  • Sweatin' like a swine

  • I"m thinking the sax player is Sado Watanabe from Japan. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • This guy broke new ground for jazz guitar...yet he shows such respect for the classics like this one. Take Five is a freekin' jazz standard if there ever was one!

  • 17 people are in the wrong channel

  • Beautiful guitar playing

  • wow!

  • Comment removed

  • Very Impressed

  • Like the sax player. Where is his credit or the bass player?

  • we are not worthy what a master musician wow

  • Isn't that "The Russians are Coming"??

  • WHERE HAVE ALL THE GREAT MUSICIANS GONE ????

  • i like this beccause he is following his inner joy and taking the risk that he might screw up or get lost. most(if not all ) jazz guitarists seem to be playing it safe by using modal substitue chord theory to get their notes. this is more like a rock or bluess solo. also note (pun inteded0 the wry smile on the sax player when soloing is handed off to him, i believe he is thinking " ok so you;ve challenged me to be real and if that's the game you want to play , im in. Emotional "playoff hockey"

  • I like George, his fingers always seem to have a story to tell. A lot of jazz players I can't jive with because while they play incredibly intelligent complex things it comes off like a dictionary full of complex words. There's lots of big complicated words but they don't tell a story. George is a GREAT storyteller.

  • Sounds a little sloppy at times, but much better than his effort at "Take the A Train" which sounds plain retarded and absolutely sloppy. Who gives a shit how fast he's playing if it's not articulated well. Speed metal was a good example of when speed starts to sound retarded. At least it didn't go THAT far.

  • @noumbrella09 Not all speed metal sounds retarded, there are plenty of good three chord country songs, playing raw SRV style can be exciting, and not all jazz sounds like over complicated mumbo jumbo. I've heard good things and seen fantastic talent in ALL music styles, including hip hop, which I am NOT fond of in the slightest. Just because "I" don't LIKE it doesn't make it "retarded". Jazz fans claim they have higher intelligence, intelligent people have broad horizons and open minds...Right?

  • this is why cut outs were invented

  • WOW! Have mercy, that is how it is done plus! All I could think was my goodness, This is the George Benson that is so incredible !

  • Great!

  • i could listen to just the ride cymbal 100 times. tight.

  • it' s like he invented the fucking fretboard, insane.

  • Thank you my sweet heart Dimitris for this our first song together, I will never forget....

  • King George is one of my all-time guitar heroes!! Amazing performance in every respect. He is putting on a jazz guitar clinic there- with his incredible soloing, statement of the theme, and creative comping. I hope I can get to see him perform live one of these days.

  • what fucktards disliked this?

  • @stebbi666 Jealous hacks & haters.

  • Amazing !

  • KING GEORGE!!!!

  • 17 people took only four.

  • @knzsaturos i took 3 and a half

  • Amazing play, amazing smile at the end GB is GREAT!! I also love the sax performance as well!

  • george benson is a great talent..thought Dave Brubecks sax player ... Paul Desmond was better tho..no offense to this guy with Benson .... meant.

  • @mykalt29 of course he was. It was written by Paul Desmond.

  • now thats one badass shredder

  • clap...clap...clap...clap...clap!!!!!

  • He definitely took more than five!!!

  • how you can dislike this , give me a break

  • One of the most talented musicians to have ever lived right here...

  • this one have sold his soul to the devil !11

  • @kylemaste I think that's the only explanation. lol

  • 17 people...nah, they're just trolls, who can dislike this?????

  • Who can dislike this song? I love it.

  • anybody knows where I can download the whole DVD??

  • I always liked and admired Benson's playing but this is just absolutely incredible.

  • @jeffee47 amen

  • ナベサダの方がいい。ベンソン食われたかな。

  • What a treasure! George Benson is fantastic!

  • This is amazing. I started listening to GB on the Cookbook Record. He's a fine singer, but the more he started singing, the less I enjoyed his music. His guitar playing was always the draw for me.

  • Wow! That was take at least 9.50

  • I can dig it !!!

  • l've stolen SOO many riffs from this......

  • is he playing Eb harmonic minor scale?

  • Comment removed

  • Great !

  • y justin bieber?

  • Notice how the song is in a 5/4 time? 5 beats per measure. THATs genius

  • Yes OF course he's the great great guitarist since 1970's years !!!!!!!!!!

    A particular song !!!!!!!!!!

  • Words cannot describe the effort he makes to recreate this piece to make it his own. His improvisational skills are unnatural! So much feel! I love the saxophone playing too! A great rendition of a classic!

  • The best guitarist in the world. Good mind and great Rythm technique.

  • whatthef***********iswrongw/music????

  • God like!

  • can he give me his guitar pls ?

  • @GeneralEisenhower I hate to break it to you but his guitar is probably...regular. Good quality but regular. The sound is all Benson.

  • Where have all the fabulous guitarist gone.....?

  • Parola di chitarra

  • M NOT WORTHY!

  • HOLY FUCK

  • crap. im going to go slam my fingers in the door now.

  • wow!!!awesome!!!

  • betta work!!! He is sooo gorgeous !!!!

