  • Caru'r gan yma mor gymaint!!

  • Saw him sing this recently at Gwyl Gobaith. Didn't understand a word but he was just superb, and he wasn't feeling well either!! You would never have known it though as he gave the most wonderful performance.

  • @Porkchoppa76 Pawb i'w farn i hunan. Mae Rhydian yn canu 'Yma o Hyd', yn fy meddwl i, yn well na'r un Cymro arall dwi wedi glywed yn canu'r gan - a dwi wedi clywed pob fersiwn elli di feddwl am.

  • This is the first time I hear a song dedicated to Magno Clemente Maximus in music so beautiful. Macsen Wledig was born in Spain, history and legend come together perfectly in this song

  • Er fod i yn canu hyn siwt gymaint yn ysgol acati, rydw i dal i caru y can hon :)

  • chwarae teg i ti rhydian o'n i'n meddwil mai cont oeddet ti ond ti wedi canu'r gan ma yn dda iawn dal ati!!!

  • O'r diwedd mae lle ar YouTube i gyfathrebu yn Gymraeg!

  • Yn fy marn i, mae'n canu yn well na Dafydd Iwan!

  • can da

  • I wish i could still speak welsh. I was fluent at 4 until the south wales public school system forced it out of me, we didnt even have a welsh teacher in high school for the compulsery welsh gcse... madness

  • malu cachi tony s gang ,sion dafydd = collabrators

  • @rd998lc Ond dim bai y canwr - ond bai y cyfieithwyr ydi hynny. Mae'r geiriau cywir yn yr 'info'.

  • everytime I feel subdued I listen to this and feel better right away!!!

  • subtitles are wrong btw. some english retard who done welsh gcse translated it.

  • It's obvious that the subtitle re 'hen Fagi a'i chriw" has been changed to something less personal to Margaret Thatcher and yet is supposed to retain the general sense of the original without giving offence. Subtitles are done in advance for songs and someone obviously decided to go easy on MT. In songs where the copyright is in English, the subtitles have to be the original song. This wouldn't have been done by machine because of copyright issues - and what machine would come up with "Tony"?!!

  • .. . and the lines are in the wrong places, right? I only know one or two words of Cymraeg but that doesn't stop me from loving this song. I asked my choir director to sing it, but he said we wouldn't get the right feeling without percussion. I think he's wrong. We would - if we had the right passion! :-)

  • Trabskatuibs are TERRIBLE!.

Im a fluent Welsh speaker and at least 80% of the translations are incorrect

  • @lewys120

    post the correct subtitles!

  • You don't remember Macsen Who was he? You don't know One thousand and six hundred years Is far, far too long ago. When Magnus Maximus left Wales Three eighty three was the year He left us as a whole nation And today – we are still here! We're still here today! We're still here today Despite everything and everyone Despite everything and everyone Despite everything and everyone We're still here today. Next verse = new post
  • @DouceyIsABlueBird Let the wind blow from the East Let the storm from the sea roar Let the sky split with lightning Let thunderbolts shout encore. Let the fainthearted keep wailing Let the serfs grovel and fawn In spite of the darkness around us We're ready to greet a new dawn. (chorus) last verse = new post
  • @DouceyIsABlueBird

    Remember that old Prince Macsen

    Left our country as one

Let's shout out to all the nations

'We'll be here until Kingdom come!'

    Despite all the collaborators

    Despite Maggie's gang, we're alive

We'll be here for ever and ever

    The Welsh language will survive!

  • @lewys120

Trabskatuibs?? I thought that was some unknown language until I shifted my right hand one key to the left! :-D

  • I love this song. Am collecting different versions, have three, so far, and love this one especially. Diolch yn fawr for uploading.

  • @nonwatcyn. Sorry, but that's tosh ! A machine couldn't possibly interpret/misunderstand 'hen Fagi a'i criw' as 'hen Tony a'i criw' ! Clearly someone has tried to make a political point. If Maggie Thatcher & the Conservatives had had her way, S4C wouldn't exist - personally I don't think we should forget that.

  • @PhilCymro - Apologies, as I speak Welsh I haven't really paid much attention to the subs but they (man or machine) have clearly changed Maggie to Tony ...........and it would have been Maggie that Dafydd would be referring to in his song for sure and Rhydian sang the correct version. Can't understand the reference to Tony in the subs tbh. :)) Great song don't you think - and doesn't Rhydian sing it well - best rendition ever imo. :) Thanks again for posting!

  • @nonwatcyn

Mrs T was the Prime Minister when DI first sang the song, so the original lyrics referred to Maggie's gang. But as the Prime Ministers have changed Dafydd has changed the lyrics to "Johnny's Gang", "Tony's Gang", "Gordon's Gang" and "Cameron's gang". It looks like the subtitle editor has pre translated the lyrics from a recording of DI singing during the reign of Tony's gang without realising that Rhydian would use the original lyrics.

  • Interesting how "er gwaetha hen Fagi a'i criw" (despite Magi Thatcher and her crew) has been translated into English as "Despite Tony and his Gang". It wasn't Tony and his gang, who promised a welsh fourth channel, and then renaged on the promise after the election, relenting only in the face of a wales-wide protest & Gwynfor Evan's hunger strike. Just for the record.

  • @PhilCymro Hi - The subtitles are incorrect. Don't quote me but I understand subtitles are acquired through some special sound senstiive equipment. Therefore words can be easily misunderstood. I've explained in the 'information' that the subs are not correct. Also the Welsh lyrics & the English translation are there too.

Thanks for your comment! :)) Diolch :))

  • PLEASE READ: If anyone has video of Rhydian at the Ryder Cup Opening Concert 2010 singing 'This is the Moment' or The Impossible Dream' could you please share it with his fans worldwide by either posting the links here or send me a private message and I will copy the links on his fansite.
