  • I pray for Japan every day. My mother's church even had a fund raiser a ways back and sent all the proceeds to Red Cross Japan Relief Fund.

  • i pray that japan heals, when that earthquake hit, my uncles family was there, they were okay, but the things that go through your head are unthinkable, what happened to these poor, innocent people was a tragedy. do anything you can to help them, every dollar counts, every dollar counts. please help them, they need everything right now, their lives are on the line, manami kon is writing notes to her missing family, by donating money you can help this little girl find her family, they need help.

  • I think She is the best (under 18) singer in the world.

  • When it got towards the end, she was hitting the higher notes as the pictures of people passed by

I can't even tell you. My body was just controlled by shivers and I realized tears were streaming down my face.

    I'm a 13 year old girl.

When I saw this video, I instantly ran to my mother and made her donate 20 dollars to japan.

I know it's not much. I can't do anything about that. But if we all did that....

The world would be a better place.

It took Jackie Evancho to show me that. Thank you.

  • If you can't cry about this then you have forgotten how to cry. Perhaps that is what is wrong today with so much of the world. Where has our compassion gone? How can we possibly overlook our own tears? Lets all get back in touch.....thank you for this song Jackie.

  • i have no words only god knows

  • Thank you for your inspiration Jackie!

I cried the first time I listened to you sing this song.

I recorded my own vision of this song. My friend used it in his video in memory of his late family member.

    You are amazing!

    Elena

  • To @JohnQuincyAdams1

Hooray for you and thank you for fighting for what is right, I hope God blesses you in so many ways for standing strong. I know that God has heard all of our prayers and will help Japan too.

    hugs,

    Victoria

  • I really hope that little girl finds her mommy

  • I really wish nothing would of really happened I just feel like bringing all of those people and kids to be in my family I will pray for you Japan

  • трогательно!прекрасно!

  • The last time I cried was 1986. I could only watched half of this. I cried today. I pray for you Japan.

  • I cry every time I see this vid. I hope the little girl found her family :);)

  • 4:58 :'(

  • OMGOSH! This song is really well sung and it fits this video very well. It made me cried. I cried harder for that poor girl whose mother, father and siblings are missing...........I wish I could be there and help them all that I could.

  • Save the patients in no longer functioning hospitals. The emergency team, packed with sleeping bags and food from home, as not to take scarce food there. Cities and towns were reduced to rubble. 15,000 died. But those who survived were miserable. Nothing remained. Asphalt roads were ripped and covered in sea sand. Many children became orphans. Many lost loved ones. It has been 9 months since that day, but the heartache is still there. Fukushima was a beautiful place.

  • March 11,2011 was a very cold day. A little after two in the afternoon we in Tokyo felt a great tremor, of about 5 in magnitude. Not much happened in Tokyo which is about 400km away. After the tremor ceased Tokyo's daytime population were calm but all wanted to get home to see family. All public transportation was suspended without ever knowing when they would resume services. The massive crowds started their long walks home. The roads were also jammed with drivers. It took my son 3hours to wal

  • 1:09 made me laugh, and yes, I'm going to hell for laughing, lol. But this girls voice is angelic

  • 5 people dont have hearts

  • oh gosh. those pictures. this song. i usually dont cry while watching videos, but those pictures of those families and the thought of a 4 year old girl who's parents and sister are missing, i just had to shed a tear. i pray for her and the people of Japan and may God guide them through their darkest hour :)

  • this song is so beutiful so is her voice i saw the seson of amaricas got talent she was on i just love to hear her sing this song makes me cry i love it <3 and whoever dislikes this video shame!!!!

  • I'm crying right now. That poor little girl at the end. I hope her family is alright :);)

  • omg this si very sad :(

  • Well sung, Jackie! Absolutely beautiful and very touching. Hopefully the tragic video with you singing in the background will have touched a few hearts and purse strings to help the Japanese cause.

  • Wow!! This is very sad. I usually don't cry ever but i was getting a lil teary-eyed watching this...

  • Jackie is in Japan right now, with the David Foster & Friends Concert Tour.

