That was awesome. Aretha got happy and she has always had gospel vocals. I absolutely love good gospel singing like this that stirs up your soul and make you want to shout. I would love to find me a church home with good old fashioned gospel preaching and good gospel singing. It doesn't get better than that.

I was playing some music by Bro. Joe May & my mind went on the great Marion Williams & I thought I would see if this performance at the Kennedy Center was on youtube!(this site never ceases to AMAZE me). I remember watching this on tv back in '94. Three all-time giants of Black Music paying tribute to a prime influence of theirs & one of the greatest singers who ever lived. I love it when Sister Ree puts the mic in front of another great vocalist supreme -Mr. Joe Williams-Memories, indeed!

Some people are so gifted to rise above any obstacles placed in their paths or to allow any differences to stop them, like they were destined and nothing can stop them. Not to suggest they didn't work really hard to get where they are. But in th e1950's who would have thought that an African American Transvestite would have become one of the biggest stars of all time?

I absolutely Looooove the great Marion Williams. I love the fact that she still got her church on right there with the President. She said on her live recording "If they let me in the White House I'd shout it from the roof top" This was real close and she proved to be a woman of her word.
