Wow! It never ceases to amaze me how he can have such a following when his singing is so far off key. I'm not even sure if he got lucky and hit one note correctly in that song. The music is pretty decent though. The dead might have been okay if they would have just found someone who had a voice.....oh, and knew how to sing.
@MrSteele11111 the dead might have been ok??? you are fucked in the head man. the dead is the single greatest thing to happen since humans inhabited the earth man!!!!
@MrSteele11111 okay 1) just because jerry is original and likes to add some variation to his music doesnt make it off key. just different 2) he hit every note exactly the way he wanted to hit, and if he didnt he would have re-recorded it you retard 3) the dead might have been okay ?? what the fuck is wrong with you? the grateful dead is LITERALLY the single greatest thing to have ever happened. period. 4) ever thought that maybe since everyone else knows how good of a singer jerry is

The fast blue grass, it's ten ten faster than than any methed up metal heads can do. The rest is just amazing. DR Ralph Stanley diagnose me please. Shit. Garcia knew it long before it hit mainstream. Great shit.
@jackstrawfrmwchta Hey hey hey, i'm a metal head and I do not fall into the category of "methed up metal head" lol, Music shouldn't be about how fast you play but rather the content that makes the music enjoyable, I've heard fast metal songs, and fast bluegrass songs that both sucked on equal levels. I've also heard some groove metal that was a lot better than any drunken hellbilly shit kickin' bluegrass. lol, good music is good music regardless of genre
I have listened to these guys all my life & i still find stuff I have not heard, my mom got me into the Dead when I was a little kid & I am 47 now .. & my kids love the Dead & Jerry G as much as me 3 generations of Deadheads in my family !!! ... going on 4 cuz my daughter plays them for her kids!!!... we love heavy metal too !

Not to many people knew that Jerry loved playing bluegrass. In my opinion he started the Hippiegrass movement. Anyways this is a great version of this song.

researching this song, I heard the version with Bob Dylan, which did nothing for me. Is this the first version that is similar to the movie? If so, Garcia really deserves the credit for the best version (I can find, and definately used for the movie)
I love this music. Great for sittin' on the porch smokin' a cigar (or other leaf of choice, if that's your poison) and havin' a drink. The world lost a great artist when Jerry passed.

Very Sweet...
I had never heard this song until the movie "Oh' brother where art tho"
released the video. This version sounds Much ...Sadder then whats in the movie .
(but gotta give kudos for it opening up many others to the "Bluegrass"
sound that Was Country Before country music got "Hip")
JERRY & DAWG Were a bit ahead of their time,
only a few were really into what they were doing with the Bluegrass thing.
(even some of the "Deadheads" didn't get why Jerry was playing that stuff)

researching this song, I heard the version with Bob Dylan, which did nothing for me. Is this the first version that is similar to the movie? If so, Garcia really deserves the credit for the best version (I can find, and definately used for the movie)
Thanks for posting this, very lovely version :)

I love this music. Great for sittin' on the porch smokin' a cigar (or other leaf of choice, if that's your poison) and havin' a drink. The world lost a great artist when Jerry passed.
