  • In game battery Y U NO STAY ALIVE SO I CAN STAY HOME AND NOT HAVE GIRLFRIEND AND PLAY POKEMON UNTIL AA BATTERY SURPLUS AT CVS PHARMACY GO OUT AND I AM STUCK AT HOME WITH GAMEBOY WITH NO POWER

  • sounds like the 8-bit, but much less annoying

  • I know how everyone says Pallet Town started it all, but for me, this was the one that started it all. My first Pokemon game, Pokemon Gold. Dammit, now I wanna cry...

  • Still remember when I got Silver Version, it was Christmas morning, I opened all my presents, there were two behind the tree that I didn't notice. It was a Game Boy Color and Silver Version. :D I loved my childhood so much that I got SoulSilver, I think it was a respectful way to honor my younger self :) But did any of us ever imagine, ten years down the road, Nintendo would remake these games?

  • @Sk8rFranklin silver was my first. i stole it from my tep brother because he never played it, and i was hooked from there.lol

  • Thumbs up if you were over the age of 12 when you played gold or silver

  • Comment removed

  • Wait what? an 8 bit option? Where? How do you access it?

  • @Jordannadroj20 get all the badges, then go to the GameFreak studio place in game (I think in Celadon mansion?) and talk to the right guy. he'll give you a key item to activate.

  • @jbernier93 haha! thanks man! That's awesome :)

  • now i have to play pokemon hg and ss again

  • when i hear this i can cry...if i still played pokemon gold on the gameboy of my brother i thought that 8 bit sounds better than the newer sounds,i wasnt born in this time of pokemon gold silver and crystal but its like a childhood of me. best song..pokemon 4ever!!

  • One person let the red headed kid punk them

  • This is more soothing on the eardrums. Maybe it wouldn't annoy my parents too much now...

  • this sounds alot like the original but higher notes

  • @whizzmaster3000 I know exactly where you're coming from! I'm 14 and i actually started out with Red. But I remember playing Crystal a lot too. I remember when my now 17 year old cousin was like; "Hey Cuz guess what? In Crystal you can play as a girl!" and I was all " :D really! YAY!" And I played it with them for hours and hours and hours...good times XD

  • When I was a little kid the first pokemon game I played was silver... even though I'm 13 now, much younger than the other original pokemon players, that doesn't mean silver isn't a relic of my (earlier) childhood! I just hope all the hype about the majority of 2000's kids thinking the original games are trash isn't true... that would be horrible.

  • GAAAAAAAAAAH, NOSTALGIA-SPLODE.

  • 42 people put tis on loop cause the music is so awesome

    thats mai opinion

  • ahhhh the sweet only 8 bit version *happy crying face*

brings me back to the days where i had to share the console with my brother. sweet memories.

  • I wish I was born earlier.

  • Best theme in the game / series :D

  • sounds a bit different from the original, a little higher pitch

  • I rember this music like it was yesterday, the beeps and pings of midi music filling you head as you start your grand adventure. As a 7 year old I knew the moment that I finished my gold version that it would not be the end of that game, and then i waited; untill leaf green came out, it was at that moment I knew they were bound the remake G/S/C. I waited 10 years for it but it happened. The moment it came out in japan and I herd this music in this vid I broke down and started to cry, good times.

  • This is great, even better than the original IMO.

  • where do you get the thing to do this???? please reply memorys need to be cherished

  • @UtahJazzFan04 You have to beat Red and talk to the game freak guy in Celadon city :)

  • @Molorulz Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  • @Molorulz no you dont have to beat red you just have to get 16 badges....

  • This is quite a bit different from the original, but definitely improved...

  • somehow i love this version more than the original, even though its supposed to be the same it sounds alot better to me

  • @NeonLia THAT IS THE MOST TRUE COMMENT I'VE EVER READ!!

  • I remember when this played in Gold when I beat Lance for the first time

  • I'll say it right now. The GameBoy Player is the best feature in the game. AMAZING!

    Nostalgia overflow.

