I hardly ever see Challenger, ever, I see way too many new Camaros, I like the Mustang, and even though I've always liked Chevy's, and I own a 69 SS, I think if I had to pick a new car I would pick the Mustang.

GM and Chrysler and their shit talk about their powerful larger displacement engines simply live in a bubble. Ironically, Mercedes is considering dropping displacement in favor small potent V8 formula, the 4.7L bi-turbo M278, 5.5L bi-turbo M157, and most interesting, the M152 NA 5.5L, which outputs around 415hp and 390 ft lbs of torque.

  • @77Mikenice They aren't bringing out the SRT8 because they are testing the v8's of them. The SRT8's equivalents are the mustang shelby gt500/boss 302 and camaro zl1. If they brought those out, the challenger would still get destroyed. Also, other reviewers compared the SRT8 against the SS and GT and it resulted witgh SRT8 still in last. I am also a fan of the challenger and especially the charger, but the challenger is not as good as the others.

  • @9b8 power is only a portion of what makes a car faster! 10 to 20 horsepower is no big deal ina difference between a camaro or mustang. put both V6 together in a race the Camaro wins, The 2010 Mustang GT's revised V8 produces 315 bhp (235 kW) @ 6000rpm and 325 lb·ft (441 N·m) of torque @ 4250rpm, thats how much power my then stock LT1 with Long tube headers made LMFAo and dont forget you ford dumbass you guys have 4 valve per cylinder, then you wonder why you get so much power from little cubes!

Your "stock" LT1 is no longer stock, if you added long tube headers! That is good for at LEAST 20HP right there, if you want to argue numbers. The truly stock LT1 ranged from 260-305HP, 325-340 ft lb torque. Reality check: that is a 5.7L/350CI engine. Ford's 2V 5.4L mustered that much! So can't argue "torque."

  • @9b8 yeah well the long tubes only added about 14bhp, 100% stock dyno'd at 299hp, 331 ft lb torque, then with the bolt ons, headers, 160 Thermo, K&N cold are intake filer, it dyno'd 310hp, 345 ft lb torque. this was before my rebuild. got into the low 12's on stock motor with bolt ons, and a 3.73 rear end!

  • @TheLTXCamaro Around 300HP is pretty typical for those. I'm surprised you didn't get more with the bolt ons with a tune. But I doubt you pulled LOW 12s with a ~350BHP motor in an F-body car, unless you gave it a little shot. High 12s, OK maybe. You say the long tubes only yielded 14BHP...that is intriguing. Did you have a full exhaust or ONLY headers? And what brand and size headers? You should have gotten a bit more net power with those mods. Makes me wonder about the tuning.

  • @9b8 Yes it ran a 12.48 with slicks and some weight shedding. race weight 3400lbs. i ran pacesetter 3" long tubes open headers, no exhaust or cats. it would of made more power if it was tuned before dyno. But now my setup is a whole different story. now im spinning it to 8200rpm because of the big ass cam i have on it now. Stock refinished hypereutectic pistons, the stock bottom end is good for about 700hp with all ARP bolts. ive never spray my car yet, soon i will and be aiming for mid 9's

  • @TheLTXCamaro I hope you have some stiff valve springs on that pushrod setup to spin it 8200RPM, lol. Also, be careful spraying with those hypereutectic pistons. They are brittle and don't really like being thumped too hard. I also hope your rods aren't stock to spin it at 8200RPM! The forces grow exponentially with each 1000 RPM. The ARPs will hold with no issue, but watch the rods. I wouldn't spin a motor that fast unless I had some stiff billet I-beams; those forces get insane.

  • @9b8 oh i know! i use Manley Nextek springs they can handle a .650 lift and a 10,000 reliable limit. and i re did my stock bottom end by Cryogenic treatment(Pistons, Rods, and Crank) new wrist pins, ARP bolts and new rod bears and main bearings also new cam bearings. and still use stock crank. Yeah i know about the NOS thats why i dont spray and rather go N/A. LT1 pistons are great on spray when stock. but no spray when already at 500hp also have Jesel Shaft mount rockers, Manley pushrods too.

LT1 are nearly bullet proof if tuned right and taken car of! the Flow # is .50 305CFM Intake and Exhaust is 215CFM and like ive(stock LT1 camaro) said before ive beaten shit loads of fagstangs like the 94-04 GT's & 5.0's. i will admit i have lost against a cobra(supercharged) of my friends and he had a 4.10 rear end while i have a 3.73(when my car was Stock) but overall Camaros are better and they last. its all about LSX now!!!!

The coyote STOCK heads outflow your apparently fully worked pieces. Yes, they are 4V, but they that well despite the smaller form factor. Many claim the coyote heads flow close to 350cfm at only .472" lift in 28" of H2O. Ford's engineers state that they outflow the GT500 heads by 3-4%.

  • @9b8 The Coyote heads flow close or just as good as the stock LS3 heads, but the coyote heads must have a high lift and long duration. it all depends, do you know the specs on that? and im not sure about the inches i would have to ask my tuner, i can do the math now but im too lazy haha but it all depends on lift, duration, and what RPM your spinning. If you had a GT why didnt you keep it and do a build? btw if your ever on ls1tech.com you can see my car on there!

    My cousin had his 5.0 dyno'd at the corvette shop where I had all my mods done. His 5.0 dyno'd 379 RWHP bone stock, it's a 6 speed manual. My '09 LS3 vette dyno'd 374 RWHP bone stock. It's also a 6 speed manual. My vette has the NPP exhaust which the SS doesn't have. The 5.0 is 300 pounds lighter than the SS and has more RWHP than the SS. How can the SS be faster? That 5.0 is very underrated, just like the '03-04 cobra was. I love the SS, but it's not faster than the 5.0
