes proving otherwise.
Oh yeah, and Obama's believed in "1 man, 1 woman" for the past 10 years...
No problem, you chose what you want. i would encourage more discussion, but then the sword cuts both ways as you say. Keep ur liberal theology out of our CHIRST BASED LAW of marriage and family. I say this with respect and love in Christ my friend
america may be a place to worship freely but it does not mean you can go do whatever you want there are guidelines even nature has its guidelines and it expresses its limits which can be easily seen as far what is natural the gay life contradicts the process of the circle of life and on a spiritual level it cannot be accepted due to its contradiction to what God has expressesd as what is a marital union, man and women...
Homosexuality occurs in 1500 of Gods species on planet Earth. Unlike your uneducated opinion, that is FACT, that is Science, and that is the Very definition of Natural.... But you're right, there are limits to religious freedoms. The seperation of church and state is a recognition of those limits. That is why religion can NOT cross into the secular domain and adjust the law to reflect a position of it's own religious OPINION... Thats why prop 8 will be overturned.
I am a Christian. I follow the teachings of Christ, not moses, not Paul, not the Old covenant. Can U tell me where Jesus ever ONCE spoke about homosexuality? Your interpretation of Your religion should not be forced upon ME in the secular Laws of our land...
Btw, did u know that gay marriages took place in the early Christian church, and even before it?
The idea that marriage has always been 1man, 1woman is a complete lie, put forth by ppl who are ignorant to the true development of Marriage.
yuo say you are a christian, But John 1 and Jesus himself displays how he is the WORD, the LAW, the I AM. Thus if Jesus is the word, meaning the law in Leviticus, which says homosexuality is wrong, then why not obey his word. The law is there to make us recongnize that we are sinners, by lieing, murder,adultury...etc.homosexuality is part of livetical law by God=Jesus. We pray for all sinners, not just homos but to drunkerds and all. But that does not give the right to disobey the word of Jesus
steelfaith, It was the experts of the Law and the written word who had Jesus killed...
If u think Jesus is every word in the bible, like u argue, then read Rev 19:7,8 -not only does Jesus (the Lamb) marry a man.... he marries many men....
You just proved, scripturally that gay marriage is supported by the bible.
Ufortunately you proved you have a reading level below a six grader, that the level the Bible is written in. You took it out of context just like every believer or non-believer. Y not read the whole chapter, better yet the whole book of revelation. The bibles does talk about homo. ur right. But never condones it. Please read carefully. with respect
Wow, so now I have the reading level of a sixth grader? I was following YOUR premise. You should show a little more respect, instead of just talking about it. You should follow some of that bible yourself, before yelling at other people for not following it....
like i said i wish i didnt say that but you make it as if you are a keeper of knowledge when you clearly havent read that passage in its context. Im srry for saying you have the reading level of a six grader. But you must relize that i do follow the word of God. Unfortunately, not pointing to you, but non-believers will always have difficulty understanding the passages and prophesies of the Lord. Since its by Him it is reveiled.
Why is it steelfaith, that when the bible says something u like, it is to be takin literally. When it says something you don't like, or that disagrees with your position, THAN it's a matter of context, and we're all wrong?
Im not, All i said was that Marriage should not be redefined on the whimofpeoplewhodonot believe in the Lord in the first place.Dont listen to me, my context is corrupt.Readit for yourself in context.its ALL writtenin context.what the Bible says that i think is wrong, then guess what.I'M WRONG.And i must change my ways.Like the Lord doesnnt want me to sleep with my gf before marrage. That is a hard thing now adays. But i stand firm in the Lord and dontdo it.What has the B say that i disagree with
I understand your feelings towards 'non believers' but remember, there are at least as many 'believers' who misrepresent the scriptures. After all, its in revelations that we read where in the last days, christians will be persecuted by those who claim to be christians. Thats scripture taken in absolute context, where deep understanding is required. "the synagouges of satan"
not to sound insulting but i am impressed, u are absolutly correct. The falling away from the truth of scripture in the church is definately apparant in American and European churches. But what happens is that those Christians who claim to know the truth, missuse the passages of the Bible. 2 peter dives into this misuse of scripture. But thanks for the conversation. Again i pray everyday for this nation for God has blesssed nation. and we seem to like to bite that hand that feeds us lol.
But again u must relieze the people hearts at the time. The Pharassies and the people wanted the Messiah, not Jesus, to over through the Roman government. Read what the attitudes of the San Haddrin and the Hebrew people where of the time and the Maccabean revolt. The Bible gives clear distinction between the believer in God and the self-rightouesness of man.
