  • That iMac did really well, considering the fact that it shipped with Mac OS 9.

  • I bought a G3 iMac (Bondi Blue) at a yard sale back in 2008. I timed it against my Santa Rosa Macbook (2.4GHz) and it only fell behind by 4.3 seconds. Considering the iMac is from 1999 and the Macbook is from 2007....yeah. Pretty decent ::)

  • it's the way the CRT monitors react to cameras and flourescent lights/lightbulbs

  • @raysfan1181 Actually it is because of the refresh rate of the monitor. If you drop the refresh rate down on a LCD to say 24hz then you filmed it with a 30FPS camera you would get the same results. If the refresh rate is lower that the camera recording this will happen.

  • haha dude, thats what happens with a CRT monitor when its filmed with a camera, its not like that in real life. flat panels dont have that problem when being filmed.

  • Ever heard of the MHz myth? Look it up. Bottom line, MHz doesn't matter especially when comparing two architectures (ARM and PPC).

  • i agree because i have an iBook G3 that i got off eBay for $160 but it has Mac OS9 and Mac OS X Beta and its terrible

  • A G3 (600Mhz 512 megs ram) beet my new macbook (2.4Ghz 4 gigs RAM) in a boot test with four macs; its kinda crazy how this shit works

  • That is actually really impressive. I've got to say, the iMac G3 really isn't as bad as I remember...

    Then again, the ones at my old school were used by, well, tons of people, so they would probably bog down...

  • I know! My school iMac G3's are technically faster than my Pismo PowerBook G3, yet mine has more RAM and is actually Maintained properly :P

  • yea lolz but sometimes old computers an macs can be faster in other areas tht new ones are slow in.

  • my 400MHZ, 512MB mac starts up in 37 seconds. =p
