I am using FCP3 and most of my videos are recorded from a regular Mini DV (standard non HD) tape to which I copy to DVDs and finalize with a DVD recorder player. I want to bring now on to the Mac HDD. What is the best format to use to preserve the original quality or improve upon it is optimal for FCP3 (Final Cut Pro 3)?

If you know anything about final cut, what code should I render the final edits to?
