About Samuil of Bulgaria it wasn't that distant - his mother was pure Armenian. Wife of komitupul Nikola (Bulgarian High Noble for whom it is presumed that has Jewish blood ) So the King of Bulgarians Samuel doesn't have too much Bulgarian blood but nevertheless he spoke bulgarian and there is no doubt about him being Bulgarian Emperor.

  • @Metalhead1908 I did not understand anything of what you said

  • Για δες !

  • @Yanitsaros Basil 2 has not been waging defensive warfare and it has not heavily influenced by missionaries serious changes in one country are not madeby foreign missionaries but what I'm saying is 1.19 and 1.21 Samuel and Simeon are not barbarians as the video says

  • @Yanitsaros You know how Byzantium "heavily influenced" other nations

  • @martinlisitsata, the Byzantines sent learned missionaries to the slavic countries, and invited their tsars to come to Constantinople. The Byzantines could hardly afford to spread their civilzation with war, being in endless wars against everyone at the time, Arabs, Persians, Turks, Slavs, Avars, Bulgars, Huns, Crusaders etc. There were two waves of reconquests, Justinian, and the Macedonian dynasty, other than that, wars were defensive

  • @Yanitsaros wait a minute... dont say bullshit..... turks were not existed in time of byzantium..... bulgars ? what are these???? slav were but not like slavs...... thats good to know... so plz next time say it correct , turks? omg how did that came out of ur mind? lol those stupid hunen beings from that time? lol haha

  • @Yanitsaros Bulgaria did not invade anything at the time of Samuel and just tried to survive if Byzantium was "equally ruthless" with the barbarians (which offends me at that time the Bulgarians have their civilization) then Byzantium is not а civilization

  • @martinlisitsata Well Tsar Samuil liked his army and always stood with it. He gave a crushing defeat to Basil II in Traianovi Vrata in 986, 100 times greater than Basil II's victory in Belasica, where a part of the byzantine army attacked Bulgarians from behind due to betrayal. Just my point.

  • @martinlisitsata, Bulgarian invasions of Byzantine lands certainly took place, starting from Simeon I. This was preceded by Slavic invasions as far as southern Greece, but before Bulgaria, slavs were not a unified nation, and were not a kingdom. Bulgaria was the first Slavic kingdom, and yes, they had wars with other Christian kingdoms, including other slavs. Bulgaria had a great Christian civilization, but remember that Bulgarians were heavily influenced by Byzantine civilization.

  • @martinlisitsata hahahaha you said one more big bullshit what?????? byzantium was not a civilization???? hahahahahahahahaa byzantium is GREECE!!!!!!!!

  • @Metalhead1908 the byzantinte empire was roman but the town byzandium pontos and the asia minor (smyrna ) was populated by mostly greeks-christians and it was based on greek culture but byzantine empire was anti-Hellenistic

  • @666Beefman i know that mate.... but the real truth is not that byzantine was anti-hellenic..... it was 50-50 ...... half was anti-hellenic but the rest werent...... the meaning is that we are GREEKS :) but in anyway... i am ΔΩΡΙΕΙΣ so i don't care :P i am GREEK! :) sparta-thessaloniki-kos-rhodes-seashore from asia-syracuse-rimini (italy) same blood people....... ΔΩΡΙΕΙΣ!

  • @Metalhead1908 imean yeah they were alot of greeks but byzantine destroyed hellenism and back then they were called themselfs as Romioi (Christian greek ) tora malaka ti sou milo egglezika ellinas dn eise :P

  • talk about civilization which ordered 14,000 soldiers to be blinded and barbarians who have made the language of Eastern Europe

  • @martinlisitsata, war is an area that sits on the border of civilization. Though we may make lofty rules on how to behave noble, the savagery that occurs in the mindset of men at war is enough to cast dark clouds over our souls. However, Basil II did what was necessary in the face of equally ruthless invaders, who would stop at nothing to massacre his people.

The 'language(s) of Eastern Europe would be no different from Turkish if Byzantines did not introduce religion and literacy to slavs.

  • رحم الله مولانا محمد الفاتح

  • The first seconds of mucis reminded me very much of Armenian, so close ;-)

  • @papagamias

Bulgarian King Samuel was a son of Armenian Princess if you mean him...

