I got to this stage once.

But only because the staff at Nickel City in Campbell, CA is a bunch of pansies and set the number of starting lives to 5.

the bullets have to hit where your pilot is sitting. this really isn't a video showing skill at all because he just spams his powers and anyone can do that. although the game is meant to be played like that, it just isn't any fun to watch.

This game is pretty good in my opinion despite all the negative reviews it got from the press (besides, many critics are overly biased and lack in good taste). The game is fun to play even though it's seemingly impossible to avoid death in certain situations in the later stages. Nevertheless, the music is quite bad.

Even though this is a late response...I do see why it'd get bad reviews. I got a good feel of the ship in games like Dodonpachi and Progear pretty quickly, but this one, it's like...HELLO HITBOX

You really can't weave through bullets in this game. You have to avoid them altogether.

This was the last wide-release Capcom shmup (I saw exactly one Marx Matrix and one Progear in my life), occupying a delicate border between the 1942 era and Mushihimesama territory. As such, you're not *expected* to weave through thousands of bullets, nor is this a good idea. YOU NEED THE FORCE SHIELD! That is what keeps you alive!  That and the bombs, which also do a ton of damage. Thread the needle only if you have no other choice that particular second.

So if you just don't use a continue on level 6 you can get to this level?

Yep, you cannot use a continue on any of the first 6 stages, if you just use one or more, then the game will game over after the 6th stage
