If you had the floppy disk version you could link it with Summer Games 2 and play through all the events of both games towards your final score. My nephews and nieces used to love playing through like that when the family got together. My sisters just liked getting a hour or so of peace from their kids.

This was 1 of the all time greatest C64 games ever made. I couldn't even begin to count how many hours my friends & I spent playing this game (or how many joysticks I ruined "running" during races. [Joystick] *left* - *right* *vigorously repeat at full speed*.

I played it so MANY times, but all I really remember now is, I was like 14yo, sleeping @ a friends house, it was like 3:00am & my buddy, his bro & I were playing. That was 25yrs ago!

i cant do pole vault how do you do it?

@blobblesanimations you move the joystick down to lower the pole, then to the upper right corner to twist the guy upwards, then press the button to let go of the pole and drop. Took me a long time to get the hang of it, but I finally cleared 5.9(but on practice so it didn't save it! Grrrrrrrr.........)

Thanks for posting this. One time a friend and I were playing this and, as a joke, he entered his name as P---INGER (I guess a play on Henry Kissinger). Then he broke one of the "world records" and it saved the name! I was going apes--- but my friend just said, "Calm down, I'll just break the record again under my real name"--and then dang if he doesn't do it!

I remember the 100m dash and playing with a buddy. (wiggling the joystick back a forth). The only way I could win was when I made cheap comment about his sexual behaviour. LOL!

Aww I remember being about 5 or 6 and me and my dad would play all the events, think we broke a million joysticks waggling them like crazy!

How I remember this game! I was always Japan and I dominated the Pole Vault. My cousins would come over and we would play for hours. I would somehow come out on top as the overall winner in the end. My sister always gave me stiff competition till the end in swimming. But this brought out the best in us at that time and we talked smack to each other big time. Ok, so, tonight I was going through some VERY old paperwork, and I found a certificate that one of my father's psychology students had created for me back in 1985. I played Summer Games on our C64 religiously, and evidently scored a "20" in the Gymnastics event (I seem to remember that being perfect?). I was 11 at the time, and just found this today, at 36 years old! It inspired me to google "Epyx Summer Games" and I came across this vid. Thanks for posting, & opening the memory floodgates!