  • the three people who dislike the video, i hope they come to understand that this is a crisis and they need to help. wait if their country was destroyed. they really need to seek help.

  • 2 people dont car avout Japan or something its sad

  • yes , i'm really really sad about what happened in japan , and i hope they rise up again soon , and i know they can do it , but all that destruction happened by war in gaza , so i think you should care about them too because they are humans too , they need your help more than japan , because in gaza children die every day , that's not fair

  • @MUHAMMADm120 it's a war, human ideology, religion and, insanity. what happened in Japans is a natural tragedy. We do care what's going on in Gaza, and the whole middle east, its just that, the leaders are fighting for something that mostly people can not comprehend of why or what they're fighting for. There are too much hate, that only human understanding and educations can stop it for the benefits the children. Japan's tragedy is a mother's natures wrath, no body is immune to it.

  • @MUHAMMADm120

It is the leaders of those nations that are primarily responsible for the strife. The war is political and not humanitarian. I feel for the people both in Israel and Gaza. Until the leaders of those nations set aside their political agendas and agree to cooperate, no one can help even if they tried...

  • @MUHAMMADm120 - Don't expect fairness from life, because life is not fair.

  • @MUHAMMADm120 A human being in pain needs love and compassion wherever and whoever they are-Japan, Gaza, US, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist,.... Those who point at specific places like Gaza or Israel allow a non-loving emotional agenda to take the focus away from these human needs for Love and replace them with the self righteous need to feel Right and above this principle. When I hear Jackie sing this song, my thoughts are of the Loving feelings she expresses for all in pain. "To Believe"-hear it

  • @JackieFan123 - Huh?

  • The voice of an Angel~Jackie Evancho~Prayers for Japan

  • I wander who were the two (2) ass holes that gave this video a thumbs down (dislikes). How can anyone not love this video

  • @acard232002 Usually the dislikes are from teens who have been neglected by their parents and hope to get some attention this way. I have seen this on a lot of her other videos.

  • @prometheus0814 - Agreed.

  • Surely, this singing of this child and the message of love it contains can only be from God. The innocence of an 11 year old child bringing people the world over to God...certainly sounds like the mark of God's modus operandi to me. :)

  • Phil, I haven't commented on your beautiful video, but i did donate, and it seems appropriate that Jackie will be in Japan on Oct. 19,20. Maybe she can spread some more cheer when she sings as she did in this magnificient rendering.

    Many thanks.

  • I would like to announce for the benefit of everyone that Sony Music had put a copyright block on this song and video not long ago. I was very upset about this, as yes they do have the copyright for this song as Jackie is under contract with them. However, the point of this song/video is to raise money for the devastated people of Japan and I sent Sony Music an e-mail to this regard. Thankfully, they saw the logic of what I pointed out and lifted the copyright block on this son/video! :)

  • A stunning collection of photos, set very well to a superior piece of music.

  • jackie evancho is awesome.... ican't stop hearing her, what a beautifull incredible voice!!!!............stay strong and solid JAPAN / Ahmed from EGYPT

  • u do know that was the womans world cup and they beat america

  • @danielsullivanful - What does that have to do with the beautiful message in this song?

  • i was so happy for japan when they won the soccer world cup..they deserved it. they need something to smile about these days..right?:) stay strong Japan <3

  • @eggnoginazation - The would only deserve to win if they outplayed their opponent.

  • jackie evancho won america's got talent last year and she was on wizards of waverly place

  • @katelynfe Actually, she was only the runner up on AGT, but she has won the hearts of millions of people and is on her way to a fantastic career.

  • @holywells Actually she very likely won the viewer vote, but the producers (and Jackie and her family/handlers) had her "come runner-up" so she could sidestep the AGT 2010 26-city tour in 2011. She was going to be too busy working on her solo career -- she didn't need AGT anymore, although I fully sense she'll always be grateful to AGT for launching her career. She appeared at a smattering of the tour venues, and of course the AFT 2011 grand finale on TV, wher she (again) was the star.

