  • I love this band. They never seemed to find a big following here in the States. This and "Roll to Me" were really the only hits they had here. Too bad. Really good band.

  • Thumbs up if you hear this all the time at work

  • @Jimmythekid300 Would that I could

  • I can so relate to this song.

  • @84heroes1 Me as well! Appreciation doesnt have an age limit but it does have a taste and IQ limit!

  • @martinwilliamrandall So right. These guys were big on the local alternative station here in Phoenix - back in the 90s when there WAS an alternative station. Phoenix is such a weird place that the only thing that has ever made it feel like a 'community' was the alternative radio, from 1968-78 and then for a few years in the 90s. The rest of the time it's "leave me the f--- alone!"

  • @50GreenDodge So underrated in there day. It was only people that really appreciate a song with a good lyric!

  • They should never have taken that break between their second last album. They might still be kicking around.....Saying that , i think they will be quids in if they regroup and start touring again...

  • GREAT SONG! So many memories back...

  • bottom line.... what goes around, comes around!

  • Woooo this and 'Driving with the breaks on' are my favs!!

  • True Musicians

  • One of my all-time favorite break-up songs. I remember this song being in pretty heavy rotation back in the summer of 92, but the little twist at the end still cracks me up.

  • grandiosos recuerdos en b/ca b/ja año 92....

  • Who could dislike this? (15 dislikes)

Del Amitri is one of my all time favorite bands!!

  • like Engelbert Humperdinck? haha great name

  • The name Del Amitri was a joke. No one in the band had the name. Justin Currie came up with it. Ask him.

  • Great song. Its funny you only seem to appreciate good music as you get older..

  • @LordDanofLondon Absolutely!

  • @LordDanofLondon Man, ain't that the fuckin' truth?

  • @kajasanvean Totally! You dont have to be good anymore! Music as an Art has been "sodomised " by wanna be talentless ,fools. The latest glaring example was I saw Katie Perry on a TV award show singing live .I think her songwriters are Max Martin- and his off sider they have written everything from backstreet boys to britney , songs like FIrework and Califronia are great pop ..but OMG her singing was so bad it was unbeleivebale she could sing so flat and not feel it let alone hear it,

  • I just randomly remembered this song from the early 90's, and went here. How did all this time creep up on us?

  • my friends dad used to be in that band before they did any major recording :L just found that out thar

  • Del Amitri always help me and still is helping me through shit times. Thanks to Justin and the boys for writing stuff that is so relevant to me!

  • My love life pretty much to a T.

  • there was a wee window were del amitri were among the best and most succesful bands in britain. then came britpop. some great tunes tho

  • @andymcb10572 summed up very well rememeber this from my time in OZ just pure class

    jim o'c OZ88

  • can anyone tell me what does it mean by ' del amitri ' and in what lanquage ? i'm a guy from hongkong , far east . thanks !

  • @919rickw "Del Amitri" is not words in a language, it's a name. It's the name of the music group. "By" in front of a name means it was written by or created by that person. Or in this case sung by or performed by Del Amitri. I hope that clears it up for you. If their name is from another language I don't know. Possibly Spanish or French.

  • @Miracle490d "Del" is a common nick-name in Britain for men named "Derek", "Derrick", etc. "Amitri" is a family name. "Del Amitri" is a man's name.

  • @DrewMurray1874 Okay, then I guess I don't know the name of his group. Or does he just go by the name like Michael Jackson, John Michael Montgomery, and so forth?

  • Thumbs up if you were the last to know who sang this song....

  • Soooooooooooooooooo true and kinda sad really

  • I didn't even know the artist but it's such a good song, it's been stuck in my head the whole day! What a singalong!

  • completly forgot about this tune until i was at a record fair today and so happened picked up the best of from del amitri and this song came straight to mind, and i this it so much takes me back

  • i sometimes forget how good this song is

  • Can someone give the list of good but not-so-heard-of music like this?

  • check out fellow scottish band who have been compared to del amitri! Third Connection Far Away

  • very weird deja vu moment. I completely recognize this song, but can;t ever recall hearing it... I mean obviously I did... weird! I remember their song "Roll to Me" (Ha ha! I bought the single on cassette back in the day ) ;) Obviously this is a good song that has somehow slipped through my mental cracks. Glad to find it again!

  • thanks princi1974 for this vid

  • nice song! Loooveee iiitT!

  • nice song! Loooveee iiitT!

  • Most of their songs are great. They deserved a better fate in the states

  • Love delemitri since my old mum played them all these years ago ... Great scottish band deserved more and sadly never reached there full

  • Great Lyrics, Raw Guitar

  • This is one of my faves...

  • such a good song

    such a great band

  • another group trying to be the Gin Blossoms

  • @SKeletor99999

dude, these guys pred-date the Gin Blossoms by at least eight years.

