i think the main trick on doing videos like this is to film the scene as fast as possible with the highest framerate as you can and slow it down in postproduction to normal speed. Everithing is in slowmotion then and you cant see the actors moving...
@matwocents matrix scene was shot with so many cameras were put around trinity and each camera set to take one shot while moving around her to give you the 360 degree effect, but in this add,the whole scene was shot with one camera, you can see at 1:58 to 2:00 the dude is posing and waiting for the camera to come by,it was only 1 shot,no cuts, and ppl actually stood there like statues waited for the camera to cross by :)
@aspawnofhell yea, i remember watching DVD extras for how that opening scene was made. thanks for the info on this clip. i do notice some slight movement now that you mention it. very cool.
@runescapefunnyvid my bad, according to fxguidetv which did an episode on the video, the software is a fake interface they made in AE - no such program exists. They created it to mess with our heads and give a false sense of how simple the effects were.
If the people who criticize this magical video could have done it better - or even made a LESSER video - you would have. But you didn't. Which shows you're all worthless hot air, and director Adam Berg is the Real Thing. Interesting, how the 'slackers' and do-nothings are the nitpickers. The ones here who are criticizing are the ones with no achievement in their lives.
soy un gran admirador y quisiera aprender el programa de efectos con la cual fue editada el proyecto. Tambien soy un comunicador y trabajo en video en un canal de television en PERU, exitos gracias =)
ugh. those first two pauses / directors make me cringe. aside from being terribly scripted for the commercial, they just make the filmmakers look like dicks.
I love the video, but this "making of" is a piece of crap. It's scripted and they don't say anything about how they made everything look frozen in time. The only thing I've pulled from this is that explosions require lots of light (duh) and that the video is only worth watching in the cinema, that is unless you wanna buy the new phillips whatever.
@megamix1029 the actors are literally just standing still. IT's a computer controlled rig, so they can do a few passes and add green screens in where they need them and get away with it. Some of the suspended actors are on wires. It's actually relatively simple.
OMG It's so easy. You can see this! You can see that! I really dont see why you people waste your time posting comments about how unimpressed you are. Here's a fantastic idea... MAKE ONE THAT'S EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE! Don't ruin one's effort and accomplishement because you lack imagination, innovation or even the simple ability to turn your gigantic "I know it all" brains off and enjoy something for once.
The whole thing was shot 50fps, so you don't see the actors move so much. I think there's three or four different shots in this thing, merged together. And yes, the bills and persons that are hanging in mid-air are practical, hanging from wires and stuff. The bullets and glass debris in the nurses' station is rendered in 3ds max o.O
Yes without watching the making of i thought that they robbed a bank drove into a hospital Bcaus u see the cars jammed into it. Took a defending position there and one dude took the clothes of an officer and jumped out.
That's not a making of and those aren't actors "standing very still" but just dolls placed in there.
Look closer, when directors come into scene, there's somebody walking from side to side of the screen, that's when they change fake humans with real actors.
look at the making of this are all actors who was standing still.. the one in the air and the cop who where kicked thru the window are hanging in wires..
I love this short. I felt the music was lacking for how stunning the visuals are, so I re-scored the entire music, and re-did the foley sounds. Click on my name if you are curious to hear.
True that it's not a very fleshed-out making of, but it says enough I think, by giving away how it was done. It at least reveals it wasn't done with loads of cameras rigged up like in the Matrix, moving around the same moment in time - this is just rails and cranes and actors standing still, plus extensive computer effects to complete the illusion. A bit of a disappointment really, though.
Yeah, To be honest I figured the whole scene had been shot in layers in front of a green screen and then each of the characters lined up and overlayed on the video of the camera moving through the scene
I did some research on this myself. it's all real people. as others have said, it's a combination of motion rigs, done in particular sections with "gates" to break up the paticular sections, a crapload of CGI, and way, WAY too much post-production. seriously. WAY too much.
only thing that would have made this better is if it were done in 3d. :P
It was done with several motion controll rigs and the seqences bolted together in editing. They have several "bridges" like the door frame or the window sill to cut from scene to scene.
Most props (guns, dollars etc.) where real, the explosions, glas and bullets where CGI.
@EloquensRobot they are clearly using flame or inferno at 3:51. This video was done with a motion controlled camera that can be used to replicate exact camera movements. The only 3D looks to be minor effects such as the glass breaking, the fire, money floating in Z space.
that's awesome, they have a shaky dolly camera, and a program that deletes all the shake. 3:41

Never mind, there's an actual making-of video linked to this one. It turns out they just filmed actors standing really really still.

Worst "Making Of" Video Ever
take450 1 year ago
The idea is really cool, but that cop-clown-cop can fit in 16:9 with some content up and down.
Of course, I'd love for this standard to become popular, but honestly I don't see it happening.
Too late, or too many 16:9 monitors and TVs sold. Maybe in 10 years...
BTW what a joke of a Making of
