since pageants started. i did dance. my friend danced and we both agree pageants are just like dance. in both girls of all ages pile on makeup, wear flashy clothing, fake hair, and get on a stage to dance doing what you people call "suggestive" moves (which really aren't) both dance and when they get off the stage are sweating and out of breathe if they did it right. its the same thing
Dance is more than just the outter clothing, dance is an art that shows expression and a story. Shows human emotion in a moving canvas. Its also a sport that takes many years to perfect. Makeup and clothes are not even part of the equation. It only makes up 0.00001% of what dance is.
haha you havent been to a little girl's dance recital. i'm not talking broadway type dancing. i'm talking little girls in flashy outfits with tons of makeup and fake hair, dancing to wierd songs.
You mean competition dancers? Thats not real dancing honey. I know exactly what you're talking about. They dance for the flesh and not the soul, dancing for the soul is what real dancers do. Being little girls is not an escuse; its the type of activity you put them in. I know many little girls into gymnastics and dance who dance just as good as many adults. They dance ballet, modern, jazz., hip hop and african. And again, the clothing and makeup is not important. Their techniques are.
i know but they do wear it. in pageants there techniques are one of the most important things as well. i have seen little girls with beauiful expensive hair and makeup and outfits, who lost to a other girls with nice outfits and hair as well, but not as nice as the other persons because their routine is better and they look a lot happier
No, thats not real technique and you have to admit that their clothing, hair, and makeup make up atleeast more than 50% of how they are judged which is different from dance where their technique counts as about 96%
Thats like saying I can't tell segregation was bad if I never expirienced it my self. You don't have to expirience something in order to know its bad.
Wow, you're late. And yes they are. It mean just because you havent expirienced something personally dosent mean you can't see what is wrong with them. Sometimes see and feel are in the same category.
Well I'm sorry but they aren't in the same category so sorry to dissapoint :( but you "people" I swear are like the poparazzi for these kids a few photos that they are not smiling and you automatically think it's wrong, well guess what hun you haven't seen behind the scenes so go ahead keep talking about how you have not experienced any of it and you get all of your info from media sources, oh yes and sorry I'm late
Actually sweetheart, the information I got to know that these child beauty pageants arent good were from child psychologists. Dr. William Pinsof, a clinical psychologist and president of the Family Institute at Northwestern University said, " Being a little Barbie doll says your body has to be a certain way and your hair has to be a certain way. In girls particularly,
this can unleash a whole complex of destructive self-experiences that can lead to eating disorders and all kinds of body distortions in terms of body image
Marcia Summers, an educational psychology professor says
Such contests may give children the perception that being pretty is the only option for popularity and success...Women are judged by their physical attributes and little girls easily pick this up ....When some children win a pageant at that age, they could be thinking they are pretty and better than others.
So are they "poparazzi for these kids" also? these are professionals speaking. So if you have a problem go take it out with them. I take their opinions more seriously than I do yours. Being judge by your outside isnt normal nor healthy for children. I feel sorry that you don't see whats wrong with it. *shakes head* Poor you.
good lord lostchild , has this psychologist you speak of ever been to a beauty pageant? I protested these things when I was in college on the info I got from my professors , well guess what , they were WRONG, and so are you.
How are they wrong? How is your professor wrong? You say what but not the how. Come back to me when you actually can explain your self with evidence. Until then, you have nothing but baseless opinions.
I have been to several of these , my daughter has been in several of these and they have been a great benefit to her , she has high functioning autism and I can assure you these girls are not shallow or mean in any way , and my daughter has found better friends from pageants than anywhere else, yes my professors were wrong, and ill informed from personal experience I can assure you that her body type or disability has never been looked down upon
My daughter is a little bit overweight and no one has ever put any pressure on her to change her size due to her involvement in pageants , and yes she does win and she overalls , its about presentation and routine , beauty pageant is really a bit of a misnomer for a name , they really should be called performance showcases because that is what gets judged, as far as the glitz goes it is the great equalizer , when all the girls look pretty much alike , they really cant be judged on beauty
But they get judged on materialistic and superficial notions. The hairs, the make ups, the tans, the clothes, the way they are teached to stand, walk, and talk. It gives false education on the female gender and our roles from very young. What makes us win, what brings us to the top. Those are the imbeded messages these pageants are teaching little girls. There are soo many alternatives out there with more benefits. Dancing, singing, playing instruments, the arts, girls scouts, soccer, basketball
Everything in the arts from dance to creative writting are so beneficial for children. Studies have showed that reading music wether for singing or playing any instruments help children in their mathematics. Dance keeps them healthy by exercising, teaches them to be confident in their own body in their own style of dance, helps them learn different cultures through different dances and learning the origins of those dances, helps them meet friends etc etc. All of these help their creativity.
...teaches them to be unique, to be passionate, and that its good to be different because different is what makes you a true artist. Its what makes you you and wether putting it on a canvas on on the stage it will always be a good thing.
I know you do not like to hear that someone who used to be AGAINST these has changed her tune. I really saw something completely opposite from what I was taught about pageants. The camaraderie these girls show with one another is really a sight to behold. They are truly pageant sisters whether you like it or not. Bad for kids ...no way. misunderstood by many who are willing to judge quickly absolutely.
These kids are passionate and unique , they are kids that seem to have built in determination and competitive drive. Good for them that they have found an outlet that suits them for this. This is not right for all kids , and I would NEVER say it was. For the ones that adore this HOBBY /individual sport it is often a perfect fit. Many of these girls go into the ministry or fashion design or other fields in the arts.
How unique can you be when you have to wear makeup (as a child no less) to create an artificial look, all wear tans, fake hair, flippers because little teeth aren't good enough. Follow similar looking routines, dresses looking so similar, like clones in different colors. How can a girl express her individuality like this?
Pageant kids are OFTEN theater kids that like acting and writing , as far as gender roles are concerned , get over it these are kids that enjoy being girls. My daughter loves Harry Potter , she LOVES reading, she does exercise and she works very hard on her routines for presentation. and she is really proud of herself when she does them correctly. You are wrong about pageants as are the professors.
Actually mostly pageant kids are either trying to go into modeling or are comtetition dancers (which there they dress again all the same, same little bikini looking outfit with a bun)
All build up around superficiality.
Reading harry potter is different from actually writting your own little books, on writting poetries, and essays expressing your own opinion.
How would you know what most pageant kids do if you don't know any or have never been to a pageant? Awfully judgmental of you. Yes pageantry is just another form of theater . Yes there are stage lights that are brought in to the hotel ballrooms I do know what stage lights look like. Pageantry is 100% theater. I disagree with you that it is not. Most of these kids ARE theater kids , they act, they sing , and yes some dance and cheer .
Theater is more than just do little routines, theater consist of real acting in different plays, memorizing lines, use body language and your voice to make the lines natural and believable. Theater is to link your facial expressions with the different tones of your voice to convey different emotions and impacts to the audience on what is going on in the opera or musical. Theater is to move the audience, to make that piece your own, to improv, to become that part. Pageantry are none of those.
....just because pageants may have some children act and sing does not make pageantry part of theater. Just like someone who sings in the shower dosent make them a singer, someone who dances in clubs does not make them a dancer etc etc.
I also see dance and Cheer as theater too. It is ALL performance based art. Rather than be so critical why don't you look at the time , energy and work these girls put into this hobby ON THEIR OWN to compete. My daughter has knocked on doors and asked each for a dollar in order to pay entry fees in order to compete. these kids LOVE this and there really is nothing wrong with it , if you don't like it don't participate , It is just rude to complain about someone else's hobby.
