u get on the rail perfectly but when ur bs boardsliding u need to lean forward keep ur weight balanced in the middle and when ur coming off just twist off, ur kickflips r awesome though, jsut jump higher and briong ur arms up and suck up to add more style
when you boardslide u wanna ride parrell to the rail then ollie and len forward because if u len back even a little bit your ass will hit the rail it happened to me 7 times
My friend Douglas was bragging that he could do a boardslide and we said do it then so we grabed my rail and let him try it. he fell on his ass and shoved the rail up his ass!!!!
hey can u help me with kickflips i can flip the board and everything but my backfoot always lands behind me or beside me ive tried to bend it up ive nearly landed em but im still havin trouble :( help?
a lot of that is probably committment, but try jumping straight up over the top of the board. When I learned them i would have to focus directly at the center of the board and really think hard about jumping straight up. Once I did this I started landing them. If you put a sticker or mark in the center of your board it may help to so you have a visual to look at. Hope that helps and good luck!
If you can't yet do boardslides, then you should just try taking it outside where you've got more room, and try getting more speed. That can sometimes help. What I try is to boardslide, and if I land it, try it again only further back to improve the distance I go. Also, don't be afraid to fall! If you're afraid to fall, then skateboarding isn't what you should do.
yeah I need to try it some other ways but space is limited in my garage. Once the weather gets nice I'll take the rail outside and have more room. But thanks!
ooooh that's what I am afraid of when I try grinds... I really don't know. I just kind of went for it and I haven't gotten hurt doing them yet so my confidence keeps building. Biggest thing I'd say is just to tell yourself to lean forward. I don't think you can get hurt quite as bad by doing that. If you're leaning too far forward and can't get a slide, then just gradually try leaning a little further back until you find the right spot. Or... wear a helmet and lots of pads and go for it!
HAHA, you can't land a boardslide on a 2" rail, i landed on a 4", but im not so good at freestyle, could u share some more freestyle trick tips? please....
They're wrist guards to help brace the wrist and protect the palm of the hand for falls. You can order them online off ebay or skate websites. Or local sporting good stores or even walmart or target should have them.
Thanks! I've been skating since the end of july so right at 5 months. Although I had learned to ollie back when I was like 11 or 12 so that helped some when I started.
because if I didn't I'd probably have two broken wrists by now. When I fall I immediately put my hands out and my wrists/palms take a lot of abuse. So I do what I can to protect them.
thanks. I KNOW I lean back. :) I just have a really hard time telling my body to lean forward. Then when I do lean forward I sometimes don't get a very good pop. Viscous cycle. :) Just need more practice!
yeah I still haven't perfected them yet, but I've skated that deck for probably 3 months now and still haven't broken it so I'm not too worried right now. I do want to get them down on bolts though. :)
i think skating on rougher (not so rough you cant skate) concrette (sp?) you'll have more control over the board, also i watched one of your freestyle videos, your pretty good! im definetly going to subscribe
I know! It sucks though because my garage is TOO slick and my driveway is TOO rough and then the parking lot I like to skate in isn't available because of the weather. Oh well. Just gotta make it through winter. Thanks for subscribing too!

You'll get boardslides, take the rail outside and dont be afraid to get speed. Good job on the kickflips (fakie?) kinda sketchy but not bad

You may be leaning back a bit. Try leaning forward more.

thanks. I KNOW I lean back. :) I just have a really hard time telling my body to lean forward. Then when I do lean forward I sometimes don't get a very good pop. Viscous cycle. :) Just need more practice!

Try bring your front foot up higher when you slide your foot up. That should keep your body up straight. But then again, I may be completely wrong.
I think I may have said the exact same thing in the SC thread. Lol.
HazzaDaShiz 4 years ago
hmm I'll have to try that. Makes sense. :)
egotway 4 years ago
careful wit your heelflips/kickflips, you can break your board real easily when you land on the tail
