Cheers matey, shame you left out the Merseybeats & the Mojos, if you do another one please include them, they were both a big part of the history of the Merseybeat scene.
Mate, do you know a song which I think was called, "Missing You, Missing You?" It was on a live L.P. which I think was recorded at The Cavern in the early '60s. I don't know who the band were. "Like I told you before...I can't stand it no more..yes its true...yes its trooo. I'm missing you, missing you." Punctuated by a trumpet of all things but very merseybeat. Any ideas?...."My tears fall like rain....and I know....your the onnne to blaaaame."
Hey Brian "Griff" Griffith was a far superior guitar player than Paul and George. Listen to his solo on Some Other Guy, then listen to George's. Listen to his work on Howey Caseys EP from around 1963 - miles above any guitar players at the Cavern at that time. Ain't that right Griff :)
With all due respect to the various groups represented here (who are quite good), hearing this collage of the Beatles peers of the time clearly illustrates just how superior the Beatles really were.
I am reading the Bob Spits book on the beatles...Im on page 277 an this is a perfect way to enjoy that book. Knowing how the sound and feel was back then. Thanks for this! And if you didn't read the Beatles bio...you, especially shoul! Thanks again
Thanks for the comments, I made this film to give the feeling of being there, I still think that there has not been one great book or documentery on Merseybeat.
