  • Thanks for this, i needed a how to.

  • p.s. your fix-it skills are great. your filming skills need a little improvement. :)

  • thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • if my truck no longer has acc functions how do i fix that??? i have no stereo, wipers, or windows..... at the least i can drive it now though so not to bad

  • if you tilt the wheel up all the way and take the 3/4 circlip off the center - its very easy to screw a 6-32 screw onto the tilt pins and twist them out with your vise grips - then you can slide the tilt back and you dont have to butcher the slider

  • id like to ask u how do i get that bracket out for the tilt if i do not have a tilt

  • Well, watched your video, did the repair, and got it all back together and functioning. Thanks for posting it, only thing I couldnt do is re-use the little roll pin that holds the linkage to the replacement part. (NAPA part # 655-1296). rigged it with some wire, works. Thanks again, I dont think I could've done it while filming with one hand. good job.

  • Dude, empty your ash tray.

  • put the damn camera down! other than that thanx for the info

  • I gotta do this to my 91 F150. Well I have to remove the ignition switch. Can I just remove it and quickly switch the other one in? OR do I have to take apart the hole steering wheel?

  • your posting off this has probally saved my ability to work, helping others is a spiritual principle and surly was a blessing too me. You da man mr wagner.

  • you are a helpful gentleman and I thank you so very much for posting this you did a terrific job your a very bright man.

  • thanks for showing that I have to check that out on my 83 4x4. it starts fine but the shifter is really stiff.I'm actually a jorenyman mechanic but I havent taken a ford column apart like that before.I a pro at taking gm columns apart though.

  • gonna try this on my E-350... i hope its just that easy of a fix!

  • Mission accomplished...in less than 45 minutes! That includes cuss -time when I jammed the pliers in my hand. Thanks for the video...helped a lot!

  • I'm about to try this...The only thing I would have done different in your video is pick up that penny by the gas pedal for good luck.

  • My '91 automatic is slightly different. There is a sealed bearing on the center shaft which needs to be removed to gain access to this problem area. However, the problem proved to be a faulty ignition switch, which was fairly easy (even for me) and a $10 part.

  • haha, you gotta get it in the hole man!

  • hey man, i did it, damn it i put it back together! lol, and i had to run in the house like three times to watch your vid. but now im running into some problems, after everything has been buttoned up, i get a light click or like a catching tick noise, but only when i turn and only sometimes. and although i was sure that my wheels and wheel were straight, now my steering wheel drives about 15 degrees counter clockwise. or about 10 o'clock position. any advice??

  • @derrick0228 well one thing that I never mentioned was that you should mark where your wheel comes off because it is quite possible to put it back on cockeyed

  • i have an almost identical truck (89 f250,5speed,4x4,tilt wheel) with the same problem but mine will work for the ACCESSORY position and the ON position but the for it to be in the ON position, the key is turned all the way forward to the START position. would replacing that part fix the problem or is it elsewhere?

  • @farmboi78 yup I would say that will MOST likely fix the problem

  • @farmboi78 if you get down to the ignition switch, it has holes to mount it to the steering column, they are elongated so you can loosen and readjust it to have a better function,,, does that help at all??

  • Thanks a million for this video... My truck was half out in the street when it died and when i went to restart it the ignition broke just like yours. The tow truck guy charged me 25 bucks to tell me he wouldnt help until they plowed the snow. (NICE) So I found your video and manged to use the rod going down the steering columb to start the truck and then screwed with the it till i got it in gear and pulled it back into its spot. Thanks Man you are a life saver.

  • Hey Wayne, I'm so glad I found this vid. I have to do the same thing to my 91 w/auto trans. I have a quick question. That rod you trimmed down, will it just make is to the truck can be put in gear without the key since it's an automatic? Any help is awesome, and keep up the great videos man.

  • nice job

  • do all 91 f250 trucks have tachometers in the cluster do you know?

  • @TRUEFOOTAGE not all of them but most that Ive seen do

  • @TRUEFOOTAGE only if it has the deluxe cluster package

  • Does the steering wheel still lock when you turn the key all the way back, since you "modified" the rod thingy? Dad's 1990 Dually (see part 1 or 2) has the same problem, except his broke in the "on" position.

  • Nevermind, I just had to wait til the end of the video. Another question though. On an automatic, would the shifter have to still be in PARK to turn the key back to LOCK, since that piece was cut off?

  • I believe that it would not... after cutting that piece off it should make the inter lock defunct

  • Ok Thanks

  • do you really need a steering wheel puller. cant you just undo the nut that holds it on. and do the explorers do that to.

  • yup you gotta hve a puller cause the steering wheel is taper fit on there so unfortunately you cant just pull it off... the explorers didnt have this same problem because the tilt was set up differently

  • LOL, if it was easy, it wouldn't be a Ford!

  • ha ha true that

  • And you have the patience to do that??

  • yup

  • he is pretty good at getting it in the hole hahaha lol

  • u need a tripod

  • yeah weve talked about getting me one just hasnt happened yet

  • the song is rockstar by nickleback

  • whats the name of the song at the end. anyone ?

  • sweet deal

  • i think ford 70's- 90's trucks are the coolest trucks ever!

  • i did that t to my frinds truck and i had to pull the stering cloom

  • looks easy to steal a for truck LOL

  • them tight holes are pretty hard to get things in there

    LOL!!

  • LMFAO yes they can be

  • you must be skilled with them them little holes hahahaha
