  • Another example of the shameful deed the IWF did when they deleted the old and REAL world records

  • In Soviet Russia Bowser rescues princess from Super Mario.

  • whats his body weight? just wondering

  • Kurlovich snatch of 215 looked much better and he was good for 217.5. I don't recognize this awkward lift as the world record and I consider Kurlovich record of 215 is the world record

  • @khonfosh Since when is your opinion regarded higher than those of Olympic judges?

  • @stepanianov Nope, we are not particularly genetically gifted with strength. There was a system to select the best genetically gifted kids and there was this one extraordinary man...

  • Its like an oversized Ron Jeremy

  • @stepanianov Hello, thanks for your answer. but i don't understand one thing about the food of chine people, can you tell me more about that, eat chine people not good(organic) ?

  • @stepanianov lol the feta comment was about a joke that John Broz said Krastev pulled on him when he was asking krastev to coach him.

  • Wow.

  • Wow I didn't know that John Candy was a weightlifter

  • What is the reason that men from Eastern Europe/ Russia are so powerfull?

  • He looks like durp

  • Seems really unfair that the IWF wiped all the records clean. This deserves to be recognised as the world record :(

  • Nuts.

  • The speed!!!!

  • BRAVO VRATSA

  • Respect bolgarian weigthlifters from Russia . Уважение , болгарской тяжело-атлетической школе из России .

  • Antonio was my weightlifting coach for a few years. He's one of the coolest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. And he made my lifting 20x better than what it would have been, good friend and a good coach

  • @justify612 how much did he eat to be so big while lifting multiple times a day to max?

  • @desembodic

lots and lots of Bulgarian feta cheese

  • Krastev snatched 222.5 in training, wonder if anyone ever beat that in training

  • Mark Henry's best snatch is 180 kg and C&J is 220 kg.

  • lol, I found out he squated over 800lbs on the same rack I do squats on, I wanted to take home the rack.

  • Best snatchers: 1.) Krastev 216 kg (1987) 2.) Kurlovich 215 kg (1989) 3.) Rezazadeh 213 kg (2003) 4.) Gunyashev 212,5 kg (1988) 5.) Chigichev 211 kg (2005)

and unofficial: Sypko 216,5 kg (1990)

  • This guy use to party like a madman... they all did, they also smoked like crazy - I went to the Worlds in Vancouver and there were more lifters and coaches outside smoking than there were people in the lifting hall !

I saw Krastev lift in a small meet in Sarnia, Ontario years after - a shadow of his former self but still fast for a big man... he was in the country training to be on the WWF circuit which never happened.

  • Wasn't Mark Henry's best clean & jerk that same 216? And the wrestling promoters insist on calling Henry the world's strongest man. Also Varbanov jerked 1.1 pound less than Henry while weighing 242 pounds less.

  • at atlanta henry clean and jerked the same weight as the top snatch

  • To be fair Henry benched over 550lbs at age 18 and eventually pulled 940lbs in the deadlift but yeah his best C&J wasn't much more than 450 and he just plain was not competitive in O-lifting. Accomplished Powerlifters have not been able to transition into o-lifters in general Shane Hamman is the best so far. Former weightlifters have set world records in powerliftiing and won major contests but again to be fair burn out faster (in o-lifting). PL's have put up WR's at 49 and 50 years old

  • man krastev was strong!!!!

  • bulgarian man are very strong !!! he is one one of us

  • HOW DID HE DO THAT THATS INCREADIBLE!

  • wow, that looked quite easy. if he didnt lose balanced and stumble, it would have been a very easy looking lift.

  • this is still the most anyone has snatched...its too bad its not now listed as the official world record

  • Yes the earlier lifters were cheated---because the new ones couldn't beat them. However, I still think the newer ones have used banned substances. Nevertheless not all show it on testing. There is room to assume some are clean.

  • I think Madonna has a bigger snatch.

  • HAHAHA best comment of the year

  • true

  • @amarone1956 lol dont be like dat bruh

  • that guy looks so dopey lol. he was just told to do that snatch and he does it as if he doesnt even understand what hes doing

  • amazing, but what is Krastev's best C&J?

