I worked 96 hours last week and 120 the week before that. People come by and tell us they sleep better knowing we are there. Most of our calls are medical and ummm last I checked, Paramedic Ambulances were important too. And nikdick, I am in California so you see those huge ass fires on TV all the time. I have had to run for my life on more than one occasion. It is an extremely dangerous occupation and deserves respect no matter what call we are doing or if we are just asleep waiting.

Come on out to California. Santa Barbara County in Santa anta wind season. See fires jump 8 lane freeways. and have to deal with it for 48 hours without food. I will be waiting to hear from you...usually we dont have enough water, so we use shovels and the like...you get used to it after like 10 hours.

im a jr ff and i know that...nothing against your knowledge but even with the ventilation they already had it doesnt help much. the windows only provide little help..cutting the roof provides vertical and horizontal vents and allows all smoke to be removed and without the roof cut you would have to wait hours for smoke to clear to do overhaul