  • @SKeletor99999

dude, these guys pre-date the Gin Blossoms by at least eight years.

  • @SKeletor99999 get your timeline right. gin blossome isn't even in the same half of the decade-let alone the same country

  • @teacherofcrazy That's kind of an overstatement... obviously they were recording b4 the Gin Blossoms, but here in the U.S. , their chart topper "Roll to Me" was being played on the radio stations at the exact same time of Gin Blossoms biggest releases of "New miserable Experience"... consider me guilty by association:*)

  • @teacherofcrazy Okay.. I understand the reaction to such comments but the association isn't as far away as decades or countrys (music transcends all). Del Amitri's biggest hit in the U.S. "Roll to Me" off their Twisted CD was released in '95., and the Gin Blossoms released "New Miserable Experience" in '92.. BOTH were played over and over on the radio stations ... along with Hootie and the Blowfish. So skeletor's ignorant comments aside, ur harsh reaction was off base. BTW, Love them both!

  • @marilynk1122 i didn't mean for my reaction to be construed as 'harsh' in any way. nor was i trying to shout ignorance or any other decree. i was simply stating that a harsh simliarity of the two and the implied 'copying' wasn't anything to be concerned about.

but i do understand why such things are issues-i mean it's so difficult to come up with original music these days, it's only natural that people would be suspicious

  • The last to know how you’re feeling

The last to know where you are

The last to know if you’re happy now

Or if he’s cheating on you like I cheated on you

And you were the last to know

  • Always the last to know how you’re feeling

The last to know where you are

The last to know if you’re happy now

Or if he’s pleading with you like I pleaded with you

If you go don’t let me be the last to know

Don’t let me be the last

    To know

Creation’s gone crazy, the tv’s gone mad

Now you’re the only sane thing that I have

  • We spent summers up beyond the bay

And you said these are such perfect days

That if the bomb drops baby, I want to be the last to know

But now you’re living up behind the hill

And though we share the same city and feel the same sun

    When your winter comes

I’ll be the last to know

  • Comment removed

  • So you’re in love with someone else Someone who burns within your soul And it looks like I’m the last to know I hear you’ve never felt so alive So much desire beyond control And as usual I am the last to know The last to know how you’re feeling The last to know where you are The last to know if you’re happy now Or if he’s treating you like I treated you Or if he’s cruel I’ll be the last to know
  • 1 of Scotlands finest ;)

  • Greatttt song, I love it

  • 13 people - Why would you dislike this song !?! It's like saying you dislike chocolate, it just doesn't make sense !

  • Been following / a fan of the Dels forever! So underrated, but glad I have all of their records. They just got better and better. Saw them live one time and they are in my top three shows ever. They were so relaxed and tight and totally entertaining. You could tell that they really enjoyed themselves and had everyone singing along, which you CAN do because, surprise, they write SONGS! I listen to these guys all the time and every song is on my ipod. Thanks for posting these vids!

  • Young Hootie: youtube.com/watch?v=SjFc39wAiFc

  • Raw Guitar

  • Looking forward to seeing Justin with The Ryan Quigley Big Band and Orchestra - a tribute to The Beatles - at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Fri 8th October 2010.

Justin, Carol Kidd, Jacqui Dankworth, Julie Fowlis and a whole load of other guests and full string section - gonna be awesome! In aid of Yorkhill Children's Hospital

  • Totally agree with dragonfitter, they were brilliant live too, should be giants,MTV crime against humanity.

  • learned this on guiter to sing to ex wife

  • @shaunb1973 adorable!

  • icarus never got home, being the mythological boy who flew to the sun with wax wings....thus kinda fallin to earth..

  • I was a DJ for 21 years, from 1974 to 1995. I used to listen to bands like this or go to folk clubs as an antidote to what I was playing in the clubs. Good music is good music, full stop. Del Amitri make/made good music - Amen!

  • @kitesurf58phil I was a DJ, although I began in 1965, and I did much the same as you to void my mind of the sort of poor quality junk that would be requested by the masses. The sheer joy of hearing good, accomplished musicians is, as you say, the antidote to such lyric gems as Disco Stomp (Hamilton Bohannon) and legions of other mediocrities. Enjoy the rest of your life in peace and prosperity.

  • who was iccarus did he ever make it home?

  • I'll be Blastin' loads!

  • Great song so hard to find songs that mean something these days, actual musicians playing instruments and singing dont see much of that anymore.

  • now this is music.

  • So youre in love with someone else

Someone who burns within your soul

And it looks like I am the last to know

I hear youve never felt so alive

    So much desire beyond control

And as usual I am the last to know

  • If he cheated on you like i cheated on you. Ohhhhh. You was the last to know.

  • yours was be my downfall....many years ago... this is mine for you

  • brilliant band!