If it is all about performance there are ART SCHOOLS and talent shows and competitions to sign up for. No need for pageants. If performing is such a big passion of these children than I am sure they would love being in an art school where they get to do 2 hours of their major every day in school and perform many times year (sometimes once a month). To actually go to school with the kids they are performing with, to actually bond with them for years, and learn to work together as a team.
I don't regularly complain about the radical feminist load of crap that gets pushed on the public by people like you either. I happen to believe in gender roles, I am a stay at home mom, My hubby goes out to work to support the family . I cook and clean and guess what...I AM HAPPY. I teach Sunday School and volunteer with the youth group at my church. Are you going to tell me that I am not happy? I went to college I had a career, I gave it up.
Thats good for you I guess but what is that teaching your kids, just give up and let someone else do the work for you?
Education, whats the point, you can always quit and pop out babies?
You know how many people yearn for education? How many people around the world of all genders don't have the oportunities we have in North America to go and get education and actually work hard afterwords in the job that they love? So many, and you just gave up? Seriously? This is what you're teaching?
I am teaching my daughter that when you have children you put YOUR OWN INTERESTS ASIDE and do whats best for your children. I am teaching her that it can be a fulfilling life to be a mother, in itself being a mother is a career. You insinuate that I do not "work" , I am a mother , that is more work and more rewarding work than I could ever get a paycheck for. Education is important, so are values. I would say values are far more important though.
My mother worked 2 jobs just to support me and my sister by her self after she kicked our dad out. She would work her full time job while we were sleeping and a part time job when we were at school. She would then she would wake up after just sleeping 2 hours to go to pick us up from the bus stop, and cook for us dinner when we got home from school. On her days off she would spend them with us. She sacrificed many things for us, lack of sleep, pain and exhaustion from working long hours...
...she would not buy her self something she needed like maybe some new shoes for work or to even buy something to treat her self just so we could have what we needed or what we wanted once in a blue moon. She did so much for us and me and my sister appreciate it every single day. THAT if putting your own interests aside for your children. THAT is true sacrifice. She could of married any shlow mo and maybe worked an easy full time job but she didnt, because she knew she could do it.
The paycheck is not the reward, the reward is what you do with that paycheck and how hard you worked for it. The reward is knowing your mother worked hours just so she could buy the food you're eating plus cooked the food, knowing she worked hard to clothe you, she just didnt go ask the money from someone to buy the clothes you're wearing, she worked with pain on her feet and joints to to get you that, even if it was from walmart or payless. She worked for the roof over your head.
That is just the type of life I do not wish for my child. She deserves a stable loving and values oriented family home and that is what she has. I am sad that is how you grew up , I had many friends who grew up that way. I did not grow up like you. I grew up in a stable and loving family home with a stay at home mom and a working dad. I went off to college, got all "liberated" , I got tired of getting angry about what everyone else was doing, it git boring
When we started living as just just my sister, my mother and I we lived very peacefully. We learned the value of hard work, the value of perseverance, of sticking together at tough times and working as a team. Learned hmbleness, but also learned to stand up for our selves and be strong. We learned to be very close because we are all we got in life and what is the most importnant thing of all, our small family.
...but ofcourse in your cookie-cutter world you wouldnt understand that nor imagine how anything different out of the norm could be "stable".
Well if we weren't stable me and my sister wouldnt had gone to an art high school, we wouldnt of had been the first to go to college in both our mother's and our father's side. I wouldnt be a 4.0 student who is majored in pre-veterinary medicine and speak 3 languages and my sister wouldnt be a dancer who has many dance companies begging her to join them
no they dont, hair award is about one tenth of the score, they get judged on presentation and routine, that is 90% of the score. Girl scouts are some of the most shallow and cruel kids my daughter has ever come across. She used to come home in tears because they made fun of my daughter so badly, same with sports and group dancing lessons. . They were simply hell for her. You say the arts , pageants ARE theater .
Pageants are theater? Have you EVER done theater or been to a play?
You have to memorize lines and work with your body language, if its a musical you have to memorize the different songs plus dance. Operas same thing only you're thinking on your voice, plus what you're singing, plus make your body language express what the song is saying.
That is NOT the same as remembering to walk to different positions, do a little dance, and show off whatever you are wearing. Pfft, please.
and they are not judged on the tan, the tan actually helps cut down on the stage makeup, as they don't want a bunch of faceless dancers on stage they don't want faceless pageant queens on stage. The tan helps. stand , walk and talk....ok I will give you that one its called grace and poise and there is nothing wrong with that. Especially for a kid with a disability like mine. The clothes...lol they are not at the playground they are at a pageant, appropriate for the situation.
Ah the escuse on the tans and the makeup for little girls. Trying to compare it to actually being on a huge stage with actual stage lights. Tisk tisk. Sorry to break it to you but its not the same sweetheart.
Stage lights are built much bigger and stages have seats much farther and that is the reason for the make up (and the tan but is bull because there are plenty of people with tanned skin naturally or with darker skin and it does nothing to the make up. Depends which shades you use)
"stand , walk and talk....ok I will give you that one its called grace and poise and there is nothing wrong with that."
Theater (no pageants do not count as theater) , dance (ballet and ballroom helps that alot), singing (mainly operas), playing an instrument helps that, no need for pageants.
There are better alternatives out there with better benefits that come out of them.
psychologists aren't ALWAYS right. i know that most girls in pageants love them and think of them as something they did fun. it also helps a child pave the road to success and help them form strong bounds with other children. say a random psychologist says "football is horrible for children. it encourages violence and tough behaver. it also teaches a child that a male has to be strong and superior and gives them a false sense of the average human body" but you knew thats not true same with this
Exactly, that is ONE psychologist. That one you can doubt since its coming from only one person that is not a specific kind of psychologist. But I'm talking about multiple CHILD psychologist whom all agree that child beauty pageants are unhealthy for children. Are they all wrong or all know each other and agreed to say it to just saying to fuck with people? No, they had to take many years of education and expirience to end up with their conclusions.
yes, but me saying that about football sound really stupid, doesnt it? becuz everyone knows that football is nothing like that, but someone not familliar with football could very well think that. thats is the same with pageants, anyone in pageants knows that is stupid, unless the child is forced, which is not very often. or the childs parents teach them wrong, which is not often as well.
"yes, but me saying that about football sound really stupid, doesnt it? becuz everyone knows that football is nothing like that" Yeah, and as you said that was ONE count them ONE psychologist of no real specific field in psychology who said that. I am talking about multiple psychologist from all over the world who have all ended up with an agreeing conclusion from their research and expirience individually without knowing each other.
no phychologist said that about football, but what if a bunch said that? what if we know it want true but it was coming from a bunch of child phychologists? what if we all know it was stupid? its the same in pageants. i know that is not true and you can say whatever you want but for the most part i know it isn't. so you can think and say whatever you want
Then I would read up on how they reached their conclusions, their expiriences with children, and researches they have done to end up with this conclusion. They all don't know each other so its interesting to know how they ended with this conclusion. I mean they all can't be wrong. Its not like this is a school group project and all handed in the same paper.
whatever... that phychologist who said that about pageants was stupid because its not true and enless they observed every single child throughout their entire life, then they cant say it. i'm not saying pageants are right for everyone and every one in them loves them, but most people do and it is fun for most people. and most people live to be sucessful
