If you were ever to venture into any black church in the states what do you hear? would that be over-singing. The truth is and let no one ever tell you any different that over singing is the pain of a people that. That is why for the most part only African American women can do it so beautifully, they endured the most pain. Check your history books (black history) people and educate yourself before you say "she's over-singing. The black singers of the modern era wish they could sing as good...
@thegoosebeats I totally agree with you. As a 40 yr old African American male who grew up in the church, This is just how we're taught to sing. In youth choir at 7 yrs old, it's just what we're taught. Since, I've grown to appreciate all types of voices, but "oversinging" is in our heritage.
While Mariah or Beyonce may be able to sing across different registers they can't touch the lady in her prime for the registers she doe's hit and systane. And for any clown (yes I said, clown) that feel she over sings would have to be a child of the late eighties when fools like Puffy and the new regime coin the phase "over singing".
I agree...this is from her first album...her second album is GOSPEL..and currently she's independently working on a 3rd album...check her out on MYSPACE......
Eh, no. Desiree is very talented, but oversings like hell, and really has no lower/bottom register. It seems that she has two registers: high and higher. Beyonce and Mariah have AMAZING lower registers, technique, and know that you don't have to put on a show everytime you perform. Desiree's performance for Maya Angelou was a hot mess; totally all over the place. She does way too much.
Who cares about clothes? I surely do not. So, back to the topic: Singing. As I said, Desiree is talented, but it seems like she can only go high, and higher. She has no substance or resonance in her lower registers. She doesn't have "a lot of music in different ranges," she has only displayed a high belting range, and her whistle register. Mariah and Beyonce can sing all across the spectrum, not only belt and whistle.
Whoa, homie!! This is mad rare! First time I saw her was on Motown Merry Christmas in 1987 (we watch the tape my father taped every year for the pat 20 years). First thing you gotta do is to remove the words and tags that say "Soul Train" or else Cornelius productions will have this video yanked off youtube immediatley. Do it quick!!
Her voice is hypnotizing! Love her Voice!

Eh, well at least she sings with her clothes on like a lady. The other two seem stay heated.
BTW, Dez has a lot of music in different ranges... including the whistle register which is difficult to do.