  • I play this tune at many of my gigs - been playing it since the late 60's. As much as I love it, it might be time to put it away. Long live King George!

  • Wow 1986 in Montreux I was there great fantastic atmosphere. Oh dear we´re 25years older...

  • this tune was corny until i watched this video

  • @Anjiruu that could be taken negatively haha

  • @AakwardAardvark

    True.

This deserves more than just 240p**

    All better. lol

  • Epic!

  • I'm sitting in the living room applauding a youtube video.

  • @samurai1833 your computer is in your living room?

  • @AakwardAardvark, I have three, this one is connected to the small home theater system.

  • @samurai1833 ahh sweet

  • @samurai1833 ...i agree with you

  • now thats a true take five!

  • I like Benson playing after 6:30 - he looked like his hands was playing alone and he was just watching it.

  • @CHC Bireli is world renowned in Jazz circles... check him out on You Tube..

  • My face is melted too. Woweeee!!!

  • Big guitars for big sound. He laid down the smooth on this one.

  • Why do Jazzers always use those big FUCKING guitars...??? Fuck it...why would anyone want anything besides a a King V or a Randy Rhoads? xD

  • @thehornypuppy Because of the sound. A guitar like Bensons sounds alot better acoustic and without distortion than those you've listed :)

  • @zomg0d I was joking...BUT better or worse is a matter of taste. I really don't like neither the looks or the sound of this guitar. The only reason i'm here is because a friend posted this on his FB and i accidentally clikced on it...and god damn it people should stop playing Take Five...is the jazz equivalent of Sweet Child of Mine or Back in Black. EVERYBODY plays it.

  • @thehornypuppy That's where you wrong son, playing the take five is not about the first few notes, this video is all about improvisation, which makes it different to Sweet child of mine and stairway to heaven and... not every body can play what KING GEORGE played here.

  • @thehornypuppy Yeah Jazzers are IDIOTS for playing those big guitars, eh!

  • @thehornypuppy

Five words... Get the fuck out dummy!!!!! Get some fucking perspective clown.

  • @ke1mc2 Coming from someone who can't take a joke...it's quite sad.

  • @thehornypuppy

Yea, great you were joking. So what. You are still a turd... It's quite sad. Just get the fuck out asshole.

  • @thehornypuppy Pure sound, no distortion that can easily mask a mistake. Notice how one rock guitarist, Ken of L'Arc~en~Ciel changed his guitar to something like Benson's guitar for his jazz solo in Hurry Xmas? The sound is everything! Besides, Jazzers can play riffs rockers can't.

  • @ctg21361 and yet another gullible uneducated bastard that can't take a comment for what is worth...fuck. Why you guys are such stuck up bitches?

  • @thehornypuppy Stuck up? You must be the one who's stuck up if you are the one doing what you are accusing us of. And yes, the guitar without distortion is a pure sound. I've played with distortion before. It is true that Take Five tends to be played by everyone. But I stick to the pure sound of jazz. If you want to resort to name calling, fine. I just won't stoop to your level or resort to using the words you use. I made my point, and I'll stick by it.

  • @thehornypuppy But honestly, I like the fact that you admire Ken of Laruku. I believe (I could be wrong) he is very underrated. When I saw him easily switch from rock to jazz (and we're not talking about progressive or fusion jazz but the older form of jazz, which had my eyes bugging out when I saw the guitar and heard the solo) and smoothly transition back to Laruku's usual sound, he went to the top of the list of best J-rock guitarists for me. I just wish my dad could have heard Hurry Xmas

  • @thehornypuppy Blast this character limit! I was going to say that if my dad happened to still be alive and I let him listen to Hurry Xmas, he would have loved it! (Every time he listens to a progressive jazz group, when he requests a song, he asks for more old time jazz)

  • @ctg21361 Though! I do appreciate the fact that you know of L'Arc en Ciel...i love all music. And certainly like this one...i do also stick to the fact that this would be the equivalent to Sweet Child of Mind of Jazz...EVERYONE plays it. And there is no such thing as a better sound or pure sound. NO SUCH THING...maybe an instrument build better. Better materials and even in constructions there are many techniques that change very specific attributes of the instrument.

  • Simply BAD ASS!!!!

  • Great solo

  • When you truly feel the music while you play, you can do no wrong...........

  • Without a doubt, George Benson is the BADDEST guitar player on the planet!

  • @Tallsmilingtree - i'll thumbs up to that!

  • @Tallsmilingtree I agree there isn't a a guitar player on the face of gods earth dead or alive who who could play that much shit as George just played. Absolutely no one will ever be able to touch him. The greatest guitar player to ever pick up the instrument.

  • @CHC4669 Well some would argue Wes Montgomery (who was Benson's inspiration) was the greatest, however some say Birelli Lagrene is the best there has ever been and ever will be. Either way he is an awesome guitarist...just wonderful.

  • @hornetgags Well I've never heard of Birelli Lagrene so it would be hard for me to comment other than. He's probably not a Jazz Guitarist cause I probably would know of him. Having said that who in this context of music that Benson is playiing within I can say who ever he is he ain't playing no shit like this with Bensons "Feel Creativity & Expression" not to mention technical prowness. So many consider technique as the end all. There are a lot of technical players who don't say shit in the

  • this would be perfect without that godawful DX-7...

