Having worked behind the bar myself, it's busy, hectic, loud and you can become extremely irritable. I would never do this to a customer because I would like to keep my job, but sometimes I WISH I could. That's the difference between a dive bar and a classy place.

Actually !! the reason people fill the glass with ice is to slow down the dilution rate of your ice. the more ice the longer the drink will stay cold.

i like to tell people to think of the bathtub affect, Where when you sit in a bath it fills up more(picture yourself as ice), so if anyone thinks you are ripping them off, they are nothing but a complete wanker because realistically you are putting less soda in the drink which actually makes it stronger.

yes! good explaination. I dont like saying it, but I HATE people that dont get this and try to argue the other way, thinking they are completely correct. All i say is, no matter what, you get one shot of alcohol, becuase that is how much you paid for, so with more ice, there is less room in the glass for mixer, so the drink is stronger.