  • @innismor11 - I have a feeling Jackie certainly could have used the $1 million for winning the talent show on America's Got Talent.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 Oh, certainly. But we're talking of an 11-year-old that does not see any of it (directly), I imagine. Thing is, the solo career launched has already yielded much more than $1MM in the same period that she would have had to dedicate to meeting her AGT Tour obligations. Quick math tells me her albums have earned well in excess of $20MM at this point. I really have no idea what her cut is of that. I can't she how she won't be nominated for Best Debut Artist for February's Grammies

  • @innismor11 - She'll see that money directly when she becomes of age as an adult. For Jackie Evancho not to win the contest on America's Got Talent was the biggest joke in TV history. Because of this, i and many others don't watch it anymore. When the best talent is not rewarded, there's no point in watching.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 Oh, I don't disagree. But I also don't think the Evancho's feel they were short-changed themselves. Things have advanced farther than anyone could reasonably have expected for JE. The problem is the big business of entertainment (particularly TV) which can, at times, treat their clientele as if they are imbeciles. "Vote now", "cast your vote for your favourite", "help decide the winner" all do not mean squat if one reads through the Official Rules and Performer Contracts.

  • @innismor11 - Throw out your TV.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 Lol! That's one way, certainly -- hey, I'm with you. I have NEVER watched AGT. And I only watch live TV for some sports. I watch a (small) smattering of other shows from time to time, ALL of them PVR'd/TIVO'd -- I refuse to watch TV commercials as I am not interested in being told to buy something I do not need. If I need something/anything, I go on eBay, find it, and buy it. It gets delivered to my door. I just did that with JE's "Dream with Me in Concert" CD/DVD package.

  • @innismor11 - I have noticed that in watching this music video that I have an even greater appreciation for Jackie's God-given singing ability, as there is no video of her singing to distract my mind and I can focus only on her singing. I don't know your spiritual belief's or not, but for me, when I listen to the stunningly beautiful singing of this 11 year old child, it leaves me with a reinforcement for the belief in God. In my opinion, there is no way a mere child could sing like this....

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 I believe she is being brought up RC Christian. She has expressed her love of God and referenced praying. This would be family upbringing then. The evidence would suggest it has been all good. One certainly has to be impressed with Jackie the person (young girl) as well as Jackie the singer/performer.

  • @innismor11...unless the big guy upstairs make it so. Personally, I strongly believe that God has enabled Jackie to sing like this in order to soften the hearts of the hardened in this world, so that they can recognize God. Jackie's singing is so beautiful, so incredible, it's just beyond all reasonable description. When I purchased her, "O Holy Night" CD, I immediately opened it and popped it into my cars CD player. I was wiping the tears from my eyes for the next 30 minutes. Beyond beautiful!

  • @innismor11 Let's not be to ridiculous. Yes she signed with Columbia/Sony and I might add that the rumor is she got in the range of a 5.5 million advance. Not only that, but she has a CAREER contract with them, whatever that may mean. I know she is making enough that her father has shut down his security business, someone has to travel with Jackie. And her mother was a stay at home mom with so many kids. So she is obviously not hurting.

  • @johnquincyadams1

You just said god controls everything. That includes wars caused by mankind.

  • @iloveshaymitchell - Mankind has free will and mankind causes wars, not God. If you read the Bible, it explains all of this and it makes perfect sense.

  • 2 people are hated by japan. yea....their in captivity........

  • @johnquincyadams1

...no he does not. If he controls everything why are there wars

  • @iloveshaymitchell - Yes, God does control everything. There are wars because mankind fights wars, not God.

  • @Hazlitt1

    @Johnquincyadams1

God or Satan didn't wipe out japan. The earthquake did. Why don't you stop arguing about religion when that's the only thing that causes wars. Don't blame everything on god. God can't control things. He's just a spirit people blame things on or praises him for it when something happens. Why don't you stop relying on god and trust yourself for once.

  • @iloveshaymitchell - God isn't a religion. God controls everything. Again, Satan is in control of this world, for now. I hope for your sake you will someday recognize this, before it's too late.

