  • My experiences were virtually identical to Firebeards. They played in the Weavers in Newington Green a few times too. And I've been trying to find that crazy version of Purple Haze for years... Good to hear Tracy's operatic singing again :o)

  • @antifascistas2010 Christ that brings back memories, I remember them playing purple haze on the mandalin many times in the weavers. Brilliant live band.

  • Brilliant... come back Sons of the Desert... miss those Elephant and Castle days...

  • I was about 21 and saw the band by accident in the Elephant and Castle pub. Instantly, I was hooked. After that, I saw them everywhere they played for about a year. They took a break while the female singer had a baby and we lost touch after that. But they were an amazing band who put on an incredible show (I vividly recall the time the bassist was throwing round his double bass so wildly, he brought down the ceiling over the stage) and they did an amazing cover of Purple Haze on mandolin.

  • I saw them perform this song in Amsterdam supporting the Pogues in 89, and it was a great performance,

  • love the song, love the band. I have loved them since I first accidentally walked in the B tent at Reading in 1989 in time to see them play this song live. Awesome.
