Well, that's because they're trying to adapt Mike Mignola's shade-heavy, unique style to anime designs. Just doesn't work alright. However, I do give them credit for flawlessly capturing his style.

I thought it worked pretty well. If they seriously did an animated series of Hellboy, they'd probably do some style changes to make it fit the new medium, but in a parody/homage, it pays to be as faithful as possible.

Uh, either you're joking, or you really need to do more research. Mignola's been drawing this style since the 80s, at a time in which the typical anime/manga was, for the most part, shit-ugly. This is a style completely unique to Mignola, for he developed it BY HIMSELF; it's a self0taught and completely unique style. Either you're a troll, or just plain old stupid. Long live Mike Mignola.

The best ED for Zetsubo Sensei... even scarier than Zessei Bijin. They should have just chuck out marionette and put this in instead.