  • Wonderful performance Jackie! Love you so much! But I love the Japanese people just as much. I went to Japan in 1968 on R and R from what was then, South Vietnam. I was concerned that there might still be hostility to Americans because of World War 2. Instead, I was overcome by the hospitality of the Japanese people. Being an American Southerner, I know all about hospitality! I've given a generous donation to the Japanese Red Cross and I hope that you will too!

  • The tears might have subsided but the grief goes on. This is a loss of epic proportion in modern history. Japan my ongoing prayers!

  • I Cried Through The Entire Video

  • MANAMI KON

    YOU ARE IN OUR PRAYERS

  • This song I dedicate to my friend Shelley who passed away yesterday from cancer! She is being comforted by angels and the Lord right now. Bless you Shelley, you will be missed here greatly!

  • It's in the arms of the angel lol. Very good. :)

  • i hope things will be ok for you mate, ty for making me aware of this piece of music

  • i cant stop crying to that !

  • I dedicate this song to my friend Rex, a very good man who passed away yesterday. You will be missed, but now, God willing, you have angels around you. Rest in peace my friend.

  • Japan is still reeling from this catastrophe. I have a friend who had to leave Tokyo and return to her native Philippines because of this. She was lucky, millions do not have that choice. Their lives have been shattered. It will be many years before all the scars are gone. We can help by giving till it hurts and keep forwarding this video to as many people as we can. Do it for Japan, not Jackie. Her beautiful voice gives life to the pictures.

  • Here in deep south Texas, we BARELY get a drop of rain. Japan did not deserve this! I love Japan, and I know things WILL get better. The Japanese people are STRONG. I love you Japan!

  • @avrillavigne9109 HERE IN DEEP SOUTH TEXAS oh shut the f*** up with yo snarkly voice

  • Where the fuck was God? Perhaps he can explain to four year old little 'Manami' why he wiped out her family.

  • @hazlitt1 let me give u a hint the devil makes everything bad happen and mother nature makes storms hurricanes tsunamis earthquakes

  • @kim4055 So as much as God didn't want this massacre in Japan to happen, (created by the 'Devil' according to you), the Devil and mother Nature must have had more power than God. God doesn't seem to be in charge eh! The 'Devil' can do what he wants and God has no power to stop him! Thanks for your support God, don't bother yourself when catastrophe happens next time. But wait, he didn't this time!

  • @hazlitt1 - Satan is in control of this world, not God, for now. However, that will change and Satan's followers will be destroyed and Satan bound.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 If 'Satan's taken control', god is either weak and useless or doesn't give a damn. God just sat there and watched 'Satan' wipe out thousands of innocent children and good people.

  • @hazlitt1 - You are clearly not at all familiar with the Bible and God's word. Satan was *allowed* control, temporarily, by God. Read. Learn.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 So God 'Allowed' Satan to take control and kill thousands of children. What the fuck was your God thinking! He doesn't seem too smart to me.

  • @hazlitt1 - He's not my God, he's everyone's God. Those children are in heaven, which is a much better place than this world. Again, if you really want answers, read the Bible, particularly the New Testament. I have a funny suspicion though that you are only here to spread hatred and could care less about the truth. Hopefully I am wrong.

  • @hazlitt1 - There is only one God. There can be many man-made religions, but there is only one God. With your childish/vulgar language, it is now clear you are a child who still has much to learn. Take care and God bless.

  • @hazlitt1 - You discredit yourself with the childish, vulgar language you use. No one has to discredit you when you are doing that job just fine on your own, son. Again, you know nothing of God's word or anything about God or you wouldn't be saying what you are, which is totally erroneous.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 Your God allows innocent children to suffer, starve, get raped, and killed by maniacs. Your wonderful god just sits there and watches it all. Nice guy. If that was a 'man', he would be called a heartless bastard and treated as an asshole. You are so up the ass of your religion, you just can't see reality, or feel the suffering of innocent children. You're fucking heartless yourself you deluded moron. Go and read your bullshit book and brainwash yourself some more.

