Do you have ideas on how to fight childhood obesity? Help create a new cartoon! Your ideas craft the character, Chubster! Check out Chubster Goes To Fat Camp
I think its a good idea- use characters people know and admire- whether celebrities or fictional characters it encourages people to do something more than normal ads do.
How can you exercise for an hour per day when you're playing with Shrek DVDs, video games and McDonald's toys? It's like a commercial made by a condoms company that's telling you to be abstinent.
fiona knows just like anyone else.... getting married makes you fat... especially if youre having kids, and your husband is a slob himself, that and you live in a shitty bog in a shack... roseanne knows this too.
absolutley right, before coming united state, people used to mock me all day because i was bone skinny, but i used to like myself because i was energitic and healthy. But after comin USA, man, lifestyle change, even though i am not fat, i cant go out and play all day like before. I dont walk miles with freinds (now drive car), i dont go school six times a day ( only four times.)
see the whole point is too much of luxury and techinological reliance is killing rich countires!
This is the governments answer to the serious answer of obesity in American school children. The cartoon character Shrek, who also appears on advertising for Skittles, Snicker bars, Cheetos, McDonald's, Pop Tarts, Twinkies (with a green filling), M&Ms, Sierra Mist, Yogos Bits etc.etc. Disgusting and ridiculous. 5
In my opinion, the amount of fat kids in the USA is a real poor reflection on this society in general. Parents feed their kids crap, kids live off junk food, soda, chips and all the other crap. I see parents feeding their kids soda and donuts for breakfast....well I guess it is ok because it is low in fat, sugar is good. When I was a kid there was one fat kid in school, that kid by todays standards would not even be fat. I think that lack of discipline is out of control in this country...YUCK.
That was odd. A comercial promoting excersize. It has all of Shreks buddys. I am used to comercial's promoting obesity. It includes selling junk food and selling movies.
(continued from prior post) I suggest that we include, in our academic standards for promoting a student to the next grade, and as a standard for graduation from middle/high school, weight standards. Hence, just as we use grades and standardized testing (in some states) to determine whether a child moves on from the 6th grade to 7th grade, so we need to start incorporating weight standards as part of the criteria as well. That means if Johnny is 50 lbs overweight, he doesn't pass or graduate.
Some of the most intellegent people I've met are a bit doughy or overweight! You don't want to pass them only because they are overweight/obese?!?!?!? "You are over by five pounds lardass, you are held back!" I mean, really? I know this is your radical solution, but that is terrible!
The obesity epidemic among children is so out of hand, that I would say of all issues that threaten the future of this nation, the rapidly growing obesity problem of our youth will be the one culprit that, more than any other problem, will likely break this country in the future more so than terrorism, the deficit, global warming, or the machinations of foreign governments. The problem is so extreme, that I would propose a radical solution. (see in next post)
So has anybody figured out why the kid at the beginning is playing a Game Gear? I mean shit thats like 10 years old. I thought the purpose of the commercial was to connect with the kids. Not show them antiques.
I find it ironic that the Shrek characters are featured for this PSA, but the characters are also on endorsements for junk food that's marketed almost exclusively to children. Isn't that just kinda funky? What a kooky world we live in!
There is a lot of ironic stuff about this, but the most ironic thing that Shrek actually has an effect, because kids don't have their own money. It's the parents that buy the food, pay for the TV and buy the video games. So what you really have is adults being controlled by a cartoon character.
lol. maybe the SHREK games available for almost all consoles are so bad that they know they suck, so they made this campaing to avoid facing the failure
The Game Gear will take 6 x AA batteries to operate and it will only last for about one hour. Kids are forced to play something else because it ran out of batteries quick!
Get a bike! It never needs batteries, except at night, then only for lights. Bikes are fun, as I know from 35 years of personal experience. They also do not get outdated easily.
Oh, I see, this GameGear shows that this commercial was shot BEFORE Dreamworks made a deal to license Shrek to Carvel and M&M Mars and also make a video game of their own! Wow, what a great way to avoid hypocrisy!
Eddie murphy now lives his life sitting by the phone waiting for that inevitable call informing him of his necessary "contribution" to the next Shrek movie. I forsee Murphy killing himself when Dreamworks runs the Shrek series into the ground. That will probably be around Shrek 7.
however, make sure to eat the shrek happy meal (order the shrek milkshake with it), buy the shrek videogame, and rewatch shrek on dvd whenever the television is available.
it's all up to the parents....it is not McDonalds fault, it is the parents! They are in control of what their kids eat, wear, do, and who they hang out with...then they go whine about how their kid is out of control....HMM, gee, i wonder who caused that, YOU the parents!!