  • @FuzWuz i still have mine it works perfectly lol

  • God... I remember when G and S first came out..they were so epic... then crystal, a cherry on top of a great cake... these along with the 1st gen were great games. I have played pkmn sapphire, but it wasn't so great. Lost track of pkmn ever since, however after hearing bout this remake... gotta w8 till ds gets cheaper and get it 2nd hand just to check the remakes out... but i guess nothing will beat the atmosphere of the original :D

  • @VirtualBlock lol yeag

  • @NeonLia luckily for me, my copy of pokemon silver still has the batteries and i can play it anytime :D

  • After me and my friend beat Red and Blue we made a pact to find and get Gold and Silver, it happens that we get the games on the same, I forgot where he got Silver, but I got Gold at a Garage Sale along with a new Gameboy Advance! :3 Starting the journey in the old games just felt,....nostalgic.

  • @NeonLia om fudge really hilarious

  • Lulz I think this sounds better than the original Gold and Silver New Bark Town Theme... the original's accompaniment melody was too loud lol

  • @VirtualBlock they know what it is. any pokemon fan HAS to have played g/s/c at some point...

  • @NeonLia thats where i remembered that bad memory of my games internal battery dieing... i want soulsilver sooooo bad!

  • reminds me of my first "keep talking to the red haired guy outside the lab"

  • the best part starts at 0:18 (the part they left out in HGSS)

  • How do you enable the 8-bit music in HG/SS?

  • @momoandmiz Get all 16 badges and go to a certain house.

Try looking it up on Bulbapedia or something.

  • this actually sounds better than the original gs soundtrack!

  • @TheBlaziken437 it is the original gs soundtrack -.-

it's just that the quality of the sound is different

  • Ah...let the Nostalgia begin! Just hearing this brings me back to those fun old days...playing my Silver Version with my friends on an afternoon...not a care in the world. More than anything, this song reminds me of my fleeting childhood, back when I fell in lobe with this series. No other piece of music in the series makes me want to jump up and shout, "Pokemon! I choose you!" more than this.

  • the new one doesnt even sound like this one! When i first heard the new one i was: "WTH!? The changed the music completley!"

  • NOSTALGIA COMIN' THROUGH

  • I actually like this version as well as the original. Hell, I appreciate the GB Player even being in the game at all.

  • I like this better than the original NBT.

  • me too.

    i wanna buy headphones :P

    or/and DS XL.

  • Of all tracks to not be properly done WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE NEW BARK TOWN? It still sounds ok, but damn the original was SO MUCH BETTER.

  • had a softer feeling ?

  • i was right about to say that!

  • im so glad they made this optional. its a good thing nintendo didnt forget about us classic pokemon masters

  • I'm so glad they made the gb player.

  • I like this because it reminds me of an old Zelda Gameboy game I used to have. Plus, it sounds nice.

  • First I was like "naaaaw"

but then I was like "yeaaah he's right"

  • good memories, pokemon gold was my first game i ever played, i am so exited to get hg/ss

i was just 4 yrs old when i got gold and i still have it XD

  • i miss the original theme. my poor gold game was fucked up and i'll never hear it again, so this'll have to do.

  • Original is better, but this isn't that bad.

  • It sounds like the same pitch and tempo, yes...but the feel is off because the original had a flute-like sound in the melody instead of how it is in this. I'm not too sure how to accurately describe it, but listen to the original and you'll notice the difference.

  • I kind've wish this sounded more like the original. The original was a lot more mellow and flutey.

Though don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely ecstatic that they have an 8-bit option!

  • @MarthRingman The game can't reproduce the sounds perfectly.

  • its much less calming without the main flute voice

  • I really like that they put the 8-bit option into the game. I think everyone will benefit from it xD Except for maybe stupid children nowadays... they'll be like "What is this mess?!" hahaha. Little do they know, the "mess" is the sounds of our childhoods.

  • I concur... I feel like such an old man listening to this haha... But so many good memories

  • Best comment EVER. I don't care if it's an old comment.

