  • I was there, rigth at the very front on the barrier, and i always remember him runnign past trying to slap everyones hand and the thing that stuck out was the size of this green onyx ring he had on his right hand, i just looked at it and thoguth wow...

  • I was there! I think I was 18 at the time. Bon Jovi were very good. Great fireworks at the end too, but I'd really gone to see Metallica and Anthrax that day. They were superb.

  • I was there! It was a great gig.Paul Stanley,Bruce Dickinson and Dee Snider where there too, they sang one song with bon jovi that evening.

  • I am from Germany and i was 18 years old when i visit this MOR in Castle Donnington. I flight alone from Düsseldorf to London and than with a train to Derby. That was the best Festival that i ever seen. Fantastic Bands great shows , 120.000 people and rain rain rain, whats up....

  • Wow, this was my first ever concert...What a blast that day was even though we were all soaking wet from the rain that went on all day I believe. I was almost 20 yrs old. 43 now. Thanks so much for posting this...

  • i was there too my first ever monsters of rock.....rain rain and more rain but i loved it...john ad a bad throat he said he was sorry....dint spoil ti for me i love every minuate

  • I was there and yes his voice had gone,a very limp performance by the whole band if i'm honest

  • I was there! Happy days :) ty for putting this up.

  • I was there to remember the big firework display after more than anything oh and it rained

  • caspian youre a nob, I was there is 87, noone fucked off, no pause, youre an arsehead

  • actually 3 people died in 88, one died during dl roth, a bouncer tried to get him to stop playing, dave said "get the fuck off my stage man" course he had no idea what was happening. The hoghlight of the jovi set was traveliling band, when bruce d, paul stanley and dee snyder sang too

  • I was there too, this show made me a Bon jovi fan. I was blown away (almost literaly by the pyrotechnics) by the show. I thought they were ok before the show but after i thought they were one of the best bands i'd seen. I only wish they had the same hard edge these days.

  • I was there in 87 & 88. The greatest gigs apart from the tragedy of 88. Bon Jovi as mentioned had voice problems but they were still brilliant. A long time ago noe though.

    Shaun

  • Hey I was there 87 and 88 to. I agree with you about the tradgedy during Guns gig when 2 people died.

    Hug

    Suss Sweden

  • during guns and roses performance

  • I was there, right at the front.

  • I was there too!!

Was it me.. or did he sing the whole set in the wrong key ?

  • No idea, I'm tone-deaf!!

I remember at some point I was walking past a guy and got my hair caught on one of the studs on his jacket.

    Wasn't you, was it??

  • when they did monsters of rock back then his voice was completely shot to pieces after the long tour, so he probably sang it in the wrong key because he wasn't able to do it any more better...

  • la voz de Jon es realmente mala en este concierto, se notaba el cansancio de la gira.

observen como sambora se acerca al minuto 00:40 para apoyar su voz.

  • Hey thanks for posting this. I was there, right at the front directly below Jon. It was a great show, Iv never seen any video of it till now. man this takes me back. Thanks

  • Que grandes eran en 1987,pedazo cartel del Monster que tuve la suerte de disfrutar en directo gracias al viaje organizado de Mario Scaso

  • well everyone his opinion, i personally think DIO is crap...

  • A bit of advice go out and buy Rainbow -Rising,Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell and Dio- Holy Diver

  • @hAnD90 dude, you don't know a shit of metal

  • @achalaymatt Where did I say anything of BJ being a metal band? I just uploaded it as I'm a Bon Jovi fan and they played that gig. Leave it at that.

  • @achalaymatt anyway you still don't know a shit about metal o rock in general, men c'mon how could you not like dio? you're f***ing craaazy

  • @hAnD90 are you fucking nuts? Dio is great man

  • @ricardoleony ok maybe my comment was a bit over the edge...let's just say it's not my cup of tea...everyone's got a different taste...

  • that's total shit mate. I was there and dio were fucking awful, worse than that they were like something from the lord of the rings with dragons, wankers.

Bon Jovi were fucking ace and cunts like you who like dio, are just to uptight to say they like bon jovi

  • Not shite mate i saw Bon jovi at Birmingham Odeon in 1985 (7800 degrees farenheit tour) & at donington in 85 probably before you had heard of em , I WAS a fan but they aint in the same league as RJD ,they r just a pop band , u twat

  • I disagree, we were there in '87 and Bon Jovi were shit. There was a pause in their show, and everyone fucked off. Then they re-started & no-one went back. They were complete toss!

  • ur opinion couldn't explain how the hell did they sell multi-million copy of albums, if they were n still are crap

  • so did the spice girls and abba ,NUFF SAID

  • i'll post Raise Your Hands and Tokyo Road from this gig soon...

  • Hi hAnD90. I was never able to go this festival 21 years ago and have ever since tried to see footage of it on VHD or DVD. So first of all thank you very much for sharing this. It is brilliant footage. Of course now I would love to see the whole gig or more if you have it. I would be happy to pay as well. Please let me know. Your a star!!!

  • OMG this is the first video footage I've seen of this since the day it happened.

  • do you maybe have the part where Bruce Dickinson, Dee Snider, and Paul Stanley joined in?

  • sorry that wasn't recorded anymore...

  • ahh damn it! I'd love to see that!

  • Actually, "hAnD90", vocals were relatively great. Let Jonny-Boy try to sing even a percentage of this caliber today. Thanks for posting, Man. Awesome.

  • Is there any chance of getting hold of the a copy of the complete show? I was there, It rained all day, but it was still a great day. It brings back great memories!! didn't have a clue it was even filmed. Thanks for posting this footage! A++

  • Actually, compared to todays singing, his voice is golden here. Can you get me the complete performance of this show? Eitherway, Thanks for posting.