  • An old latin wisdome say: U LIE LIKE A GREEC

  • 1st...Macedonia is region...Macedonians talk slaven(mix of serbian+bulgarian)so they cannot be greeks...2nd in Balkan is no Basil only Vasil(Vasa,Vasilije) and he can be again Serb or Bulgarian(eventualy some other slaven ,but rare ,cos they no use this name)#rd..Many of Byzantine(Vizantija) emperors was Slavens like Konstantin,Vasilije1,2 and so on our national simbol is one of simbols in Byzantinum(Vizantija) is greek clumsy translation Basil=Vasil

  • U ARE SLAVS U ARE NOT macedonians

    THE macedonia IS NOT COUNTRY

    THE macedonia IS NOT nation

    THE MACEDONIANS ARE GREEKS

  • The video fails to mention the cultural renaissance of the Macedonian period

  • The rulling dynasty from 867 to 1056 was Macedonian(Armenian) dynasy, many of it's emperors where of armenian descent. It's not science, check out some history books

  • @Yanitsaros who told you that bulgarians were the majority?? Bulgarians, real bulgarians were dead because of basileios what you call bulgarians was mostly vlacho-greek population and the leftovers of other burbarians

  • "Soon" has passed.

  • very good my friend, very good.

  • poor subhuman, Macedonia was ancient macedonian and Byzantium was multi cultural under roman rule

  • @Truejustice100 But the Byzantine Empire was largerly Greek, both linguistically and culturally.

  • @TheBrolit that's right, cause greek was an education language...but you cannot change ethnicity with education

  • MACEDONIA IS GREEK

    BYZANTIUM IS GREEK

  • God video - greeting from Russia

  • @galangbayu90

No body respond to this guy, his link will give you a virus....

  • @galangbayu90

Wtf ass hole it's not even a movie, unless you are just a troller typing links to support your troll job.

  • Byzantium was not the Greek Empire, It was the Orthodox Christian state and last vestige of the roman empire, The wars between Tsar Samuil and Basil II were not a war between Bulgars and Greaco-Romans but a civil war within the Orthodox Christian nation much like the "fitna's" in the muslim Caliphate.

Basil II was one of the last "populist" emperors who redistributed wealth and land to the Peasantry and Laboring class, He was Very frugal and Spartan and beloved by his subjects.

  • Die Sprache ist griechis und Macedonien gehört zu Griechenland.

Macedonien gehlrt zum gleichen Kulturkreis wie Griechenland, wieso diese Streiterein ?

  • πόσο όμορφο τραγούδι!!

    *

  • @Yanitsaros well, it's true that during these times a great number of Bulgars came down in Macedonia and made a lot of attempts to "impose" their culture on the inhabitants. Nonetheless , throughout the course of history, from 1100 B.C. it was mostly greeks who lived in the area called macedonia

  • @Yanitsaros Yes they are but they speak OUR language Bulgaro-Srbski and most of they HISTORY IS STOLEN from us like tzar samuel was half Bulgarian half Armenian but every one near him called him BG cuz he was ruler of Bulgarian !

  • poli wraio video. Kai egw oneirevomai na zousa tote na tous gnwriza

  • εξαιρετικό!!!!!!

  • These offensive words "track" Macedonians "are created by the escape from Egypt jews before 3800-4000 who colonized southern Bulgaria "Elada", now managing the U.S. and write false history

  • This is Bulgaria with the people, history, music - everything else is a political lie...

    "Internet will kill the devil"

    Bulgar - Bulgar!

  • @bgpobeda The north-west of you country, the Quadrilateral as it was once called, is Romanian also, remember Stalin took it away from Romania after the end of WW2. But i am not mad about that, anyway nothing can be done, and i am happy that it becam part of Bulgaria and not part of URSS or something like that. What would the world be without hate?

  • I agree with you but there's something I want to add. All emperrors adopted a Greek name in Constantinople.

  • at the time parts of thrace were referred to as Macedonia... so it could be construed as macedonian

  • You say "Otherwise, we would speak slavic today" and then end the sentence with "since slavs were illiterate baboons until the byzantines and germans civilized them."

You realie that Slavs had their own language, Slavic, and yet you still refer to them as "illiterate baboons"??? That's pretty illogical wouldn't you say???

And if Germans and Byzantines "Civilized Slavs" then why do Slavs have thier own culture and language???

  • yes, but they did not have a unified written language. the cyrillic alphabet is based on the greek alphabet.

  • @SiberianWolfProSCO To make sth clear. Slavs didn't have an alphabet at first - this doesn't mean not their own culture. It's just that Byzantines , in order to teach the Slavs about Christ, sent Methodios and Kyrillos. They invented a new alphabet, called kyrillic , with an eye to offering the bible in a written language that the Slavs could use. Slavs didn't believe in Christ at first , but the alphabet remained.

  • "Otherwise, we would all speak slavic today and we would have to start from cave man times, since slavs were illiterate baboons until the byzantines and germans civilized them."

I see you're getting angry because you don't like it when people tell the truths about your crappy ancestors. But please try to control your emotions when you type.

