Social media is a new way of communication, the logical consequence of new technologies. Communication is necessary for human beings so human beings created the internet. Rudimentary as it was it only allowed for isolated voices broadcasting each of them from their own cell. But cells grew, multiplied and associated in pluricellular entities able to connect, transmit, interchange and generate new networks. Social media is a revolution that is transforming us into a more perfected being.
Social media is touching someone half way around the world, making a real difference in their lives and letting them in to do the same. You can't define it. And that's where the "(to you)" is important.
Social media to me is the real world interaction and sharing of information with others through a variety of tools, interfaces, and mediums. This inluded texting, twittering, e-mail, blogging, etc. This includes both text data, voice data and video data. Also, to me, social media occurs primarily via the internet and includes interaction between two or more people.