It was more than one CHILD psychologist who don't recomend child beauty pageants for children and think they are mentally damaging. And tell me how can they be stupid? Do you know how many years they had to get of education to get their jobs as psychologist? Are you really serious saying they are stupid? Then you need alot of growing up to do little girl.
i know i need to grow up. so do you. so does everyone. i believe their is never a stage in your life where you are done "growing up". but i do not believe i am wrong for disagreeing, maybe i could have been more mature about my comment but disagreeing with someone doesnt make you childish. because if so that makes you a child as well. and anyone could be a CHILD psychologist. say you went to school to become one. you could say pageants are bad because you just dont like them.
I never called you a child for disagreeing with me, I called you a child for the way you argue. Its like talking to a 4 years old. "They are stupid because they dont agree with me" is stupid in it self ironically. Many people need to grow up but you honey need the most to do. I suggest you start from now.
fine, i said i know i can be childish, but thats alright i;m only 13, we are supposed to be childish. and i am not talking like a 4 year old... i never said "They are stupid because they dont agree with me". i said i think their opinion was stupid because it made no sense to a a teenager actually involved in pageants
this is sick. mothers who put pounds and pound of makeup on their daughters and make them go in beauty pagons just because their own dreams didnt come true. what if they wana play basket ball but their moms just want to win to say "LOOK AT THIS!!!!! im so better then you because my daughter just won a pagon!!!!" i mean really what ever. it wasnt you so you shouldnt be the one to be admired for it just cus your daughter is wearing a 100 pounds of makeup to hide their face
im pretty sure nobody has ever said "LOOK AT THIS!!!!! im so better then you because my daughter just won a pagon!!!!" i dont even know that a pagon is.
i think that pageants could be turned into a positive, kindve cotilion preparation if they were a bit more moral. if the emphasis was on poise and modesty rather than huge hair and cake faced 5 year olds it could help girls grow into mature self confident women.
Ofcourse she's not gonna see nothing wrong with them, shes been doing it for some time at such a young age. She sees that as normal. Thats like going to a compound where polygamist people live and ask girls if they see anything wrong with "the principle" most will say no because they are used to it. And btw, some DO glue hair extentions on girls. Maybe YOU should get your facts straight, and use correct grammar before talking. I dont wanna be the grammar police here but its being an eyesore
yes but most of them clip in. you are the one with the twisted facts. even if she didnt see anything wrong with them, that wouldent make her WANT to do them. pageants are wonderful.
Just because a girl wants to do them dosent mean they are right for them. They teach alot of unvaluable things which the only valuable things they do teach you can learn through other activities which are more beneficial.
thats true about drugs and being a hooker, but pageants are totally fine. they can earn you scholarships, and they teach TONS of things such as the importance of volunteering, self confidence, public speaking and so much more. what other activities do you know of that can cover all those bases? plus pretty much the only downside to pageants that i find is that they can be expensive, but if you do enough of them and get your full use out of your outfits and other purchased items, it will even out
um yeah but when you look at this is so fucking fucked up how these children look like miniature versions of 20-25 year old women, its creepy and disturbing that people do this i can't imagine that small girls being forcefully demanded to look perfect is far from good for they're mental health
"importance of volunteering, self confidence, public speaking and so much more." Child beauty pageants dont teach those honey, just adult pageants. and yes, I do know many other activities that teach that, like girl scouts (depents which district ofcourse), some religious youth groups teach these, sisterhood youth groups teach these, ect ect.
child beauty pageants do teach those. i would know. you obviously havent been involved with them, so you woulden't. get your facts straight. girl scouts varies so much its rare that you find a good troop. im in a christian youth group, and they focus on what theyre suppossed to which is the Bible. (or whatever it is per the religion) plus it is so much fun to get dressed up and go onstage and present yourself to an audience and judges. you wouldent know unless youve tried it.
Get my facts straight? The only thing there that child beauty pageants teach are "self confience" (seriously doubt it) and public speaking (if you're answering questions for the personality round.)Volunteering? Havent heard of 1 single child beauty pageant that does that. Self confidence and public speaking can be done in various other activities that are more beneficial. Such as sports, arts, girl scouts youth religious groups(the ones I went to when I was a catholic did volunteer)
You must live in one crappy place if all your girl scouts are rare to find a good group or a religious youth group that only do bible studies. The one I went to when I was a catholic we would go to fieldtrips and volunteer at the shelters, we would just hangout and talk about normal everyday stuff.
The arts they teach all of these things and so much more. I went to an art school for 4 years and it was really cool. We would perform with the city orchestra but also would perform to veterans and in nursing homes once in a while cause they liked it. Teachers encouraged us to take lead parts all the time if they knew we had the talent, to go to contests, to express our selves. To try to be unique. To just place our whole hearts and beings on stage and just show who we really are.
and how would you know this? ive done pageants, and you are making up a biased opinion and have never had the first hand experiance with them!!! well in the ones ive done they have a lot of points in volunteering. i even got a 500 dollar scholarship for my community service alone. you would have to do many of those combined to get what you get out of pageants.
it says im 51 because when i made the account i was on my father's computer which automatically puts in his info (email, age, address etc.) and i forgot to change it. im now 14, a girl and do qualify for them.
Looking a comment on your page you made comments earlier suggesting you havent ever gone to a pageant. So I'm seriously doubting you "gone to child beauty pageants and given scholarships for volunteering" You credability is a little sketchy sweetheart.
A toddler dosent really know what they want. Putting make up on them, flippers, tanning them, and putting hair extentions on their hair with glue (which can hurt their hair) is not right for a kid age 10 and down. Beauty Pageants shouldnt ever be a choice for a child. Im ok with them for teens and adults since they can choose to do what ever they please but not children. You may see nothing wrong with them because you're used to them and i bet they're very common where you live but they arent ok
No matter how much editing they do with the documentaries and the shows (like the one on tlc) it still dosent change how wrong these pageants look. Little girls shouldnt be wearing makeup, hair extentions, tanning, strutting a bikini on stage for adults to judge on how they look in them, wearing flippers because their little teeth arent good enough, some even dye their hair! At age 5! These girls should be doing activities that will benefit them and are fun like dancing or girl scouts.
pageants are beneficial. i danced and didnt get anything out of it, and i was a goirl scout for 6 years and got some crapy plastic prizes for selling cookies. recently ive gotten into cheerleading and pageants, and both have helped me a ton.
You didnt get anything out of dancing? Um how long were you dancing for and what style?
Girlscouts teach you many valuable life skills, how is that not beneficial? And about getting plastic prizes, well in pageants you get a plastic tiara so....not really a step up there lol.
But Im glad cheerleading is something that you have gotten into, its a very hard sport.
Girl scouts sucks! all i ever did was eat cookies and make crafts 4 old people untill they had us sing a dumd song and go home. then we spent hours at the mall selling cookies, casue our leader's daughter didn't sell enough and we had to make up 4 her...worste 3 yrs of my life...
Then that must had been just your district cause here they do more then that. They go camping, yes they volunteer also, go to picnics, do alot of fun stuff.
First of all, commas are your best friends. Use them more often please. Secondly, I have only shown what I see. The images are right there plain as day. I have not toyed with them. Third, Im not the only one who has negative thoughts on CHILD beauty pageants, child psychologist also dont recomend them. I'm just another person on the outside looking in, and what I see isnt very pretty
How old are you sweetheart? 12? You write like you are. Using text lingo. Honey, baby, you're not using the phone at the moment. You have a key board there so I suggest you use it correctly. Until you actually write "you"'s and "for"'s correctly, anything you write will be ignored. Thank You! :) ♥
Um... rude much?!!?i have some simple steps for you 1. think about the pageant girls like me reading this 2. think how you would feel if some1 said that about your parents 3. think about how aweful we now think you are 4. apolize to all the parents! that si a horrible thing to say!