  • It's amazing how groovy this is.

They took an already pretty grooving song - in 5/8 no less - and made it even groovier.

    Pure talent.

  • @ReallyAngryBieber 5/4 that is.

  • I think I just went backwards through puberty...

  • can anyone tell me if this is in the same key as the original? i cant tell!

  • @AlexanderDeSchutter this is in e minor, i think that is the original key.

  • he laughed at 6:22 cuz he knew George owned.....

  • one of the best guitar solos EVER .

  • great !

  • who's the sax player?

  • @wimforstmann Sadao Watanabe

  • @wimforstmann he is Sadao Watanabe or just "Nabesada"

  • Hi I wish you success

  • mad power mad strength baby... you cant be a bitch and do dat shit.

t ayo fuck u isleoforkney Ill kick yo ass. i felt every bit of it...

    very profound in essence

  • I bought the album "Bad Benson" around 75 or so and was blown away by this man's skill and technique....he is one of the greats.

  • Man he actually looks like he's having fun!

  • George trying a bit hard for his solos, needs some space, frantic

  • @isleoforkney i disagree completely.. i think he is leaving space, and you know exactly what rbrown47 meant by his comment why are you such a smart ass?

  • @ryanneglect I don't know. I just thought that it was a silly comparison with Bruce Lee, no harm meant, rbrown is just a dull name to call yourself, he is probably from the UK

  • W.T.F!?!?

  • Haha, I was watching the beginning reading the comments, and wasn't all that impressed.. And then, a flurry of sweet goodness hit me right between the ears. That's how you know you're dealing with a professional.

  • George Benson is the Bruce Lee of guitar

  • @rbrown47 but Bruce was good at martial arts, I don't get it?

  • Holy Shit...

  • Absolutely friggin superb solo.

  • Great

  • just awesome

  • 14 people don't know how to take five

  • @sk8rdudeism 16 now! lol

  • maybe while it's raining or sunSHINe or not ... this is pure and rich and GOOD.

  • Those dudes are havin so much fun on stage. Music will never be the same again sad to say.

  • @Viperzcry if ever you're really wrong at some point in your life .... you will always be right about this dUDe.

  • @Viperzcry don't be so pessimistic man, tones of young cats are still rocking the stage and take Benson as an example

  • @Viperzcry don't be so pessimistic man, tones of young cats are still rocking the stage and have Benson as an example

  • Man this is a jam!

  • the spirit of Chuck Norris is strong with this one...

  • Absolutely faultless, watch in awe peeps !!!

  • Gold

  • I don't know what to do about my now melted face.

  • @ParthofthePigeons I didn;t know what you were talking about until 1:12 hahahha

  • aw man that would have sucked to be the guy at 4:12 (to have to follow a solo like that)

  • @Hamporkcheese heh agreed, but he's one of the premier saxophonists in the history of history. tough act to follow, to be sure!

  • @Hamporkcheese Sadao Watanabe

  • This song really takes me somewhere else.

  • god damn.. shredding on a gretsch. thats tough hahah

  • @brianownsall123 think it's an Ibanez FG 100, still ridiculously difficult though!

  • *puts guitar down*

  • What a bunch of assholes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome clip!

  • I feel ghetto listing to this song.........THIS IS AWESOME!

  • Without the cocoine that performance woyld of never took place aint it right george? Lolz look at george beanson how high he was !!!

  • @thelizardking10, Or maybe it is the look of concentration due to have to play in 5/4 time? just sayin..

  • @raeltalt careful, liz, most posters don't know what 5/4 time means...only musicians understand this complicated rhythm played usually in 3+2 fashion....

  • victor bailey bass soundish during sax solo. wide chorus effect

  • is it too recursive to dislike the dislikers of this vidpost? who be hatin' on benson?

  • 14 people love getting down on friday instead of taking five

  • Nuthin compares!!! Simple as that!!!!

    Thumbs up peeps....

  • Nothing is better, nothing is best. Take care of your health, get plenty of rest." Bob Dylan Nothing Was Delivered

  • Is that DX 7 organ sound? eeesh. 80's synths had no color. Benson shredded the hell out of this tho. Youre right Benson is insane. And who's on sax??

  • George Benson is to Jazz as BB. King is to blues

  • jimi hendrix level mabe?

  • @DavinciBeatz100 i think he totally surpasses jimi, jimi made great music and changed rock music and did lots of great things but i would definately say george is a better guitaist and singer but songwriter u maybe could say jimi (idk in my opinion two different genres) but george didnt wright this and a lot of the songs he plays on guitar but he makes songs and makes lots of songs he sings and is still awesome (i love both of them by the way)

  • gegorge was/is such a phenominal player. his performances like this just blow me away!

  • George Benson has a stellar performance but he has a solid rhythm section and good sax player to boot.

  • I have never heard a musical instrument do this!!! lol

  • That's a blues guitar right?

  • Next time someone talks shi$ about benson, tell them google, George Benson Playing "Take Five" enough said! - Damn this was awesome