  • @spirit2fusion True, I would rather listen to the "mess" than what we have now.

  • @spirit2fusion Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

  • @spirit2fusion hehe 3rd grade memories for me xD

  • @spirit2fusion where do you get the 8bit option?

  • @spirit2fusion

    "The sounds of our childhoods"...

You made me cry with that :P

    ...Seriously...

  • @ImLagunero me too...!

  • @spirit2fusion

Unfortunately this cluster$#% sounds nothing like the original chiptune it tried to replicate. I still have my original games to compare them. Outside of that though, I'd say HG and SS were better than the originals in every way possible, unlike that trainwreck we call fire red and leaf green... *GENERATION 3!!! SO MUCH RAGE!!!!*

  • @spirit2fusion What is this mess >=C lol jk

  • @spirit2fusion I'm 10...I didn't think it was a mess,I'm not stupid, and we just don't know what your talking about.I just wish people would stop saying people hate nostalgia and new games. It doesn't make me proud at all to be a fan.I'm one of few people who are fellow 5 genners and like all generations, like a true pokemon fan.

  • @burner1013 I understand. Pokemon was a HUGE deal when I was a kid. I'm 17, in 1998 I was 4, and that's when the show and video games took the country by storm. People your age won't understand the phenomenon that was Pokemon back then simply because they didn't live through it, and they don't carry memories of playing their Game Boy Color with all of their friends either (and trading cards). I for one can not accept the generations after ruby/sapphire. Pokemon has gone downhill in my opinion.

  • @spirit2fusion I would be offended, but I see your point.I guess how your childhood is can largly affect the future. But remember, the new games not,are the only way I can experience YOUR chilhood.I don't have such connection with the older games, but I do with the new games. They are MY childhood.

  • @burner1013 I see. but now you understand our point of view. People like me are just biased against the new games. A lot of us like to think of them as nonexistent.

  • @spirit2fusion I know,I see your point, respect your opinion, but it makes me want to cry, just knowing my Childhood is hated because it's not someone else's.

  • i love this feature...but i wish they couldve just ripped the soundtracks out of the original games instead of making new 8-bit tracks...they sound really similar but it just feels off

  • so true, but at least they gave you the option in this remake, they butchered viridian town in FR/LG so its nice to be able to swap to a less mangled one :)

  • @Mariomaniac37

    I agree completely.

  • i love this item, best add-on to any pokemon game to date

  • nintendo are geniuses to include this item to get rid of complaints about any of the new remixes

  • holy crap.... (starts crying) IM NOT CRYING ITS ALERGIES!!!

  • I just noticed something odd. Most of the GB Player music is the same pitch as the original but it's faster, but this is almost the same speed as the original but higher pitched...

  • @KirbychuHRD i noticed that too.

  • i will now shed a tear for my Pokemon Gold game.

Thank god for the GB Player

  • Man... I remember my parents gave me Crystal when i was around 7 or 8 years old. This was the second music i ever heard on it. Thanks for the childhood memories!

(PS: I'm not crying! *finds a tissue*)

  • lol everyone is complaining becasue they changed the sine sound wave to a square soundwave?

  • +56? Wow.

  • makes it sound more echoy......

    and more Nostalgic!

  • this song. was the first song i ever heard in the pokemon series that stuk to me. i got the johto games b4 red/blue and this is the song that got me into these games. this song = amazing

  • The original 8-bit theme was better.

  • I agree. Very close, but no cigar.

  • Yes, this is VERY NES-y. The GBC had a 4-bit soundchip, not 8-bit. Most of the GB Player tracks are very similar to the originals, but this is a little too far off.

  • Silver was my first Pokemon game.

  • Me too!

  • Comment removed

  • I remember getting Silver on Christmas... it was the best day of my life.

I was really surprised because it looked different from Red (my sister got Red two years before that, but I didn't play it much, because I was only like 6 and didn't know what to do).