You're the one that's delusional. How can a mother take away the childhood from her own child, making it participate in such a terrible contest. I can't even cope with idea that a little girl could be dressed up like that. Children should BE children, and not made to look like sluts so their mothers could fill the hole inside their head in which brain used to occupy.
I really think it is sad. Parade your child around like that when you should be focusing on their schooling and not how they look. They are still babies and need to have a childhood. Don't treat them like adults yet. That is just sick and wrong. Look at what happened to Jon Benet. She is dead now. Think about it .
So right here you're admitting to being overweight, a homophobe, the type of person who would call a man a "bitch," as well as an illiterate dunce. "Should of had aborted"?
Is that what the school teaches you these days? Not "Should have aborted"?
First of all you do look like a scrawny little bitch or do you not see your self in the mirror? Nah too depressed to look at your face, have nothing to do with your life but to go around videos and calling them "overweight" without even seeing them (which Im not lol) . Second of all I'm not a homophobe. The word "fag" has many different defenitions but you wouldn't know that, you have a vocabulary of less then 100 words with just one meaning to them.
But anyways, your "illiterate dunce" insult fails. I'm writting to you right now in my second language, spanish is my first, and french my third and I can understand and read italian and portuguese. So if I spell something wrong in english or saying in a different way then I dont really give a fuck because this is only my second language. How many do you know? One only? and don't even know the different meanings of words, tisk tisk tisk. Try again bitch, try again. You are an epic fail.
so does some opions of you people about me, pageants, little girls, and my parents! so i have a lot more things to want to cry about because, people attack me and my family personally!
If we could put as much energy into developing kindness, understanding, compassion, knowledge, wisdom and joy as we put into developing competitiveness and beauty, this would be a far better world.
ohh men im just think thats wrong i dont know what kind of people make this only for fame and fortune im from venezuela and this is its not ok can u imagine the stress for those little girls, crazy mothers just want some cash dont qualify this actions please open ur eyes
That is not buety. Its just children with a ton of make up on. The kids are wearing spray tans, lip stick, eye shadow, eye liner, and even mascara! Let the girls real buety show! This is not them! So don't make them be who you want them to be. Yes, it builds confidence but don't make them do it if they don't want to. If a pageant was for fun the judges would base you on other things like intelligence. Just remember, if you enter your child in a contest, don't powder on the make up.
It's not enough that the media will destroy their self image later, but now the parents of these children has started them on the road to self destruction even earlier. Bravo for such great parenting. :)
This is fun for little girls and shame to all the perverts who look at these little girls.
this allows little girls to have self confidence. Going to the pool and being on stage are the same thing. This is not sexualizing little girls. These little girls do this for fun! It's like playing dress up for them. Positive outcomes for these children is to be more social and be more open to people.
The matter is not about what little girls feel, but what parents and adult people feel watching them. I think it's weird, this can happen at home, between friends, family, even school, but not for tv, for the freaky people around the world, not all people is inocent like kids x_x...
I could understand the point if these pagents demanded some level of skill or talent on the child's behalf, but they don't. In fact, when you get to the talent part of the competition 80% of these tone deaf little girls screech at the top of their lungs to some bad broadway tune and the other 20% dance like the hookers that their mothers used to be. That's the saddest thing about these "beauty" pagents
what happened to jon benet had nothing to do with her doing beauty pageants the media just decided to blaim it on that. . .if she didnt do beauty pageants it would have never made headline news. . .beauty pageants didnt kill jon benet a sick person did.
Man,these kids go though some hard stuff with these pagenants, and for what?So that thier parents get fame and fortune off thier kids?Sad to see what these kids are dragged though the mud,sort-of-speak,with this stuff. Why are these pagegents still going? The kids need to conentrate on getting an education more than anything.
Yet you support the miami heat, they are still exploitations of female sexuality, only on these girls they start from a youger age. But dont worry they will reach to becoming a dancing slut one day, just like you like em :)
I got frustrated because mathcomat got into the conversation without knowing what it was about. Its a conversation totally different from another video from a long time ago. You talk with out knowing. Thats kind of sick
Ok now, I'm watching this on VH1 for the first time and this is some disturbing stuff. Like shouldn't there be laws against this. Parading little girls around in BATHING SUITS. I mean there has to be some research displaying the damage that is being done to little girls that go through this. Why must there be so many messed up parents in the world?
These beauty pageants are a pedophilias dream come true! how could a parent who claims to care about their child enter them in something as crule and dangerous as this? these children desereve to be living normal lives, these kids are only 4!!! seriously! how could anyone think that putting a whole lot of hair spray and mak up on a child normal!!! not to mention the big malibu barbie hair styles! they all look like they have just been to a plastic surgeon! parents give your kids a break!!
Why would you say that these children are not beautiful? I agree with you on the first and last part of your statement but to say that these children are not beautiful is an asshole remark.
i know thats the only thing i don't like about them and sometimes the close but most of the time i like them so for once we agree but i don't mean that in a bad way k.
Hey alot of little boys wanna play with bb guns. Should you let them? But they want to so badly.Pfft Just cause a kid wants to do something dosent always mean its gonna be good for them.
I think that little girls can compete if they want to! These little girls wanted to compete! You think its because their mom pushed them. You heard Joanna on the documentary. She said she never wanted to quit. And Aleena enjoys it. Kynnedy likes it. Jordan likes to have fun with it too. So why say its the parents fault? Yes, I believe they are a little mean to the girls sometimes, except for Jordans mom and Kynnedys mom. But guess what? The kids still want to do it.
omygawsh these little girls dont even look real!! they loo klike dolls! they r very beautiful(even natural) but i think its cute to have them look liek this to just for a pageant. wen i have a lil girl like this sumday i want her to be like this that is only if she wants to i mean id never push my kid to do sumthing. this is a good show but the mothers r such bitches!!! its horrible they only care bout them selves and make there kids do these things. its reeeeeally sad.
why dont you people understand that pageants are the SAME as dance
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
@jayjaygirl24698 Im sorry since when is is pageantry an art and a sport combined?
lostchild06 2 years ago
since pageants started. i did dance. my friend danced and we both agree pageants are just like dance. in both girls of all ages pile on makeup, wear flashy clothing, fake hair, and get on a stage to dance doing what you people call "suggestive" moves (which really aren't) both dance and when they get off the stage are sweating and out of breathe if they did it right. its the same thing
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
Dance is more than just the outter clothing, dance is an art that shows expression and a story. Shows human emotion in a moving canvas. Its also a sport that takes many years to perfect. Makeup and clothes are not even part of the equation. It only makes up 0.00001% of what dance is.
Please check your self before comparing again.
lostchild06 2 years ago
haha you havent been to a little girl's dance recital. i'm not talking broadway type dancing. i'm talking little girls in flashy outfits with tons of makeup and fake hair, dancing to wierd songs.
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
You mean competition dancers? Thats not real dancing honey. I know exactly what you're talking about. They dance for the flesh and not the soul, dancing for the soul is what real dancers do. Being little girls is not an escuse; its the type of activity you put them in. I know many little girls into gymnastics and dance who dance just as good as many adults. They dance ballet, modern, jazz., hip hop and african. And again, the clothing and makeup is not important. Their techniques are.
lostchild06 2 years ago
i know but they do wear it. in pageants there techniques are one of the most important things as well. i have seen little girls with beauiful expensive hair and makeup and outfits, who lost to a other girls with nice outfits and hair as well, but not as nice as the other persons because their routine is better and they look a lot happier
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
No, thats not real technique and you have to admit that their clothing, hair, and makeup make up atleeast more than 50% of how they are judged which is different from dance where their technique counts as about 96%