Again ill emphasize. Gay marriage is NOT SUPPORTED BY THE BIBLE. I just pray and minister to those who are in thoughs life styles. just as i pray and minister to Guys who sleep with 10 girls to be cool. Again i didnt mean to insult you about the reading level. I love our dialogue though? please keep in touch i want to make true understanding of what the Bible says.
I dont believe in violence against anyone but when it comes to gay people it is a lifestyle
black people cannot change their colour, and if many of you supporting this would not be here if it where not for a male and female coming together, nature speaks for itself nature is not perfect and maybe this is why we have these human disorders.......
The idea that justifys a minority groups civil rights, because their lifestyle is a choice is literally justifying civil rights violations against every religious group in America. Religion is a lifestyle? A choice, right?
Congradulations for that enlightening comment chalatenango234, You just made an argument against the entire concept of America being a place where ppl can worship freely....
I believe the homosexual community seem to be very aggressive and forceful in pushing thier agenda on everybody else. Also they should not compare gay rights to civil rights. The signs said "colored or white" not "gay or straight" no one knows who you're sleeping with, but you can't hide your skin color.
The viloence makes me sick. My best friend is gay and I worry about him all the time b/c of these HATE crimes. I can't begin to understand that kind of hate. I consider myself a "conservative" but I fully support gay rights and now the young "conservatives" need to educate the old. We grew up around openly gay people so we don't live in the ignorance and we must bring change! I'm a former Marine and I fought for the rights of ALL Americans not just straight Americans!!!!
The only hate and/or violence I have seen lately is coming from the Gay Activists. Attacking a 65 year old woman no less. The angry mobs screaming bigoted slurs against a group of Christians and threatening to kill them is not helpful.
I don't think anyone is against the individual civil rights of gay citizens.
jtaker gave some recent examples of violence against homosexuals. The attack on the 65 year old woman was also disgusting and should not be tolerated.
He also argued that gay civil rights are not the same as black civil rights. Just because blacks had more violence against them in their history means they deserve more civil rights than gays & lesbians? Ridiculous!
He should realize the main reason blacks have had more violence is because they cannot hide who they are. If gays & lesbians had a physical characteristic they couldn't hide, they certainly would have seen a significant increase of violence against them over the years.
Most people who are reliously conservative voted yes on prop 8-for whatever reason- and most blacks are religously conservative and socially liberal. What blacks went through and what gays are going through are incomparable except in the respect that gays are now being marginalized, and that is not ok. I, for example, am black and not a conservative christian and I voted NO wholeheartedly.
Blacks were denied the EXACT same rights as others. Gays have the EXAXT same rights as others. Every man can marry a woman and every woman can marry a man. Also when women got the rights of men, we didn't start calling women...men. So even if gays do get all the rights of man/woman marriages, they do not have a civil right to be called the same thing.
Huckabee's comments on gays at 4:50 shows he doesn't believe in equality for all. He claims Christian bashing goes on just like gay bashing. When was the last time some teenagers beat the crap out of a kid after school because he was Christian?
Of the bashing that goes on by all factions that dislike Christianity in America, gay bashing is certain to outnumber them exponentially. It's also practically guaranteed to be non-violent. There's no way you could make the same claim with gay bashing.
He needs to quit picking on Romney, but I do not think that is going to happen as they are naturally going to be contenders.
It is funny having a liberal try to compare destroying marriage to human rights battles in breaking down segregation and expect to get away with it against Huckabee.
Yeah...I liked how Huck framed the comparison of individuals rights vs. a re-definition of marriage. If bi-sexuals want marriage rights based on their orientation then it would dictate they could marry a man and a women. This craziness could go on to no end and often at the expense of children.
Anyways, it is good to hear Huckabee make a good case to an audience that needs to hear it.
It is a tough debate. Most people do not realize that the defense of marriage is more of a civic argument, not a religious/personal morality one.
Marriage between one man and one woman is neccessary on a civic level and is inherently definable through princible of the common denominator in reproduction.
Being a natural structure, even elderly or infertile couples fall into this natural definition on a civic basis.
Uh, I'm not bisexual, but I know more than enough to say this:
Someone being bisexual doesn't mean they're polygamous. Bisexual means that one is attracted to both male and female genders. They are just as likely to be polygamous or monogamous as any other human being.
You being heterosexual doesn't mean that you want to marry several wo/men, does it?
Bisexuals ARE fighting.. for the same thing gay people are- the right to marry someone of the same sex. They aren't asking for 2 at a time.
This has been flagged as spam show

