@tdennler1 music scales generally have 8 notes. if you have a base note to your music the fifth, in this sense, is 7 notes up from your root (base) note. so if you had a song in the key of C the 5th would be G.

@tdennler1 if you go to sytrus and look at the octave (the numbers) you can make it a fifth by turning it to the half (1.5, 2.5, etc.) thats one of the easier ways to incorparate a fifth onto the tone. he doesn't mention thirds either xD

How funny you mentioned those three common minor scales, when you then go on using another one: the phrygian scale (Minor with flat second. Geekily you could say that commonly used along with the fifth when playing a song in minor. Such as the case Am aeolian -> Em 9- phrygian -> Fmaj7 lydian -> E phryghian -> Eaug phrygian, then back to Am aeolian or natural Am as it's more commonly called.). Good choice!

Tip: in the playlist, rightclick the pattern and choose Clone selected.

@flyflyflyify To get the pattern thing mate its at the very top of the screen in the middle, theres 5 buttons. From right to left they are: View playlist, view step sequencer, view piano roll, view browser/plugin picker, view mixer. If you are having trouble understanding what each thing does, highlight the button and the description of what it does should be visible in the little bar above the timer at the top left hand of the screen. Hope that helps, im a complete amateur with fruity loops lol

@Kioooi It's the same tones as the harmonic minor just with a raised 4th (as far as I remember). There's variants of each scale, but those 3 are known as the "three minor" scales, from which all the others are taken. Been years since I used theory though :/

The three types of minor he was talking about were Natural, Harmonic, and Melodic minors. Natural you do not change any notes going up or down, Harmonic you raise the seventh note, and Melodic you raise the sixth and the seventh and cancel them out when you go back down. just incase you didn't know