  • Re my previous comment - I got through the first audition for the X Factor, singing in Gallic, then tried this at the second audition, and got a no - ironically from a Scottish lass. Still love it though, and I'll be back next year in drag pretending to be subnormal - guaranteed golden ticket from what I've seen. God bless the nutters

  • ...don't let me be the last to know!

Love you guys, hope you're doing well!

  • where are these guys gone to?

  • they could play instruments and sing without loads of effect and they certainly didnt rap so MTV had them killed in case people relised what real music is about

  • @dragonfitter Quiet right, I say. MTV has long ago abandoned REAL music for tripe.

  • @dragonfitter Sorry I meant 'quite' :-)

  • @dragonfitter well said

  • @dragonfitter theyre still going, just not a commercial band!!!

  • @dragonfitter how did you know,!!!!!!!!!?? it was supposed to be a secret !! lol

  • @dragon21247 i am onto mtv it has put my life in great danger

  • @dragonfitter I don't think people do know what real music is these days. Thats just the problem

  • Justin Currie, the lead singer is usually hanging out and about in central Glasgow,in regular everyday bars and coffee houses, apparently a real down to earth guy,my sons chatted to him in some club in Jamaica Street in the city centre.

  • I love this song, unfortunately, the story of my life. So poignant, so simple, expresses so well the end of a relationship. Heartbreak and beauty.

  • reminds me of being in my dads car listening to atlantic 252

  • Longwave radio atlantic 252? Classic!

  • altlantic 252. Now theres a blast from the past. I was listening to that too around the time this came out

  • I loved Atlantic 252!!

  • yet another great scottish band

  • I always feel happy when i bump into Del Amitri songs.. they were a very unappreciated band in their time mostly because of their sometimes very poor videos. Their music is so well crafted that they deserved so much more .

  • They deserve so much more recognition.

    They're awesome.

    I love this song!

  • my favourite song ! (=

  • a relucted thing... isnt it

  • This song reminds me of when i did my Market gardening Aprienticeship(Vegetable growing) back in the early 90's in Melbourne,Victoria,Australia! wonderfull Song! Thankyou for posting!!!

  • hey Kindbluey it reminds me of skining up on a hot summers day whilst paint n decorating in blackpool england ...not the same i suppose but wot a song!!!!!

  • I first heard this song while sitting in the Charlotte, North Carolina, airport, waiting to fly back to Washington, D.C. I loved it from the first time I heard it. It brings back great memories.

  • damn ive been looking for this song for since the 90' i thoght this was i figment of my imagination.

reminds me of summer love1 i am gonna import this song in my MUGEN video game!

  • Del Amitri - Brilliant!!!

  • My band won a competition back in the early 90s to play support to del amitri in Dublin .

When the owner of the venue found out we where all under 18 years of age he would not let us on the premisis and we couldnt play . We got to meet the guys though and they where all bang on.

We ended up hanging around outside listening to the gig and dancing with passers by !

  • This song contains the wonderment factor placing it at the top of my list. It also holds great sentimental value for me. When I was younger I started working as a sales assisant in a clothing store and was trained in men's formal and casual clothing. I was then offered a position at the flag store and in charge of the Mens Casual Dept. This song carried me through those trying times. It helped take my mind off my daily chores in wondering who I might insist on being the last to know about!!

  • Fantastic song!!

    love it!! XxX

  • i used to think this was an early rob thomas/matchbox 20 song

  • omigod i LOVE this song!

  • Love the Dels, I've been a fan for a long time, but I haven't listened to their stuff for a while. I have many happy memories from their songs. It's nice to watch this again, now I'm off to find 'Be My Downfall' :D

  • i just discovered del amitri a couple of weeks ago. Man i've been missing out.

  • I'm jealous. You've got a lot of great Del Amtiri music to get acquainted with. Check out the videos of Justin's solo tour last year. He did a lot of Del stuff and he sounded awesome. Some good videos on here

  • Every Dels song has "that line" that always comes to the front of your memory when you hear it again. In this one: WHEN THE BOMB DROPS, BABY, I WANNA BE THE LAST TO KNOW: is that particular line in this superb song!

  • Vita, I'm glad it finally registered with you. There's hope for you yet. Hang in there.

  • You must be a genius to work that out from the lyrics! I never noticed that before...

    *turns off sarcasm button

  • Hahaha...vitalogy, thank you for making me laugh!

    *turns off giggles button

  • I remember the first time I heard this song...I was sitting in the airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, waiting for a plane to take me back to Washington, D.C., and the flight was delayed. So I took out my Walkman and put the radio on. This song came on, and I loved it from the first time I heard it. That was so many years ago, I lost count. But when I hear this song, it brings me back to that day in the airport.

    Thanks for the memory.
