I've been using WMM (windows movie maker) to make anime music videos and such, I've been trying to get something better to do this because WMM continues to freeze on my computer, so I downloaded Vegas 7.0 I havent really used anything other than WMM so how can I make the 'getting used to' process easier?

Find the codec your video used, and load that codec onto your computer.

to make a clip go in slow motion, put your mouse on either end of it as if you were about to make it shorter or longer, hold down ctrl and drag the clip. drag it out to make it slower or in to make it faster. simple

To speed up/slow down your clip, hold control and drag the end of the clip forward to slow and backward to make it faster. I know you asked a while ago, so hopefully youve already found this out :) Goodluck

hey, u can also, in that 4:3-->16:9 cropping, stretch the pic to fit in the window, right~? u should show that sometime, cause when i started to use vegas, and i wanted to stretch the film, it was really hard to find, cause no one stretched the film, they only sropped it to the 16:9. but, i thankyou very much for dis vid ^^ it gave me very much.

We agree. However, the cost of subtitling 4 hours of content makes the production cost-prohibitive. We'd have to charge triple this DVD's cost in order to add subtitles.

Set up a mask on top track, type letters that need the blue flames.

Next video track is child of top track, put in your blue flames.

That's it.

Hi, just wondering if you could help please. I'm trying to add a watermark to a .flv file. I believe to do that I need to convert it to .avi then add the watermark. (I'm using Sony Vegas) Which I have now done but when I try to render as an .avi file it saves as 312,000kb when the original file was only 3,422kb? That is far too big because I then want to convert it back to .flv. Please help! Thanks.

how can i add moving texts without importing SWF files from swissmax so that i could have a high resolution text in my movie. and is there and expand effects in vegas other than zoom in and out transition so that my presentation would be more dramatic if i only use still images.. i am also using cookie cutter to add shadows. pls help.

In the Text Generator, you can add double the resolution of the text in the text dialog. Change it to 1440 x 960 to get the best sharpness of text.

The text is actually very sharp when you're working with DV, it's when you render to such a high compression rate that it loses it's quality.

Ok, Some of the stuff I use is downloaded off-line, and I noticed that the sound never works when its downloaded, What do I do About that? And also, what setting do I use when I save it on my Computer so it will go on youtube? DV is DV. The quality remains the same throughout whatever program you're using. Quality of application has nothing to do with the subject.

Ease and speed of editing are what count. If you've got a free app that has even a quarter of what Movie Studio offers, and can cut even half as fast, stick with it.

Editing isn't "FX". Vegas Movie Studio has comprehensive color correction tools, leveling tools, exposure correction tools, etc that I've surely never seen in a free app. It also offers broadcast-safe output if you're going to broadcast/television, among other things. If you're looking for mid-level compositing, it also offers those sorts of features.

Movie Studio also offers the same keystrokes as higher end applications such as Avid Express, etc.

The disc that comes with Sony Vegas is 20 mins in length (and this segment is on that free disc) but the full length disc is 4 hours in 4 sections, including training on DVD Architect Studio, free backgrounds, plugins, etc. None of that is on the free disc that comes with the old version of Movie Studio 6

Why install Apple QT? It's not needed for most avi's, unless the avi has a weird codec, such as those used by torrents and pirates.

Movie Studio is already pretty easy.

This would suggest you're using an illegal copy of Vegas.

Vegas will play an avi containing nearly every codec on the planet, except Xvid and new Divx.

To double speed of a clip, hold CTRL and drag the clip out.

We offer a training video that teaches all of this. We literally have trained 5th graders to use this software with great success.

but i'm not using an illegal copy :S and when i downloaded the trial (just to test) it played the exact same avi's... and the same not :S.

while uload movie studio and wmm CAN open these. pinnacle can't open them either. and uload movie studio doesn't really have much of editing so i can't do much with that either. now i'm using wmm again but i have disabled a lot of extra's so it finally runs faster. it's the only usefull program understanding ALL codecs.

I use sony vegas movie studio, and whenever I finish making my movie, and try to watch it, it has black lines all around the video, so when viewed in full screen, it looks like a black box is surrounding my video. Incidentally, Vegas Movie Studio imports Panasonic DVD footage just fine.

I think it is terrible when you buy a product from a clerk and he knows absolutely nothing about it. I have a Panasonic Camcorder that takes the 3" disc. But he didn't bother to tell me it will only work with computer if you use DVD RAM type disc. I read the book and went out to buy that type of disc. Guess what? Most stores don't handle it. I have to go out of town to acquire that type. Really sucks!

All camcorders can provide DOF, it's a question of technique. Can't comment on Panasonic Mini DV camcorders, we choose not to use Panasonic gear.

I'd imagine you can back off with the camcorder and zoom deep as you would with any small-imager camcorder, this would provide the DOF you're looking for.

Depth of Field is a camera technique. You can do a post DOF using DeFocus, but it doesn't look as good as doing it as it should be done.

Yes, you can perform defocus tasks in Vegas professional, but not the consumer-grade product, which is what this video is about.