  • @hazlitt1 - No, everyone's God appointed Satan as the ruler of this world, (for now). We have a choice; to follow the righteous path or the evil path. God doesn't want slaves. We have free will. Kindly, somehow, curb the childish, vulgar language. It does much to discredit you. Thank you.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 I hate myself for doing that, but 1: I would be more tolerated with his language, his heart and sense of morality is hurt that much, as he/she express it. 2: for assuming You were a good christian, I will have to ask, that Jesuses all his three years of bleeding blood of trying to teach us, where is 'God', 'Satan', 'good' or evil? Or where he sais, you have to choose between 'righteous' oe 'evil' path? Didn't he talk about, who gotto win the World Series this year, also?

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 Dont waste more energy on making this person realize things. Time will tell.....

  • @Keliiholokai89 - It's not just the blindness of the person in question, but the kid trying to lead others down the same path of lies and deceit.

  • @hazlitt1 You're a goof...people like you make me ashamed to be an athiest. You get mad when christians ram their beliefs down your throat, perhaps you shouldn't be ramming yours down peoples throats. If this song can help to give people a little strength in a time of tragedy, then why rain on the parade? Who cares what other people believe in as long as they're not pushing it on you. The fact is, this is a beautiful song made to help ease a lot of pain and suffering. Get over yourself

  • @DashMurphy Christians and Muslims are ramming their hocus down everyones throat. You should examine the world around you. Don't you go out, read papers, listen to the radio, or watch any TV? Those ultra right wing nut jobs now want to teach 'Intelligent design' in classrooms as a viable scientific explanation instead of evolution. And the Islamists want to convert the world to Islam or kill. So why don't you get on their cases you idiot.

  • @hazlitt1 Apperently you didn't hear when I said I was an athiest...I hate organized religion...that being said, I do however believe that people are entitled to their own beliefs, so long as they're not ramming it down our throats. No one told you you had to watch this video or listen to this song so why get on people's cases about it? If believing in god can help people to get through tragic situations then why not let them believe?

  • @DashMurphy Because religions and their followers create more 'tragic solutions', suffering and killing than all other tragedies put together. Many Christians are saying the Japanese must have deserved it or their wonderful God would not have 'punished' them. I suppose I don't like to see innocent people and children wiped out, or 'Punished', by any god who wants to frighten everyone into worshiping him.

  • @hazlitt1 - Religions are of man, not of God and as such are full of the imperfections of man.

  • Respond to this video... When you start caring and feel the suffering of innocent children, then you might also feel the anger which makes men like me speak out.

  • @hazlitt1 - Millions care. It's certainly nothing to get angry about.

  • @hazlitt1 - There is more evidence for intelligent design, (as many scientists have acknowledged), than anything else. Don't you listen to highly educated and trained scientists?

  • @DashMurphy - Very wise and intelligent words. Hats off to you! :) You already have a Christian heart. :)

  • Very touching video, and a perfect song and voice to go with it !

  • its very touching

  • Every morning when I get up I tune to UT just to hear her and the last thing before I go to bed. I sleep good now and have a good day at work no matter how stressful it is. Thank God for Jackie giving me peace of mind now and thank God she was born in my life time. She will go on to be the best singer of all our life time.

  • She puts the i in Prodigy.

I really wish i could sing like this at 14, and she's like, what, 10?

With a voice like this I'd raise money for Japan and the homeless and helpless just like this video.

  • OMG, I am astonished by this little girls voice,

  • OMG, I am astonished by this little girls voice,

  • This song is beautiful. Jackie's version is unique; I almost hear a celtic/irish mood in it. So lovely. Perfect for the cause.

  • @TheAzt3ca maybe they are disliking earthquakes???

  • I was aware of the devastation in Japan but seeing these pictures in conjunction to hearing this girl sing brought me to my knees. I broke down like a baby. This little girl is an unbelievable talent and puts heart to what happened in Japan.

  • Continue to pray for Japan.... ~~ Always Believe ~~~

  • This video almost put me to tears.

I love what you do for many people. I know you have a heart Jackie.

I'll be praying for japan and you Jackie Evancho.

You are so moving. I know Jackie was put here for a reason. She is an angel among us.

    God bless you.

