  • My 85 year old mother says that this is one of the lovliest versions that she's heard. She didn't know that Pam's singing could be as good as her cracking poetry.

  • @ThePaxip Thank you! Lovely comment!

  • Lovely.

  • THANKS PAM, LOVED U WHEN I WAS YOUNGER @ HOME IN ANTRIM, THANKS FOR THINKING OF US IRISH, KEEP UP THE SINGIN CLASSES

  • Does anyone know the song Pam unsuccessfully wooed Rod Hull with? Sad to think it didn't work. What a lovely couple they would have been. And no doubt Pam would have been strict about climbing on roofs...a tragedy could have been averted.

  • This is a real gem, beautifully song and with very sympathetic instrumentation.

  • i've just heard that Pam used this song to woo Rod Hull into a romantic tryst. Apparently he was fond of gulls too. Can anyone confirm this?

  • ididn't think pam would do justice to a margaret barry song - but she did - fair play to you pam!

  • She's lovely - always has been.

  • I rember back in 1975 when she appeared on opportunity knocks and her lovely wry sence of humour as a poet but she is also a lovely singer !!

  • Actually, I stuck the still image onto this. Sorry it came out so badly.

  • this is lovely. I like all her poems about gulls but this is my favourite. I remember watching this live on TV back in the early 80s. It seems funny that a still image and a folk tune counted for entertainment back then, but I remember millions of us tuned in to watch Pam that night. Lovely stuff.

  • @maureenchesnut She didn't write this, it's a traditional Irish ballad

  • @BridieGallagherTV agreed