So far as abortion is concerned, one irrefutable fact remains.
No one knows when life begins. U can PRETEND u do, but its all opinion. A personal belief of yours.
Many ppl, including myself believe a kid deserves to be born into a world by some1 who actually wants him/her & is capable of taking care of them.

KryptKraken 2 years ago
Haha...love the subtle difference in your second statement and your last one...
ObamaOpposesItToo 2 years ago
...So in other words, you are a joke.
ObamaOpposesItToo 2 years ago
No problem, you chose what you want. i would encourage more discussion, but then the sword cuts both ways as you say. Keep ur liberal theology out of our CHIRST BASED LAW of marriage and family. I say this with respect and love in Christ my friend
steelfaith99 3 years ago
america may be a place to worship freely but it does not mean you can go do whatever you want there are guidelines even nature has its guidelines and it expresses its limits which can be easily seen as far what is natural the gay life contradicts the process of the circle of life and on a spiritual level it cannot be accepted due to its contradiction to what God has expressesd as what is a marital union, man and women...
chalatenango234 3 years ago
Homosexuality occurs in 1500 of Gods species on planet Earth. Unlike your uneducated opinion, that is FACT, that is Science, and that is the Very definition of Natural.... But you're right, there are limits to religious freedoms. The seperation of church and state is a recognition of those limits. That is why religion can NOT cross into the secular domain and adjust the law to reflect a position of it's own religious OPINION... Thats why prop 8 will be overturned.
KryptKraken 3 years ago
I am a Christian. I follow the teachings of Christ, not moses, not Paul, not the Old covenant. Can U tell me where Jesus ever ONCE spoke about homosexuality? Your interpretation of Your religion should not be forced upon ME in the secular Laws of our land...
Btw, did u know that gay marriages took place in the early Christian church, and even before it?
The idea that marriage has always been 1man, 1woman is a complete lie, put forth by ppl who are ignorant to the true development of Marriage.
KryptKraken 3 years ago
yuo say you are a christian, But John 1 and Jesus himself displays how he is the WORD, the LAW, the I AM. But that does not give the right to disobey the word of Jesus
steelfaith99 3 years ago
so does that mean every word of revelations is Gods word and Jesus' will?
KryptKraken 3 years ago
Everything that the Bible says claiming from the Lord is his word. Yes. Jesus's will.
steelfaith99 3 years ago
steelfaith, It was the experts of the Law and the written word who had Jesus killed...
If u think Jesus is every word in the bible, like u argue, then read Rev 19:7,8 -not only does Jesus (the Lamb) marry a man.... he marries many men....
You just proved, scripturally that gay marriage is supported by the bible.
KryptKraken 3 years ago
Ufortunately you proved you have a reading level below a six grader, that the level the Bible is written in. You took it out of context just like every believer or non-believer. Y not read the whole chapter, better yet the whole book of revelation. The bibles does talk about homo. ur right. But never condones it. Please read carefully. with respect
steelfaith
steelfaith99 3 years ago
Wow, so now I have the reading level of a sixth grader? I was following YOUR premise. You should show a little more respect, instead of just talking about it. You should follow some of that bible yourself, before yelling at other people for not following it....
KryptKraken 3 years ago