You can't say pageants are horrible things if you havn't been in them yourself! Everything you learned about pageants is news from the media!
CassieKatEAustonEvan 2 years ago
Thats like saying I can't tell segregation was bad if I never expirienced it my self. You don't have to expirience something in order to know its bad.
lostchild06 2 years ago
Those aren't even comparable
CassieKatEAustonEvan 2 years ago
Wow, you're late. And yes they are. It mean just because you havent expirienced something personally dosent mean you can't see what is wrong with them. Sometimes see and feel are in the same category.
lostchild06 2 years ago
Well I'm sorry but they aren't in the same category so sorry to dissapoint :( but you "people" I swear are like the poparazzi for these kids a few photos that they are not smiling and you automatically think it's wrong, well guess what hun you haven't seen behind the scenes so go ahead keep talking about how you have not experienced any of it and you get all of your info from media sources, oh yes and sorry I'm late
CassieKatEAustonEvan 2 years ago
Actually sweetheart, the information I got to know that these child beauty pageants arent good were from child psychologists. Dr. William Pinsof, a clinical psychologist and president of the Family Institute at Northwestern University said, " Being a little Barbie doll says your body has to be a certain way and your hair has to be a certain way. In girls particularly,
lostchild06 2 years ago
this can unleash a whole complex of destructive self-experiences that can lead to eating disorders and all kinds of body distortions in terms of body image
lostchild06 2 years ago
Marcia Summers, an educational psychology professor says
Such contests may give children the perception that being pretty is the only option for popularity and success...Women are judged by their physical attributes and little girls easily pick this up ....When some children win a pageant at that age, they could be thinking they are pretty and better than others.
lostchild06 2 years ago
So are they "poparazzi for these kids" also? these are professionals speaking. So if you have a problem go take it out with them. I take their opinions more seriously than I do yours. Being judge by your outside isnt normal nor healthy for children. I feel sorry that you don't see whats wrong with it. *shakes head* Poor you.
lostchild06 2 years ago
good lord lostchild , has this psychologist you speak of ever been to a beauty pageant? I protested these things when I was in college on the info I got from my professors , well guess what , they were WRONG, and so are you.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
How are they wrong? How is your professor wrong? You say what but not the how. Come back to me when you actually can explain your self with evidence. Until then, you have nothing but baseless opinions.
lostchild06 2 years ago
I have been to several of these , my daughter has been in several of these and they have been a great benefit to her , she has high functioning autism and I can assure you these girls are not shallow or mean in any way , and my daughter has found better friends from pageants than anywhere else, yes my professors were wrong, and ill informed from personal experience I can assure you that her body type or disability has never been looked down upon
hogwartspta 2 years ago
My daughter is a little bit overweight and no one has ever put any pressure on her to change her size due to her involvement in pageants , and yes she does win and she overalls , its about presentation and routine , beauty pageant is really a bit of a misnomer for a name , they really should be called performance showcases because that is what gets judged, as far as the glitz goes it is the great equalizer , when all the girls look pretty much alike , they really cant be judged on beauty
hogwartspta 2 years ago
But they get judged on materialistic and superficial notions. The hairs, the make ups, the tans, the clothes, the way they are teached to stand, walk, and talk. It gives false education on the female gender and our roles from very young. What makes us win, what brings us to the top. Those are the imbeded messages these pageants are teaching little girls. There are soo many alternatives out there with more benefits. Dancing, singing, playing instruments, the arts, girls scouts, soccer, basketball
lostchild06 2 years ago
Everything in the arts from dance to creative writting are so beneficial for children. Studies have showed that reading music wether for singing or playing any instruments help children in their mathematics. Dance keeps them healthy by exercising, teaches them to be confident in their own body in their own style of dance, helps them learn different cultures through different dances and learning the origins of those dances, helps them meet friends etc etc. All of these help their creativity.
lostchild06 2 years ago
...teaches them to be unique, to be passionate, and that its good to be different because different is what makes you a true artist. Its what makes you you and wether putting it on a canvas on on the stage it will always be a good thing.
lostchild06 2 years ago
I know you do not like to hear that someone who used to be AGAINST these has changed her tune. I really saw something completely opposite from what I was taught about pageants. The camaraderie these girls show with one another is really a sight to behold. They are truly pageant sisters whether you like it or not. Bad for kids ...no way. misunderstood by many who are willing to judge quickly absolutely.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
"I know you do not like to hear that someone who used to be AGAINST these has changed her tune. "
Who said, I dont? I said There are better alternatives out there which there are.
lostchild06 2 years ago
These kids are passionate and unique , they are kids that seem to have built in determination and competitive drive. Good for them that they have found an outlet that suits them for this. This is not right for all kids , and I would NEVER say it was. For the ones that adore this HOBBY /individual sport it is often a perfect fit. Many of these girls go into the ministry or fashion design or other fields in the arts.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
How unique can you be when you have to wear makeup (as a child no less) to create an artificial look, all wear tans, fake hair, flippers because little teeth aren't good enough. Follow similar looking routines, dresses looking so similar, like clones in different colors. How can a girl express her individuality like this?
lostchild06 2 years ago
Pageant kids are OFTEN theater kids that like acting and writing , as far as gender roles are concerned , get over it these are kids that enjoy being girls. My daughter loves Harry Potter , she LOVES reading, she does exercise and she works very hard on her routines for presentation. and she is really proud of herself when she does them correctly. You are wrong about pageants as are the professors.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
Actually mostly pageant kids are either trying to go into modeling or are comtetition dancers (which there they dress again all the same, same little bikini looking outfit with a bun)
All build up around superficiality.
Reading harry potter is different from actually writting your own little books, on writting poetries, and essays expressing your own opinion.
lostchild06 2 years ago
How would you know what most pageant kids do if you don't know any or have never been to a pageant? Awfully judgmental of you. Yes pageantry is just another form of theater . Yes there are stage lights that are brought in to the hotel ballrooms I do know what stage lights look like. Pageantry is 100% theater. I disagree with you that it is not. Most of these kids ARE theater kids , they act, they sing , and yes some dance and cheer .
hogwartspta 2 years ago
Theater is more than just do little routines, theater consist of real acting in different plays, memorizing lines, use body language and your voice to make the lines natural and believable. Theater is to link your facial expressions with the different tones of your voice to convey different emotions and impacts to the audience on what is going on in the opera or musical. Theater is to move the audience, to make that piece your own, to improv, to become that part. Pageantry are none of those.
lostchild06 2 years ago
....just because pageants may have some children act and sing does not make pageantry part of theater. Just like someone who sings in the shower dosent make them a singer, someone who dances in clubs does not make them a dancer etc etc.
lostchild06 2 years ago
I also see dance and Cheer as theater too. It is ALL performance based art. Rather than be so critical why don't you look at the time , energy and work these girls put into this hobby ON THEIR OWN to compete. My daughter has knocked on doors and asked each for a dollar in order to pay entry fees in order to compete. these kids LOVE this and there really is nothing wrong with it , if you don't like it don't participate , It is just rude to complain about someone else's hobby.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
If it is all about performance there are ART SCHOOLS and talent shows and competitions to sign up for. No need for pageants. If performing is such a big passion of these children than I am sure they would love being in an art school where they get to do 2 hours of their major every day in school and perform many times year (sometimes once a month). To actually go to school with the kids they are performing with, to actually bond with them for years, and learn to work together as a team.
lostchild06 2 years ago
I don't regularly complain about the radical feminist load of crap that gets pushed on the public by people like you either. I happen to believe in gender roles, I am a stay at home mom, My hubby goes out to work to support the family . I cook and clean and guess what...I AM HAPPY. I teach Sunday School and volunteer with the youth group at my church. Are you going to tell me that I am not happy? I went to college I had a career, I gave it up.
This way is better.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
Thats good for you I guess but what is that teaching your kids, just give up and let someone else do the work for you?
Education, whats the point, you can always quit and pop out babies?
You know how many people yearn for education? How many people around the world of all genders don't have the oportunities we have in North America to go and get education and actually work hard afterwords in the job that they love? So many, and you just gave up? Seriously? This is what you're teaching?
lostchild06 2 years ago