Now don't you see that your post makes no sense and it is filled with contradictions???

  • I know it is hard for the slavs to say they were part of any true Greek related anything! When the Byzantine Empire started the slavs were still riding in their gypsy wagons looking for somewhere to settle!

  • Slavs are prud to have Bulgarians as our ancestors. They kept Byzantium in check when the Greco-Roman forces wanted to subjugate, exploit, and make the world all second class citizens compared to their own children.

  • If the Slavs say they were the ancient Macedonians, then that would mean they were the head of the Byzantine Empire soon! I Think they will tell the Romans, Greeks, Armenians, that they did not play a roll in all that only the sillyslavians did! That would make it Byzantjiumski! LOL!

  • For God sake people he is Armenian most of the Greeks clame the bizantine empire to be there solo empire, they often call it Greek Empire forgeting about Armenians and what they have done for the empire,if they were realy true friends they will help Armenians rather to see them as foreigners.

  • the most stupid thing i ever reed

  • they cannot comprehend difficult meanings!

  • i love greek people like i love myself.

but please Google macedonian dynasty and you will see that is Armenian.

Basil 1 the founder of the dynasty

  • lol you got thumbs down. for what? talking the truth? Anyways I agree the founder was Armenian and many subsequent emperors aswell. However that was very common in ancient empires, the monarchs being of differant ethnicities. And the people of Byzantium Armenians, Greeks, Macedonians etc... all are ancient and great people.

  • @PeopleOfAr just to justify sth : macedonians are greek as we say cretans , pelloponesians etc. macedonia is agreek name also , ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΙΑ

  • @PeopleOfAr hey armenians , greeks etc... dont seperate greeks from macedonians or you are historically inaccurate and a lie speader

  • @Ksesikotheite I leave this debate to you. As far as I know yes Macedonia was Greek but today Macedonia is a separate country with separate people speaking separate language… I was talking about modern Macedonians as also having this ancient heritage. But eventually I don’t think people in those days had the same understanding of ethnicity as we do today. They say Armenians were Phrygians, does this means we are also Greek? Or better yet we are probably all Africans all together. Peace to all.

  • @PeopleOfAr well you think is it fair for ancient macedonians to recognise fyrom's slavs as "modern macedonians" ? thats why i tried to correct you before.

Phrygians werent Greeks. They maybe were hellenised but not greeks.anyway i agree that ancients didnt have the same beliefs like today about ethnicity. And about Armenians , well if Armenians claimed to be Greeks , i would be very happy to accept them. You know it depends why someone claims for.FYROM try to steal history.Armenia NO.

  • @PeopleOfAr in my point of view , to be greek has nothing to do with blood..Its all about culture , ethims , respect to history and knowledge , love for nature and humanity and making the world better. So anyone can be Greek if he accepts the Ancient Greek ideas. And Fyromians dont do this. They claim the ownership of a big historic part of greek history. Thats my problem and not their name. Should they consider themselves as greeks ,should they follow the greek way of life then they're welcome

  • @Ksesikotheite oke I understand your position. If you say like that I agree. I didn’t mean to say Macedonia wasn’t Greek in the old days. Don't forget Cyprus is Greek, Constantinople is Greek, Pontus is Greek also. About Armenia I don’t know but there is one theory called Helleno-Armenian hypothesis claiming that Armenian and Greek language are closely related. But I don’t know really. I also heard about Armenian-Phrygian connection but I also don’t know if this is any true.

  • @PeopleOfAr

It would be very distant on Indo-European lines.

  • @PeopleOfAr

Constantinople had its foundation with Greeks but was established by Romans and was the center of Orthodoxy and then became Turk.

So no it is NOT Greek.

  • @TheAwp45

It was Greek. Greeks founded the city. Greeks populated a great amount of the city's population, they ran the empire for the most part, and Greek civilization was the dominant one throughout the empire...until the Turks invaded and converted every one to Islam and the Turkish language. It's difficult to support the notion that it was any thing else except Greek, even if one should consider the fact that it was Constantine's intention to make it Nova Roma.

  • @AVIATIO

It wasn't Greek. A Roman deeply expanded and enhanced the city. The city was multi-ethnic. The Emperor wasn't always Greek, neither was the advisors. Greek civilization was dominant but it was combined with Latin. Turks failed at converting every one. It is easy to support the notion it wasn't Greek. Constantine was going to make it Nova Roma and he did.

  • By this same argument, the Roman Empire was not Roman because it was a multi-ethnic empire. The city might have been so, but Greeks were the majority. The Latin influence was only marginal, and by the time of Emperor Heraclius what vestiges were left of it were thorougly eliminated. 400 years after, the Empire completely consisted of Greeks, traditional Greek lands and Greek customs--until the Turks came. The only thing however Roman about Byzantium was its name and the Imperial institution....

