  • and thats probably because its not a ford procedure. some people r set in their ways and cant be shown anything new. when a guy thats owns the same truck, and says " i couldnt belive how bad it was" when he did it the first time, i would take his advice. i do mine every oil oil change. NOT doing it, in my eyes, is like putting the oil pan drain plug back in without letting the pan empty. the idea is to change to oil.. all of it. would you just add more clean water to take a bath after someone?

  • Well I'll say, after checking it in my trucks when I first learned about it a while back, It was nasty. These trucks are taken care of religiously and when I took that oil of the top it was horrible. If you get to about 200,000 miles and the oil in your top end is still nice then thats great, but Im glad I change mine around every 10k. When I learned about it and did it to my both my trucks one with 400k miles, and one with 200k, It was like black elmer's glue.

  • @TheTeesofTexas Just curious, what year trucks do you have? Do they idle a lot? My "96 has low milage for its age and with it being more of a passenger/camper tower truck it never idled that much. What oil do you use? Thanks!

  • @macgeodave

My trucks idle very little. I have a 2000 and a 2002. the 2000 is a straight up hauler (400k) and the 2002 is my all purpose git r dun daily driver, with commute being 90% highway. They both idle very little, especially the hauler. I wouldn't be surprised if you are right about not needing to do it, but peace of mind makes everyone (Mostly me) feel better. They are changed at as close to 5k miles as possible with motorcraft everything. Your truck looks immaculate btw, nice

  • ive talked to 3 ford mechanics an they say no.. 1 guy thought i was crazy

  • thats 11 miles not very much bro

  • I view it as cheap insurance to do a top end oil flush. Better an hour of flushing the HPOP system than $3K in injectors.

  • @spencnaz I agree, and its not that difficult to do. I believe its more of an issue for long idle service trucks where the oil pressure is low.