I am teaching my daughter that when you have children you put YOUR OWN INTERESTS ASIDE and do whats best for your children. I am teaching her that it can be a fulfilling life to be a mother, in itself being a mother is a career. You insinuate that I do not "work" , I am a mother , that is more work and more rewarding work than I could ever get a paycheck for. Education is important, so are values. I would say values are far more important though.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
My mother worked 2 jobs just to support me and my sister by her self after she kicked our dad out. She would work her full time job while we were sleeping and a part time job when we were at school. She would then she would wake up after just sleeping 2 hours to go to pick us up from the bus stop, and cook for us dinner when we got home from school. On her days off she would spend them with us. She sacrificed many things for us, lack of sleep, pain and exhaustion from working long hours...
lostchild06 2 years ago
...she would not buy her self something she needed like maybe some new shoes for work or to even buy something to treat her self just so we could have what we needed or what we wanted once in a blue moon. She did so much for us and me and my sister appreciate it every single day. THAT if putting your own interests aside for your children. THAT is true sacrifice. She could of married any shlow mo and maybe worked an easy full time job but she didnt, because she knew she could do it.
lostchild06 2 years ago
The paycheck is not the reward, the reward is what you do with that paycheck and how hard you worked for it. The reward is knowing your mother worked hours just so she could buy the food you're eating plus cooked the food, knowing she worked hard to clothe you, she just didnt go ask the money from someone to buy the clothes you're wearing, she worked with pain on her feet and joints to to get you that, even if it was from walmart or payless. She worked for the roof over your head.
lostchild06 2 years ago
That is just the type of life I do not wish for my child. She deserves a stable loving and values oriented family home and that is what she has. I am sad that is how you grew up , I had many friends who grew up that way. I did not grow up like you. I grew up in a stable and loving family home with a stay at home mom and a working dad. I went off to college, got all "liberated" , I got tired of getting angry about what everyone else was doing, it git boring
hogwartspta 2 years ago
My family was stable, thank you very much.
When we started living as just just my sister, my mother and I we lived very peacefully. We learned the value of hard work, the value of perseverance, of sticking together at tough times and working as a team. Learned hmbleness, but also learned to stand up for our selves and be strong. We learned to be very close because we are all we got in life and what is the most importnant thing of all, our small family.
lostchild06 2 years ago
...but ofcourse in your cookie-cutter world you wouldnt understand that nor imagine how anything different out of the norm could be "stable".
Well if we weren't stable me and my sister wouldnt had gone to an art high school, we wouldnt of had been the first to go to college in both our mother's and our father's side. I wouldnt be a 4.0 student who is majored in pre-veterinary medicine and speak 3 languages and my sister wouldnt be a dancer who has many dance companies begging her to join them
lostchild06 2 years ago
no they dont, hair award is about one tenth of the score, they get judged on presentation and routine, that is 90% of the score. Girl scouts are some of the most shallow and cruel kids my daughter has ever come across. She used to come home in tears because they made fun of my daughter so badly, same with sports and group dancing lessons. . They were simply hell for her. You say the arts , pageants ARE theater .
hogwartspta 2 years ago
Pageants are theater? Have you EVER done theater or been to a play?
You have to memorize lines and work with your body language, if its a musical you have to memorize the different songs plus dance. Operas same thing only you're thinking on your voice, plus what you're singing, plus make your body language express what the song is saying.
That is NOT the same as remembering to walk to different positions, do a little dance, and show off whatever you are wearing. Pfft, please.
lostchild06 2 years ago
I majored in theater , I know what theater is
hogwartspta 2 years ago
@hogwartspta Then you would know perfectly well that is not a thing like anything involving the theater.
lostchild06 2 years ago
and they are not judged on the tan, the tan actually helps cut down on the stage makeup, as they don't want a bunch of faceless dancers on stage they don't want faceless pageant queens on stage. The tan helps. stand , walk and talk....ok I will give you that one its called grace and poise and there is nothing wrong with that. Especially for a kid with a disability like mine. The clothes...lol they are not at the playground they are at a pageant, appropriate for the situation.
hogwartspta 2 years ago
Ah the escuse on the tans and the makeup for little girls. Trying to compare it to actually being on a huge stage with actual stage lights. Tisk tisk. Sorry to break it to you but its not the same sweetheart.
Stage lights are built much bigger and stages have seats much farther and that is the reason for the make up (and the tan but is bull because there are plenty of people with tanned skin naturally or with darker skin and it does nothing to the make up. Depends which shades you use)
lostchild06 2 years ago
"stand , walk and talk....ok I will give you that one its called grace and poise and there is nothing wrong with that."
Theater (no pageants do not count as theater) , dance (ballet and ballroom helps that alot), singing (mainly operas), playing an instrument helps that, no need for pageants.
There are better alternatives out there with better benefits that come out of them.
lostchild06 2 years ago
psychologists aren't ALWAYS right. i know that most girls in pageants love them and think of them as something they did fun. it also helps a child pave the road to success and help them form strong bounds with other children. say a random psychologist says "football is horrible for children. it encourages violence and tough behaver. it also teaches a child that a male has to be strong and superior and gives them a false sense of the average human body" but you knew thats not true same with this
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
"a random psychologist"
Exactly, that is ONE psychologist. That one you can doubt since its coming from only one person that is not a specific kind of psychologist. But I'm talking about multiple CHILD psychologist whom all agree that child beauty pageants are unhealthy for children. Are they all wrong or all know each other and agreed to say it to just saying to fuck with people? No, they had to take many years of education and expirience to end up with their conclusions.
lostchild06 2 years ago
yes, but me saying that about football sound really stupid, doesnt it? becuz everyone knows that football is nothing like that, but someone not familliar with football could very well think that. thats is the same with pageants, anyone in pageants knows that is stupid, unless the child is forced, which is not very often. or the childs parents teach them wrong, which is not often as well.
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
"yes, but me saying that about football sound really stupid, doesnt it? becuz everyone knows that football is nothing like that" Yeah, and as you said that was ONE count them ONE psychologist of no real specific field in psychology who said that. I am talking about multiple psychologist from all over the world who have all ended up with an agreeing conclusion from their research and expirience individually without knowing each other.
lostchild06 2 years ago
no phychologist said that about football, but what if a bunch said that? what if we know it want true but it was coming from a bunch of child phychologists? what if we all know it was stupid? its the same in pageants. i know that is not true and you can say whatever you want but for the most part i know it isn't. so you can think and say whatever you want
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
"no phychologist said that about football,"
No shit sherlock.
"but what if a bunch said that?"
Then I would read up on how they reached their conclusions, their expiriences with children, and researches they have done to end up with this conclusion. They all don't know each other so its interesting to know how they ended with this conclusion. I mean they all can't be wrong. Its not like this is a school group project and all handed in the same paper.
lostchild06 2 years ago
whatever... that phychologist who said that about pageants was stupid because its not true and enless they observed every single child throughout their entire life, then they cant say it. i'm not saying pageants are right for everyone and every one in them loves them, but most people do and it is fun for most people. and most people live to be sucessful
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
It was more than one CHILD psychologist who don't recomend child beauty pageants for children and think they are mentally damaging. And tell me how can they be stupid? Do you know how many years they had to get of education to get their jobs as psychologist? Are you really serious saying they are stupid? Then you need alot of growing up to do little girl.
lostchild06 2 years ago
i know i need to grow up. so do you. so does everyone. i believe their is never a stage in your life where you are done "growing up". but i do not believe i am wrong for disagreeing, maybe i could have been more mature about my comment but disagreeing with someone doesnt make you childish. because if so that makes you a child as well. and anyone could be a CHILD psychologist. say you went to school to become one. you could say pageants are bad because you just dont like them.
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
I never called you a child for disagreeing with me, I called you a child for the way you argue. Its like talking to a 4 years old. "They are stupid because they dont agree with me" is stupid in it self ironically. Many people need to grow up but you honey need the most to do. I suggest you start from now.
lostchild06 2 years ago
fine, i said i know i can be childish, but thats alright i;m only 13, we are supposed to be childish. and i am not talking like a 4 year old... i never said "They are stupid because they dont agree with me". i said i think their opinion was stupid because it made no sense to a a teenager actually involved in pageants
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
Well sweetheart, Im sorry but it shows that you're on 13 years old.