  • doping..?

  • I'd like to see you get that lift even with all the supplements in the world at your disposal. Show some respect to an all-time great.

  • yeah cause anybody can just snatch 475lbs if they use the right drugs....

  • sure sure lazy ass mothafaka

  • you are the idiot they all use drugs, if you believe different you should hold your breath until it goes dark.

  • ahh! they all use it!!! then its okay!;)

Thank u for sorting that out

  • who gives a shit about drugs?

  • I'd be infinitely amazed if I could lift 215 kilos off the floor, never mind zip it overhead in one shot. My hat is off to Krastev and all the great lifters from ANY country. And that goes for the ladies too.

  • cough 216...:)

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bulgarian weightlifters are the best in the world because of one extraordinary man: Ivan Abadjiev!!! Respect!!!

  • wow, i don't even snatch 80kg yet.

  • All time snatch records:

    1.) Krastev 216 kg (1987)

    2.) Kurlovich 215 kg (1989)

    3.) Rezazadeh 213 kg (2003)

    4.) Gunyashev 212,5 kg (1988)

    5.) Chigichev 211 kg (2005)

    Unofficial:

    Tsypko 216,5 kg (1990)

  • 6. ZAHARIEVITCH 210KG @ SEOL @ 242!

  • 6.)Koklyaev 210kg

  • Rezazadeh did 220 kgs before he retired a month ago, which caused a major hand injury.

  • krastev got a 222.5 in training, but it doesnt matter as it wasnt in a comp

  • that wasn't in training, it was in some Iranian competition. ill bet he could do more than that in training, and if you look at rezazadehs lifts you can see he looks like he is doing it with less effort. i personally think rezazadeh is or was the best lifter of all time.

  • Why it isn't the WR then?

  • u go head and ask the people who record the world records that question, not me. im just telling you what i saw in ahvaz, iran which is a small city.

  • The weight classes have been reduced from 10 to 8 thus nullifying the old world records which means suleymanoglu's 190 @ 60 is gone and taranenko's 266.

  • When the weight classes were realigned (due to doping allegations in the late 80's), the IWF retired all previous records and started fresh in the new weight classes.

  • I'm aware that the weightclasses have been changed twice since Krastev's days. I was talking about the all time record.

  • for me, the greatest snatcher ever

  • The reason the men from Eastern Europe are so powerful when they step on the platform is because they ditched the mindset of "You have to let muscles recover" I'm using a strength training regime from Bulgaria and I have huge number gains.

  • Yes, I think most lifters lift like that, they lift like crazy for couple of weeks and then when they take a little brake they come back a lot stronger. And that of course also very common in almost every squatting or benching progaram, to achieve that overtrained state, that is when your body must adapt.

  • Bulgarian Power!

  • I read in the weightlifting encyclopedia that he snatched 222.5kg and clean and jerked 265 in training, pity it wasn't in competition because i would have loved to have seen those lifts.

  • he is not from the Soviet Union, he's from Bulgaria

  • he was from the eastern bloc we don;t have to be so exact

  • Another Russian or someone from around that area?! Another powerful lifter from the Eastern European countries, or was he from the Soviet Union. They are really keeping the tradition on having strong weightlifters. Great lift!!!

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • Krastev`s 216 is alltime acknowledged world record of the "old list". Contrary to Tsypko he did it in international competition. Krastev narrowly missed ca. 225 with straps in training and 220 w/o in competition...

  • wow do u have a vid of any of those? wut competition was it?

  • The camera worked sucked. First of all it cuts in a fraction of a second after he snatches, then you miss a part o his feet.

  • All time snatch records:

    1.) Tsypko 216,5 kg (1990)

    2.) Krastev 216 kg (1987)

    3.) Kurlovich 215 kg (1989)

    4.) Rezazadeh 213 kg (2003)

    5.) Gunyashev 212,5 kg (1988)

    6.) Chigichev 211 kg (2005)