  • I can't believe I just cried while listening to this song and looking at those pictures.

  • This is more than numbers can show times better than the original.

  • One dislike?

  • thumbs up if u think that 1 dislike doesn't have a heart for japan

  • I just cried my eyes out. People should remember this when they decide to waste their money on things like a 500$ prom dress...

  • Please God forgive me I accidentally hit the dislike button.

  • if celtic women dont pick her up, they're stupid. She would be perfect for that group

  • This song made me cry...and more when i saw the little girl at the end...i wish i was able to go there and help that little girl and the other people...we have to remember we are all a family..

  • I can't even explain this. Her voice is something I've never heard before. It's beautiful.

  • @Epicnerdgasm that's only because humans have been bitchy to it.

  • I Almost cried... LOL!!

  • @Epicnerdgasm Blame HAARP!

  • @mynameistzy

  • Perfect song for this incident. I have family members who lived in the Tokyo area, and I really appreciate it that everyone is trying to help my country. I was originally born there.

  • Jackie told Oprah that she knows her gift of singing has been given to her by God and she says 3 prayers each night to make sure he knows she's thankful!!

  • @Janesark2 - What an amazing child she is. I do think God is talking to all of us via Jackie. She is one of God's angels amongst us. I hope all of us, the world, will listen to what she is trying to say to all of us?

  • i cryied the most when i saw the girl write the letter to her mom:,(

  • i couldnt watch this without crying especially because of poor little Kon-chan i hope she is reunited soon with her family

  • Now everytime I hear Jackie sing that song those images pop in my head, I expect they will for years to come. What a powerfull video.

  • @richardoky - With the voice of an angel............she softened people's hearts and changed the world.

  • I still can not believe Jackies voice.just amazing I listen to her every day. Then to have the voice with this horrible devastation if this does not bring you to tears you are not human..

  • @colleens4ever - For me, it seems clear, seems obvious that Jackie has a God given gift and she is a gift from God for all of us, everywhere. I believe she was given this gift of incredibly beautiful singing to soften people's hearts, to bring tears to our eyes, to soften people's hearts and turn them away from what is wrong and bring them to what is right...to bring them to God. God bless and keep Jackie Evancho.

  • As a rule, I don't enjoy remakes of a song someone else did but this is one a definate exception

  • So touching! She have a beauiful voice.

  • Jackie Evancho! Gods little trumpet! ;)

  • A very poignant five and a half minutes.

  • I'm crying so much... this could quite possibly be the most beautiful version of this song I've ever herd. Her voice and the message of this song makes the impact of the video even more powerful. Beautiful... simply breath taking.

  • is it that i'm getting older by loving her voice, never have i been so captivated. The people of Japan has dignity and honor...believe that.... Jackie singing is so heartwrenching. And she knows whats right to sing and at the proper time. Thank You Mike and Lisa

  • I can't stop listening to this song, it's a sad video, makes me cry , but at the same time that voice is beautiful, goes right to your heart. How can a just turn 11 year old has the ability to do this? WOW!!!

  • @365cumoniwnt2leyu - She can sign like she can because she has a gift from God to soften people's hearts the world over and bring them to the Lord. Jackie has unequivocally strengthened my belief and love of God. God bless you Jackie...and thank you so much for sharing the stunning, blissful sound of your voice with all the world. (tears)

  • Japan is in dispair, I pray for you, may God be your light out of it. Jackies voice is so out of this world, that it goes right to your soul, and you feel the emotion she wants you to feel , for a just turn 11 year old to do this is unheard of. OMG!!! I can't wait to hear her new CD.

  • Ignoring religion but UMCOR (United Methodist Council on Relief) receives its operating expenses for the year from a special donation directed specifically to that by all of the Methodist Churches. Therefore, literally or nearly every penny that is donated to them (label Japan Relief) gets to the victims. The Red Cross and United Way cannot say that. I'm not denying that they do good, but that your money can be more efficiently used by other operations.

  • Hi everyone, added a new link in the description to an article about Manami Kon, the 4 year old girl at the end of video. Thanks to Max for locating the article.