and the kids still do other things! they don't lock us up in closets untill pageant day or anything...

i think that pageants could be turned into a positive, kindve cotilion preparation if they were a bit more moral. if the emphasis was on poise and modesty rather than huge hair and cake faced 5 year olds it could help girls grow into mature self confident women.

I dont wanna be the grammar police here but its being an eyesore
lostchild06 2 years ago
yes but most of them clip in. you are the one with the twisted facts. even if she didnt see anything wrong with them, that wouldent make her WANT to do them. pageants are wonderful.
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
Just because a girl wants to do them dosent mean they are right for them. They teach alot of unvaluable things which the only valuable things they do teach you can learn through other activities which are more beneficial.
lostchild06 2 years ago
thats true about drugs and being a hooker, but pageants are totally fine. they can earn you scholarships, and they teach TONS of things such as the importance of volunteering, self confidence, public speaking and so much more. what other activities do you know of that can cover all those bases? plus pretty much the only downside to pageants that i find is that they can be expensive, but if you do enough of them and get your full use out of your outfits and other purchased items, it will even out
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
um yeah but when you look at this is so fucking fucked up how these children look like miniature versions of 20-25 year old women, its creepy and disturbing that people do this i can't imagine that small girls being forcefully demanded to look perfect is far from good for they're mental health
mustardtiger123 2 years ago
"importance of volunteering, self confidence, public speaking and so much more." Child beauty pageants dont teach those honey, just adult pageants. and yes, I do know many other activities that teach that, like girl scouts (depents which district ofcourse), some religious youth groups teach these, sisterhood youth groups teach these, ect ect.
lostchild06 2 years ago
child beauty pageants do teach those. i would know. you obviously havent been involved with them, so you woulden't. get your facts straight. girl scouts varies so much its rare that you find a good troop. im in a christian youth group, and they focus on what theyre suppossed to which is the Bible. (or whatever it is per the religion) plus it is so much fun to get dressed up and go onstage and present yourself to an audience and judges. you wouldent know unless youve tried it.
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
Get my facts straight? The only thing there that child beauty pageants teach are "self confience" (seriously doubt it) and public speaking (if you're answering questions for the personality round.)Volunteering? Havent heard of 1 single child beauty pageant that does that. Self confidence and public speaking can be done in various other activities that are more beneficial. Such as sports, arts, girl scouts youth religious groups(the ones I went to when I was a catholic did volunteer)
lostchild06 2 years ago
You must live in one crappy place if all your girl scouts are rare to find a good group or a religious youth group that only do bible studies. The one I went to when I was a catholic we would go to fieldtrips and volunteer at the shelters, we would just hangout and talk about normal everyday stuff.
lostchild06 2 years ago
The arts they teach all of these things and so much more. I went to an art school for 4 years and it was really cool. We would perform with the city orchestra but also would perform to veterans and in nursing homes once in a while cause they liked it. Teachers encouraged us to take lead parts all the time if they knew we had the talent, to go to contests, to express our selves. To try to be unique. To just place our whole hearts and beings on stage and just show who we really are.
lostchild06 2 years ago
i do live in a crappy place:(
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
and how would you know this? ive done pageants, and you are making up a biased opinion and have never had the first hand experiance with them!!! well in the ones ive done they have a lot of points in volunteering. i even got a 500 dollar scholarship for my community service alone. you would have to do many of those combined to get what you get out of pageants.
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
It says you're 51, so how do you get scholarships for the child beauty pageants if you dont even qualify for them? Mysterious...
lostchild06 2 years ago
it says im 51 because when i made the account i was on my father's computer which automatically puts in his info (email, age, address etc.) and i forgot to change it. im now 14, a girl and do qualify for them.
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
Looking a comment on your page you made comments earlier suggesting you havent ever gone to a pageant. So I'm seriously doubting you "gone to child beauty pageants and given scholarships for volunteering" You credability is a little sketchy sweetheart.
lostchild06 2 years ago
A toddler dosent really know what they want. Putting make up on them, flippers, tanning them, and putting hair extentions on their hair with glue (which can hurt their hair) is not right for a kid age 10 and down. Beauty Pageants shouldnt ever be a choice for a child. Im ok with them for teens and adults since they can choose to do what ever they please but not children. You may see nothing wrong with them because you're used to them and i bet they're very common where you live but they arent ok
lostchild06 2 years ago
they are okay. toddlers do know what they want. beauty pageants are wonderful choices for childern. you have mental issues.
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
No matter how much editing they do with the documentaries and the shows (like the one on tlc) it still dosent change how wrong these pageants look. Little girls shouldnt be wearing makeup, hair extentions, tanning, strutting a bikini on stage for adults to judge on how they look in them, wearing flippers because their little teeth arent good enough, some even dye their hair! At age 5! These girls should be doing activities that will benefit them and are fun like dancing or girl scouts.
lostchild06 2 years ago
pageants are beneficial. i danced and didnt get anything out of it, and i was a goirl scout for 6 years and got some crapy plastic prizes for selling cookies. recently ive gotten into cheerleading and pageants, and both have helped me a ton.
wendyisafarmer 2 years ago
You didnt get anything out of dancing? Um how long were you dancing for and what style?
Girlscouts teach you many valuable life skills, how is that not beneficial? And about getting plastic prizes, well in pageants you get a plastic tiara so....not really a step up there lol.
But Im glad cheerleading is something that you have gotten into, its a very hard sport.
lostchild06 2 years ago
Girl scouts sucks! all i ever did was eat cookies and make crafts 4 old people untill they had us sing a dumd song and go home. then we spent hours at the mall selling cookies, casue our leader's daughter didn't sell enough and we had to make up 4 her...worste 3 yrs of my life...

