  • j love this style

  • there is no one playing a plucked instrument in such a way.

  • I found real style....

  • He also does use an electric mandolin, hence the sustain.

  • there is something surely special about his instrument or setup. The sustain & response he gets from such a tiny neck beats logic.

  • fantastic. I watched him when he was very young and was running around the stage in the midst of a concert. True child prodigy.

  • How does he achieve the gamak on the mandolin? Is he sliding or bending or what?

  • The gamakas consist mostly of different types of slides, combinations of slides and hammer-ons etc. with variations of pauses that make up the color of the gamakas that are rendered. Its not something that anyone can explain in a few sentences, as you can see its very complicated, but I just tried to give you an idea. Cheers

  • I dont' think you can achieve gamaks on a western mandolin, even an electric one. If you had the instrument in your hands, you might have your answer. My guess is that using single strings instead of pairs would make it easier sustain notes while sliding over the frets...

  • Excellent! Would it be possible to upload the complete song?

  • oh jeez...i gotta practice my mando pickin more!

  • lovin it! he´s the man..
