British youth street culture is influenced by the Jamaican immigrants that came to the UK in the 50's and 60's more than the American "L.A street gang" culture. Obviously they are also influenced by the US to a certain degree but no way as much as the Americans would like to think.
Urban UK music is also heavily unfluenced by jamaican culture

The underlying fact is that the police and the government have no idea how to tackle the gang culture. I live in quite a rough area or south east London and I know that the police are focusing on the guns and drugs teaching people they are bad but this isn't the right way. If someone wants to sell drugs, they will, if they want to pick up a 9 and go and blast someone, they will. It's the mindset of gangs they need to change, and fixing the communities the government has drained the money from.

@DubbleTrubbleBubble I grew up my entire life around guns, I own 3 firearms, i live in a city of 100,000 people and still gun related crime is rare and isolated to street criminality and drugs, no one in my family or neighborhood or friends have ever witnessed a shooting, i have never felt in endangered being out on the streets, there are isolated cases of gang shootings but that is not any reason to take away My right to have arms. Governments have killed more people then citizens owning guns.

If we were to talk about murder with firearms the rates in all them high gun crime regions in the uk are tiny, London included. Look at the statistics, for years the amount of people in the whole of the uk killed with firearms has always been between about 50 - 100