Then that must had been just your district cause here they do more then that. They go camping, yes they volunteer also, go to picnics, do alot of fun stuff.
lostchild06 2 years ago
First of all, commas are your best friends. Use them more often please. Secondly, I have only shown what I see. The images are right there plain as day. I have not toyed with them. Third, Im not the only one who has negative thoughts on CHILD beauty pageants, child psychologist also dont recomend them. I'm just another person on the outside looking in, and what I see isnt very pretty

All you posts have been deleted at this moment until you can write them correctly. They are an eye sore to read. Thank You :) ♥
lostchild06 2 years ago
How old are you sweetheart? 12? You write like you are. Using text lingo. Honey, baby, you're not using the phone at the moment. You have a key board there so I suggest you use it correctly. Until you actually write "you"'s and "for"'s correctly, anything you write will be ignored. Thank You! :) ♥

TOO MUCH MAKEUP! lol
they look like chuckie dolls o.O

Not the video maker, but the parents should be shot...this is just too awful to be true.
loxopsviren 2 years ago
Um... rude much?!!?i have some simple steps for you 1. think about the pageant girls like me reading this 2. think how you would feel if some1 said that about your parents 3. think about how aweful we now think you are 4. apolize to all the parents! that si a horrible thing to say!
jayjaygirl24698 2 years ago
Rude?
You're the one that's delusional. How can a mother take away the childhood from her own child, making it participate in such a terrible contest. I can't even cope with idea that a little girl could be dressed up like that. Children should BE children, and not made to look like sluts so their mothers could fill the hole inside their head in which brain used to occupy.
loxopsviren 1 year ago
I really think it is sad. Parade your child around like that when you should be focusing on their schooling and not how they look. They are still babies and need to have a childhood. Don't treat them like adults yet. That is just sick and wrong. Look at what happened to Jon Benet. She is dead now. Think about it .
GerardWayLuver13 2 years ago
The maker of this video deserves to be shot.

Says a skinny emo fag. Go slit your throat bitch, you're useless in the world. Your mom should of had aborted you. Now have a nice day ^_^
lostchild06 2 years ago
So right here you're admitting to being overweight, a homophobe, the type of person who would call a man a "bitch," as well as an illiterate dunce. "Should of had aborted"?
Is that what the school teaches you these days? Not "Should have aborted"?
I feel bad for you, kid.
goldenrhinogrey 2 years ago
First of all you do look like a scrawny little bitch or do you not see your self in the mirror? Nah too depressed to look at your face, have nothing to do with your life but to go around videos and calling them "overweight" without even seeing them (which Im not lol) . Second of all I'm not a homophobe. The word "fag" has many different defenitions but you wouldn't know that, you have a vocabulary of less then 100 words with just one meaning to them.
lostchild06 2 years ago
But anyways, your "illiterate dunce" insult fails. I'm writting to you right now in my second language, spanish is my first, and french my third and I can understand and read italian and portuguese. So if I spell something wrong in english or saying in a different way then I dont really give a fuck because this is only my second language. How many do you know? One only? and don't even know the different meanings of words, tisk tisk tisk. Try again bitch, try again. You are an epic fail.

If we could put as much energy into developing kindness, understanding, compassion, knowledge, wisdom and joy as we put into developing competitiveness and beauty, this would be a far better world.

Just remember, if you enter your child in a contest, don't powder on the make up.
webkinzmediamonster 2 years ago
im going to do a pageant too!
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
and on mine you cant wear alot of make-up. and im just going to wear powder and mascara.. ohhh and lip gloss

It's not enough that the media will destroy their self image later, but now the parents of these children has started them on the road to self destruction even earlier. Bravo for such great parenting. :)
Takingtrillin 3 years ago
haha i agree if they only knew what their life will end up like...its more of a little miss lindsay lohan pageant
PinkyBehr 3 years ago
nice, now i get it, they train them from an early age to get them to be stupid air headed barbies when grown up.. sweet
clockworkalexdelarge 3 years ago
This is fun for little girls and shame to all the perverts who look at these little girls.
this allows little girls to have self confidence. Going to the pool and being on stage are the same thing. This is not sexualizing little girls. These little girls do this for fun! It's like playing dress up for them. Positive outcomes for these children is to be more social and be more open to people.
shame on anyone who thinks otherwise :-P
MKaytie 3 years ago
def agree! my little sister loves pageants, and so did i when I did them!
lildixie88 3 years ago
The matter is not about what little girls feel, but what parents and adult people feel watching them. I think it's weird, this can happen at home, between friends, family, even school, but not for tv, for the freaky people around the world, not all people is inocent like kids x_x...
quinquiunica 2 years ago
I could understand the point if these pagents demanded some level of skill or talent on the child's behalf, but they don't. In fact, when you get to the talent part of the competition 80% of these tone deaf little girls screech at the top of their lungs to some bad broadway tune and the other 20% dance like the hookers that their mothers used to be. That's the saddest thing about these "beauty" pagents
thegirl44 2 years ago
Those sure are some fake grins.

all of these little girls are beautiful.
but they ARE only 6 years old.
why not pageants with no makeup or radical
hairstyles.
do the moms not see what happened to jonbenet?
citlalliink 3 years ago 2
what happened to jon benet had nothing to do with her doing beauty pageants the media just decided to blaim it on that. . .if she didnt do beauty pageants it would have never made headline news. . .beauty pageants didnt kill jon benet a sick person did.

Don't change the subject.

whos changing it? Still same category

You are so wrong in your statement.

You dont even know what were talking about so dont get into it. We got into a conversation about something in another video.
lostchild06 3 years ago
that's sick you think that way. you're only one sided and do not know how to show your opinion without showing anger and frustration lol
randomassbass 3 years ago
I got frustrated because mathcomat got into the conversation without knowing what it was about. Its a conversation totally different from another video from a long time ago. You talk with out knowing. Thats kind of sick
lostchild06 3 years ago
Naturally they're cute. With all that fake-up, they look like wax dolls.
yaintime21 3 years ago
Ok now, I'm watching this on VH1 for the first time and this is some disturbing stuff. Like shouldn't there be laws against this. Parading little girls around in BATHING SUITS. I mean there has to be some research displaying the damage that is being done to little girls that go through this. Why must there be so many messed up parents in the world?
jahlin87 3 years ago 4
These beauty pageants are a pedophilias dream come true! how could a parent who claims to care about their child enter them in something as crule and dangerous as this? these children desereve to be living normal lives, these kids are only 4!!! seriously! how could anyone think that putting a whole lot of hair spray and mak up on a child normal!!! not to mention the big malibu barbie hair styles! they all look like they have just been to a plastic surgeon! parents give your kids a break!!

they do that in dance competitions do, they wear even less though and move their body. ooooh how nasty wow
*sarcasm*

Alot of dance competitions are looked down upon when sexualizing children. No one ever denied that
lostchild06 3 years ago
horrible fucked up fat american moms who torture their (not beautiful)children and expose them to rapists.

Why would you say that these children are not beautiful? I agree with you on the first and last part of your statement but to say that these children are not beautiful is an asshole remark.

It is not fair to tell a child they can't do something if they want to do it. That's the sad part! So there ya go.
Alli3692 4 years ago
Hey alot of little boys wanna play with bb guns. Should you let them? But they want to so badly.Pfft Just cause a kid wants to do something dosent always mean its gonna be good for them.
lostchild06 4 years ago
i didnt mean for everything i meant for the beauty pageants.
Alli3692 4 years ago
I think that little girls can compete if they want to! These little girls wanted to compete! You think its because their mom pushed them. You heard Joanna on the documentary. She said she never wanted to quit. And Aleena enjoys it. Kynnedy likes it. Jordan likes to have fun with it too. So why say its the parents fault? Yes, I believe they are a little mean to the girls sometimes, except for Jordans mom and Kynnedys mom. But guess what? The kids still want to do it.
Alli3692 4 years ago
omygawsh these little girls dont even look real!! they loo klike dolls! they r very beautiful(even natural) but i think its cute to have them look liek this to just for a pageant. wen i have a lil girl like this sumday i want her to be like this that is only if she wants to i mean id never push my kid to do sumthing. this is a good show but the mothers r such bitches!!! its horrible they only care bout them selves and make there kids do these things. its reeeeeally sad.
