Somewhere in the user's manual it says that the unit should operate at a position higher than your computer, i.e., it should not be operating leveled.
I too had the same problem, but instead of placing it levelled with the computer case, I laid it on top of the case (with towels sitting underneath the watercooling unit to prevent scratches). I strongly recommend QDCs, totally worth the money. It provides great portability, serviceability, and manageability.

@nawkwan true, it's normally on top of the case. I had to put it on the table when my case was on it's side.
