@bcbikers2 SAE at University of Buffalo built one on a budget of somewhere along the lines of 20k and ended up 19th in mich I think 3 years back?

It all really depends on the school support. a really good formula car can run as little as 10k put together right.

@doingforcexdistance UBC's car is typically $40,000. The cars from the European Formula SAE Circuit can be upwards of $1M (sponsored by a big company)

@bcbikers2 thanks. I'm joining Iowa State's team this year, and I've always wanted to build on of these super-go-karts as a multiyear summer project. Sounds like they cost at the very least $20,000, so seems unlikely.
