Then, what happens to the ballance of the electrons "orbiting" the original unstable atoms? They must go somewhere to keep the new atom electrically balanced, right?
I'm not a nuclear physicist, but from what I understand, the charge has to be conserved. That is, if a positive charge leaves, an equal negative charge would have to be emitted also.
