Edberg's footwork was world class then and would still be world class today. His net-coverage and movement was second to none (if not the best ever, then on par with one or two other expert volleyers).
Modern players are not better athletes, they are merely specialised in todays brand of game - which mainly consists of running around in the back and hitting top spin groundstrokes.
I love Stefan for ever but this "contre-smash" was more easy than Federer's VS Roddick in Basel. In French Open 1988, John McEnroe make the same VS Lendl.
Stefan had the best legs in tennis. Steffi too. Good shape

Agreed. Adidas had a comercial like this: "You can´t have Edberg legs, but you can have his feet." Showing then a nice pair of shoes.