like i said i wish i didnt say that but you make it as if you are a keeper of knowledge when you clearly havent read that passage in its context. Im srry for saying you have the reading level of a six grader. But you must relize that i do follow the word of God. Unfortunately, not pointing to you, but non-believers will always have difficulty understanding the passages and prophesies of the Lord. Since its by Him it is reveiled.
steelfaith99 3 years ago
Why is it steelfaith, that when the bible says something u like, it is to be takin literally. When it says something you don't like, or that disagrees with your position, THAN it's a matter of context, and we're all wrong?
What about YOUR context?
How about making gossiping Illegal?
KryptKraken 3 years ago
Im not, All i said was that Marriage should not be redefined on the whimofpeoplewhodonot believe in the Lord in the first place.Dont listen to me, my context is corrupt.Readit for yourself in context.its ALL writtenin context.what the Bible says that i think is wrong, then guess what.I'M WRONG.And i must change my ways.Like the Lord doesnnt want me to sleep with my gf before marrage. That is a hard thing now adays. But i stand firm in the Lord and dontdo it.What has the B say that i disagree with
steelfaith99 3 years ago
I understand your feelings towards 'non believers' but remember, there are at least as many 'believers' who misrepresent the scriptures. After all, its in revelations that we read where in the last days, christians will be persecuted by those who claim to be christians. Thats scripture taken in absolute context, where deep understanding is required. "the synagouges of satan"
KryptKraken 3 years ago
not to sound insulting but i am impressed, u are absolutly correct. The falling away from the truth of scripture in the church is definately apparant in American and European churches. But what happens is that those Christians who claim to know the truth, missuse the passages of the Bible. 2 peter dives into this misuse of scripture. But thanks for the conversation. Again i pray everyday for this nation for God has blesssed nation. and we seem to like to bite that hand that feeds us lol.
steelfaith99 3 years ago
But again u must relieze the people hearts at the time. The Pharassies and the people wanted the Messiah, not Jesus, to over through the Roman government. Read what the attitudes of the San Haddrin and the Hebrew people where of the time and the Maccabean revolt. The Bible gives clear distinction between the believer in God and the self-rightouesness of man.
steelfaith99 3 years ago
Again ill emphasize. Gay marriage is NOT SUPPORTED BY THE BIBLE. I just pray and minister to those who are in thoughs life styles. just as i pray and minister to Guys who sleep with 10 girls to be cool. Again i didnt mean to insult you about the reading level. I love our dialogue though? please keep in touch i want to make true understanding of what the Bible says.
steelfaith99 3 years ago
the sword cut both ways. keep your bible in the church. not my house.
KryptKraken 3 years ago
I dont believe in violence against anyone but when it comes to gay people it is a lifestyle
black people cannot change their colour, and if many of you supporting this would not be here if it where not for a male and female coming together, nature speaks for itself nature is not perfect and maybe this is why we have these human disorders.......
chalatenango234 3 years ago
The idea that justifys a minority groups civil rights, because their lifestyle is a choice is literally justifying civil rights violations against every religious group in America. Religion is a lifestyle? A choice, right?
Congradulations for that enlightening comment chalatenango234, You just made an argument against the entire concept of America being a place where ppl can worship freely....

