  • I can ask the organ player, when I see him again. He should know, shouldn't he?

  • Where would I find the sheet music for this piece?

  • The score of this piece can be found in any music library. The titel and the composer are in the clip

  • Thank you. Is this St. Bavo? What stop is he using throughout most of the piece? I would love to come to see this organ. I live in the US.

  • This is not St Bavo in Haarlem, The Neterlands but it the main organ in the Oude Kerk ( Old Church)in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, They are only 30 minutes apart by train, since bothare close to the station.

I would not know what stops where used since I am not an organ player. But more in formation about this organ can be found with the other organ clips that I put on YT or on the web and search for Vater-Mueller Organ.

  • I tried to post a link to the stop list, but I think I ca't add url's here. You can find a stop list on the Dutch wikipedia site, look for 'orgel' and 'oude kerk'.

I think the stops he uses are the Baarpijp 8' and the Nasard from the Bovenwerk.

  • Does this organ have a really heavy action? It looks like he's really pushing on the keys, and the amount of action noise suggests problems. Also note the three-man team... in the old days, it probably took four or five, maybe more, when you had to have people to operate the bellows.

  • The action is not really heavy. I mixed in the set noise in a bit, but as far as I remember not so much with this one. The music was recorded on a specific position in the church at 7 m hight. The people next to the organist are a teacher and another organ player that were waiting their turn to play a piece as well.

  • Thank you! It's always good to have someone nearby to help with the registration, even if they are just waiting their turn! :)

  • Actually the action is quite heavy compared to other mechanical organs, it's even known for that 'feature'. As an amateur organist I got the opportunity to play a few hours on this famous organ: hours I won't easily forget.

    Prachtig!

  • It is indeed very beautiful. You do seem to send a mixed idea about music in the church from some of the postings you have sent me.

  • Dat is goed, poederbach! Ik vind dit echt leuk. Echt! I am very happy that you've shared this video. I've became a subscriber. I am awaiting more beautiful organ music for old church hymns. Bedankt. Dat is heel vriendelijk.

  • prachtig gespeeld op dit geweldige instrument.

  • nice