Nostalgia... I wish I would be 8 again... and wouldn't let my Silver get stolen :(

  • I remember I got silver on Christmas to...sittin there playin' it. I would love to do that again

  • Yes, good times... the childhood ended too early.

I bought a second hand Crystal an year ago (my original one got stolen together with Silver), just for the nostalgia and I loved playing through it again. When I heard they confirmed the HeartGold and SoulSilver and I've watched several pics and videos, I was as happy as ever. I really can't wait for them to air in Europe. I hope they'll make a Ruby/Sapphire remake too, I liked playing Ruby a lot, too.

  • Yeah. When they revealed HG/SS I couldn't stop jumping. I have my crystal and the last time I played it was a year and 1/2 ago. It didnt save so when I didnt want to play it, I just hooked my sp up to thecharger until I wanted to play it again haha. Yeah, HG/SS are my all-time favs but I never really liked the transition from game boy to advance (R/S/E), but hey; they're the classics, so I'll definately get them if they come out!

  • It's true what they say, youth is wasted on the young.

There's all the schoolwork that gets/got in the way of enjoying being young and having "no" worries, that once you get old enough to realize how great being young is, you're still relatively young, but you have so many things that you're obligated to do (Homework, sports, school itself, work, wtc.) That we don't have any time to enjoy it.

Once we grow up and retire, we HAVE the time, but we don't have the physical or mental health.

  • sucks, doesn't it?

  • Yes.

The mere thought that the only part of life you can REALLY enjoy is after your ability to do things that are enjoyable just... sucks.

  • don't forget that you already know everything, so nothing is exciting for you either.

So pretty much, when you have the most freedom, you have no excitement left in your life.

When everything is new and exciting you have to work

  • I know.

Jesus, this is starting to sound REALLY emo.

  • *cuts self*

  • lol

  • @Lance012012 Wow, Except for the whole sister having a pokemon red thing, I been throught the same thing. I remember getting my very first silver game (and a Gameboy period) for Christmas and having it stolen a year latter. :( I can so relate. *sniff*

  • +cries tears of nostalgia+

  • could you make this longer?

  • Less Flutey than the original but still great to hear.

  • -sigh-

there's no other way to say this....

this video is made of win....

  • now there are three new bark town official musics

  • Four if you count the remix in Pokémon Stadium 2.

  • It's not exactly the same as G/S, but it's close enough.

  • I cry when i hear this, so much nostalgia, i like this better then the remake, but i always do.

  • Man, these games are the best remake ever made...

My god, imagine if all remakes had this item that could turn all music in 8-bit.

    NOSTALGIA WIN!

  • Well, Pokemon games have a tendency not to remove new items as they're introduced. Things like the Vs. Seeker, being able to rebattle Gym Leaders, a powered-up Elite Four, etc. have now pretty much become standard.

Thus, I'd imagine that a Gen. V remake of a previous generation will include a similar GB Player key item.

  • Generation V... that'll be the day.

  • Well, the Vs. Seeker didn't show up in HeartGold/SoulSilver, but mainly because it would conflict with the original games.

We couldn't rebattle Gym Leaders in DP, could we?

The Pokemon League in DP couldn't power up, either.

They've run out of generations with old, 8-bit music to use for a GB Player. Hoenn's music was done with a variety of synthesized instruments, and I don't picture it working out as well for that. Plus, I'm not sure if they'll even remake Hoenn as its own game.

  • @wetterdew

you could re-battle the dp gym leaders(in platinum)

and of course they poweed up, ever since R/S/E they wold get stronger after ceratin requirements.

the VS seeker was not in hg/ss cuase to re-battle you could just call em, there was no vs seeker in r/s/e either.

  • Ah, good ol' 8-bit themes.

I can tell that this music is completely different from the original in terms of the melody in the music. The bass still sounds the same, though.

  • This device is the single greatest idea Gamefreak has had since G/S/C themselves.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • Totally agreed, better than anything! I'd rather have Master Balls and the Pokethlon and the Hoenn trio and the twins gone than have the GB Player taken out.