you can read my reply......

Right on, Mike. The USA better watch out for him in four years... President Huckabee? It's a very strong possibility.
sgjake21 3 years ago
What a horrible discussion this is. Whats worse, being burnt alive on a stake or being hung on a noose? A plantation or concentration camp? Which would YOU choose Mr. Huckabee? And exactly how much physical abuse does a people have to endure to be considered worthy of equal rights? Why is a Christian man, who should be the first to show compassion, so often the last? Thank God, that God didn't allow Huckabee to be our President... read a book on the topic b4 commenting please.

I believe the homosexual community seem to be very aggressive and forceful in pushing thier agenda on everybody else. Also they should not compare gay rights to civil rights. The signs said "colored or white" not "gay or straight" no one knows who you're sleeping with, but you can't hide your skin color.

Discrimination is discrimination. Put a different label on the target and some seem to think that it's OK.

So, because gays are murdered or attacked as often as he thinks is right, we don't deserve to be treated equally?
What about 14 year old Larry King? Shot by a classmate in California because he asked him to be his valentine.
What about Matthew Shepard who was beaten, tied to a fence post and later died due to his injuries?
Yes, gays aren't AS attacked, physically, as blacks were. Why? Because homosexuality is not obvious by simply looking at someone.
Huckabee is disgusting.
jtaker 3 years ago
And a transwoman was shot and killed in Syracuse on FRIDAY. The media just doesn't publicize it.
Obviously if Huckabee doesn't want to know about this stuff, he won't.. therefore thinking it doesn't happen, because he doesn't know about it.
I agree with you completely. ^
streetlion8 3 years ago
studies have shown the male/male relationships are significantly more violent then male/female or female/female relationships.
you can look at government numbers and see the most hate crimes against gays are committed by fellow gays.
CIDaily 3 years ago
The viloence makes me sick. My best friend is gay and I worry about him all the time b/c of these HATE crimes. I can't begin to understand that kind of hate. I consider myself a "conservative" but I fully support gay rights and now the young "conservatives" need to educate the old. We grew up around openly gay people so we don't live in the ignorance and we must bring change! I'm a former Marine and I fought for the rights of ALL Americans not just straight Americans!!!!
nola456 3 years ago
The only hate and/or violence I have seen lately is coming from the Gay Activists. Attacking a 65 year old woman no less. The angry mobs screaming bigoted slurs against a group of Christians and threatening to kill them is not helpful.
I don't think anyone is against the individual civil rights of gay citizens.
jodale1972 3 years ago
jtaker gave some recent examples of violence against homosexuals. The attack on the 65 year old woman was also disgusting and should not be tolerated.

Huckabee/Palin 2012!!!!
val1224 3 years ago
He also argued that gay civil rights are not the same as black civil rights. Just because blacks had more violence against them in their history means they deserve more civil rights than gays & lesbians? Ridiculous!
He should realize the main reason blacks have had more violence is because they cannot hide who they are. If gays & lesbians had a physical characteristic they couldn't hide, they certainly would have seen a significant increase of violence against them over the years.
poolaka 3 years ago
dont forget blacks must not think it is the smae either because they voted overwhelmingly yes on 8 and there are also black people who are gay
stefj1984 3 years ago
Most people who are reliously conservative voted yes on prop 8-for whatever reason- and most blacks are religously conservative and socially liberal. What blacks went through and what gays are going through are incomparable except in the respect that gays are now being marginalized, and that is not ok. I, for example, am black and not a conservative christian and I voted NO wholeheartedly.
ladiamondnubian 3 years ago
Blacks were denied the EXACT same rights as others. Gays have the EXAXT same rights as others. Every man can marry a woman and every woman can marry a man. Also when women got the rights of men, we didn't start calling women...men. So even if gays do get all the rights of man/woman marriages, they do not have a civil right to be called the same thing.
CIDaily 3 years ago
Huckabee's comments on gays at 4:50 shows he doesn't believe in equality for all. He claims Christian bashing goes on just like gay bashing. When was the last time some teenagers beat the crap out of a kid after school because he was Christian?
Of the bashing that goes on by all factions that dislike Christianity in America, gay bashing is certain to outnumber them exponentially. It's also practically guaranteed to be non-violent. There's no way you could make the same claim with gay bashing.

I second that.

HUUUUCK!
He needs to quit picking on Romney, but I do not think that is going to happen as they are naturally going to be contenders.
It is funny having a liberal try to compare destroying marriage to human rights battles in breaking down segregation and expect to get away with it against Huckabee.
chukmaty 3 years ago
Yeah...I liked how Huck framed the comparison of individuals rights vs. a re-definition of marriage. If bi-sexuals want marriage rights based on their orientation then it would dictate they could marry a man and a women. This craziness could go on to no end and often at the expense of children.
Anyways, it is good to hear Huckabee make a good case to an audience that needs to hear it.
CIDaily 3 years ago
It is a tough debate. Most people do not realize that the defense of marriage is more of a civic argument, not a religious/personal morality one.
Marriage between one man and one woman is neccessary on a civic level and is inherently definable through princible of the common denominator in reproduction.
Being a natural structure, even elderly or infertile couples fall into this natural definition on a civic basis.
chukmaty 3 years ago
Uh, I'm not bisexual, but I know more than enough to say this:
Someone being bisexual doesn't mean they're polygamous. Bisexual means that one is attracted to both male and female genders. They are just as likely to be polygamous or monogamous as any other human being.
You being heterosexual doesn't mean that you want to marry several wo/men, does it?
Bisexuals ARE fighting.. for the same thing gay people are- the right to marry someone of the same sex. They aren't asking for 2 at a time.