  • @AVIATIO

And most of it's Emperors were not Greek....

Neither was most of the government..............

  • @TheAwp45

Again, this matters not at all, seeing as most empires are governed by rulers of many ethnicities. Further, most of the government consisted almost entirely of Greeks circa and post 800 AD, since the time in which the Empire centered mainly on historically Greek territories.

It's a complicated historical issue. The Byzantine Empire was actually the legitimate remnants of the Roman Empire...it was not meant to be a Greek empire...but in many aspects, undeniably it was.

  • @AVIATIO

Yes it was in historical Greek provinces but that does not prove anything. The Western Empire was focused on areas that were dominated by savages. It doesn't mean there is a savage government. The Byzantine Empire was more of a political entity, like the United States, and was not to be dominated by one ethnic group since it was only invented to make ruling the Empire easier.

  • @Ksesikotheite In any case I have deep respect for Greek people cause we are always allies. Mithradates the Great was good friend of Armenians also.

  • @PeopleOfAr There is no need to say that i respect and love Armenian ppl..You know it already...And same is for all Greeks.

Traditional allies that never hurt or harm us.Unlikely to Kurds , that we still love but in the past they killed lots of greeks and armenians following turkish orders..Anyway , we need to stay united. The enemy is common

  • @Ksesikotheite I agree brother!! All the best wishes to you and your people!!!

  • Basil 1 wasn't the founder of the Dynasty and he was a product of mingling between an Armenian father and a Greek mother. He had Greek conciousness.

  • @eliopoulosgiannis If the father is Armenian he is considered an Armenian !

  • @titer2000 He had grown up in an hellenized environment in Constantinople, I don' t know which his consioussness was.

  • but they will never be GREEKS.

  • The Greek emperor from Macedonia Vasilios II defeated the Bulgarian Czar Samuil and got the nickname "Bulgar slayer".......oh wait that proves also that FYROMians are Bulgarians and they were enemies of the Byzantine empire!

  • merci :)

  • wat is the name of the song

  • always the best !!!! ((*****))

  • the slavic word Tzar comes from the latin one caesar. Basil's II mother was from Athens.

As the 29th of May approaches perhaps something for our marmaromeno emperor? I would love to see it. My admiration cannot be expressed with enough words. Continue this way

  • I really liked your video and your channel. If you need any help getting this video or channel exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. God Bless!

ps. I really liked your style of Video!

  • Some of the pictures used in your video on the Macedonian Emperors were outstanding. Particulary the one with the seated Emperor and the meeting of John Tzimices and Svyatoslav on the Danube. Can you give me some information at to where you found them.

    Thanks,

  • True, I would say for Komnenian the feeling of saving the Empire from destruction.

  • All of the Dynastys are cool in their own way, the Palaiologos dynasty was struggling for the very survival of the Roman/Byzantine Empire, and re-took Constantinople from the Crusaders. The Emperor in the Macedonian dynasty I like most, is Basil II.

  • I like the Komnenian Emperors the most. I like Manuel I and Alexios I, in particular.

  • Φίλε Ελίκρανον, ο Διαβάτης είναι Ελληνόφωνος σκοπιανός όχι Έλληνας για αυτό μιλάει έτσι.

  • Great video. Am I wrong in saying that the "Macedonian dynasty" they were actually Armenian?

  • Theodora was a strong character and saved her husband during the nike revolt

  • Interesting... didn't the double headed eagle appear in the late roman empire under the paleologi? By that time the city of Rome wasn't under Roman influence. Also, isn't true that the city of Rome imploded and lost complete influence by 400AD? If the above is true, why would there be a reference to Rome in the double-headed eagle?

  • The noble's language was greek. They had a Roman identity also. They also were composed of nations like:Greeks,Latins,Armenians,Cappadocians, Bulgars, Serbs, Isaurians, Varangians, just to name a few.

  • ALWAYS MY FAVOR

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful video. The background of emperors are very interesting, not many people know that and it's kind of you to write about them.

  • very very true!!! this is exactly what i used to say allways!!! tottaly agry with you friend! see how many wars we all had before Byzanties,Rome,Bulgaria,Armenia,Persia,Shcutians,Greece,Cilica,Latins......but NOBODY was ever dare to destroy eachothers culture, people, land, country or to harm woman or child(which is most disrespected thing ever} becouse it was Men to Men or solder against solder!!! and there is NO enmity just mens strive to power! unlike turkish bloody cowards, inocent child killers
