whoaa:i remember this especially because of the theme tune and flag options..made me feel real patriotic.i,m goin down the chippy now to play galaxians..spend all me pocket money..nice vid..thanks for the nostalgic trip..
If you had the floppy disk version you could link it with Summer Games 2 and play through all the events of both games towards your final score. My nephews and nieces used to love playing through like that when the family got together. My sisters just liked getting a hour or so of peace from their kids.
This was 1 of the all time greatest C64 games ever made. I couldn't even begin to count how many hours my friends & I spent playing this game (or how many joysticks I ruined "running" during races. [Joystick] *left* - *right* *vigorously repeat at full speed*.
I played it so MANY times, but all I really remember now is, I was like 14yo, sleeping @ a friends house, it was like 3:00am & my buddy, his bro & I were playing. That was 25yrs ago!
@gjc82071 Same here! Those joysticks just weren't durable. And my dad would always snap them when he got mad at games and accused them of cheating. LOL
@blobblesanimations you move the joystick down to lower the pole, then to the upper right corner to twist the guy upwards, then press the button to let go of the pole and drop. Took me a long time to get the hang of it, but I finally cleared 5.9(but on practice so it didn't save it! Grrrrrrrr.........)
Thanks for posting this. One time a friend and I were playing this and, as a joke, he entered his name as P---INGER (I guess a play on Henry Kissinger). Then he broke one of the "world records" and it saved the name! I was going apes--- but my friend just said, "Calm down, I'll just break the record again under my real name"--and then dang if he doesn't do it!
always played as russia. yep great comps on this and spy vs spy good old days eh what would the kids think now i still play the ps3 against my daughter.very competitive still
Having to sit through the anthem after every event was lame, and there was a lot of waiting, but I played this game and the other Epyx "games" series constantly as a kid with my sister.
I remember the 100m dash and playing with a buddy. (wiggling the joystick back a forth). The only way I could win was when I made cheap comment about his sexual behaviour. LOL!
How I remember this game! I was always Japan and I dominated the Pole Vault. My cousins would come over and we would play for hours. I would somehow come out on top as the overall winner in the end. My sister always gave me stiff competition till the end in swimming. But this brought out the best in us at that time and we talked smack to each other big time. Thanks for this video and thank God for YouTube!
I would pick on my little brother. He would always be Spain (ESP) which he said stood for "eat some pie" I used to say it stood for "extra stupid person". Sometimes he would even cry. God I was a dick!!!
I remember gymnastics...and I rememeber finally figuring out how to do good flips in the air for high scores. Hahah..I was great at video games as a child.
@clydecromey that's it!!!! you still think your a child!!! get your fat burger eating ass off tha computer and go get some help before you hurt some1!!!! DELETE 27-0
Ok, so, tonight I was going through some VERY old paperwork, and I found a certificate that one of my father's psychology students had created for me back in 1985. I played Summer Games on our C64 religiously, and evidently scored a "20" in the Gymnastics event (I seem to remember that being perfect?). I was 11 at the time, and just found this today, at 36 years old! It inspired me to google "Epyx Summer Games" and I came across this vid. Thanks for posting, & opening the memory floodgates!
PRESS BUTTON TO CONTINUE!! LOL i remember just one button and this game gives me so many memories. I used to love that diving one as I would get many records on that. It has been almost two decades since i have played

@cheeseovision No, that was the company that made the game. But you could choose them as your country. Maybe they were planning to secede?
